It Must End at Three

A three-game streak is a blip. A three-game slide only amounts to 1.5 games in the East, 0.5 in the Wild Card. A three-game skid is starting two rookies and an old robot while facing two Cy Young candidates. A three-game losing streak is tolerable at this point. Now, it must end.

The Yanks have had all of the bad stretches they can survive this season. They've used up their quota. Andy Pettitte must take the mound tomorrow and get the ball to Joba, with the lead. The Yankee offense must support him. Above all, they must win.

The Red Sox play a day/night doubleheader with the Angels in Boston. They've got their own blue-chip pitching prospect on the hill in the day game, Clay Buchholz, and Josh Beckett for the night cap. The Sox could sweep that doubleheader. If the Yanks lose again tomorrow, they could find themselves 7 games out.

Pettitte has pitched in big situations numerous times for the Bombers. I just hope that he realizes tomorrow is another one. Three games is a blip, let's keep it at that and put an end to the miserable play we've watched over the past three.
