Abreu0612In all fairness, Brandon Webb threw a good game. I may have taken a shot or two at the veracity of any National League pitcher’s statistics in my preview of tonight’s game, but he held his own against one of the best lineups in baseball tonight. So hat’s off to the losing pitcher, Brandon Webb.

The Yanks got all the offense they’d need from the first three batters in the bottom of the first inning. Damon reached on an error, Jeter hit one in the vacated shortstop hole on a hit and run, then Abreu absolutely crushed a home run to deeeeeeeep right field. 3–0 Yanks. They’d go on to win 4–1.

Chien-Ming Wang was masterful. (7 IP, 1 earned, 6 hits, 0 BB, 2 Ks, 95 pitches, 61 strikes). Farnsworth gave everyone a heart attack in the eighth, as usual. Mo dominated in the ninth, he’s back.

The win pushes the Yankees streak to 7 games, more importantly, it pushes the Giambi T-Shirt streak to 8 games.

Player of the Game: Bobby Abreu. No one in the league is hotter than Bobby right now. He’s even hitting for power, which is something I didn’t think we’d ever see again.
