Beautiful Day in the BronxThe Yankees completed their sweep of the Royals today, and I was in attendance along with the Hurricane (college roommate). It was a scorcher and we had sweet seats in the sun, so basically, it was a perfect day. The Melk Man went yard, Joey Gathright got heckled in left and Moose Knuckle nibbled his way through 6 mostly-effective innings. It’s off to Toronto tomorrow for a three-game set. For some reason, the game starts at 1:07 p.m., must be Bastille Day or something. After the Blue Jays, the Yanks head to Cleveland and their cake schedule gets a little harder. Letter to the Skipper:
![]() Player of the Game: Melky Cabrera, 2 for 5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 1 HR. It was nice to see the Melk Man leading off. Check out his numbers on the season: .292/.345/.426, 46 runs, 48 RBI, 7 HR, 17 2b, 5 3b, 9 SB, 28 walks and only 41 strike outs. Good news: From the Lohud Yankees Blog, the Yanks designated Mike Myers for assignment. The second-best entrance music on the team will no longer be heard, but a lefty specialist who can't get lefties out is not needed. I'm wondering if someone will be hard-up enough to grab him off waivers.
