A month or so ago I received a challenge to represent Blogs By Fans in a fantasy baseball league. [Side note: Can't we come up with a more manly name for fantasy sports? Whatever happened to Roto or Rotisserie? Fantasy should only be used an adjective when describing a movie with a dragon in it.] Anyway, I accepted the challenge, as did Mike from Green Pinstripes, but he punted the draft, so it's going to be up to me to defend our honor.

The league has 16 teams, uses traditional Yahoo! FBL scoring and rosters, and I had the number four pick. Keep in mind that I'm going up against some serious fantasy gamers (I wonder if they put that on their resumes). Of course, I'm in too many leagues myself, so I can't really throw stones. It was a fun draft, no name-calling etc. And it looks to be a competitive league.

In hindsight, I probably should've taken Alfonso Soriano over Ryan Howard with the number 4 pick, but overall I'm happy with my team. I waited a while to grab my first pitcher, and stayed out of all of the closer runs. The league is a pure points league, so I went for the most bang for my buck regardless of position. You'll see the roster listed below, so BBF Bloggers, our online fantasy rep is at stake here, root for these guys:
