SEA 3, NYY 2: The Pen Wastes a GemMatt DeSalvo was brilliant tonight. 7IP, 1 earned, 3 hits, 3 walks, 0 Ks. He deserved better than a no decision in a 3–2 Yankee loss to the Mariners. Yes, there was a blown call in the eighth, but at some point Farnsworth needs to get through a friggin’ inning without giving up a friggin’ run. I’m sick of this guy. It’s time to give the eighth to Bruney. Farnsworth wasn’t the only goat out of the pen, though. Mo made one mistake in the ninth, and that mistake was the difference in the game. Adrian Beltre took a high fastball over the middle of the plate out over the left-center fence for the deciding blow. Overall, a disappointing loss, but I think DeSalvo and Rasner have earned their next starts with back-to-back solid performances. Player of the Game: Matt DeSalvo.
