In case you missed it, Curt Schilling took a no-hitter into the ninth inning today in Oakland. He got the first two batters on weak grounders to short. He was one out away from the no-no, then Shannon Stewart came to the plate. He lined the first pitch he saw into right field for a solid single. Schilling then recorded the final out for a 1–0 win.

I stayed at the office late to watch the last three innings of the game on MLB.tv. Schilling threw nothing but fastballs in the ninth, the first two guys didn’t catch on, Stewart did. In the seventh and eighth he was throwing nothing but junk. Apparently his jedi-mind trick for the ninth didn’t work. Tough loss for the A’s. The Sox took only 1 of 4 in the first stop on their abbreviated West Coast swing. The Yanks are 11 games out of first heading into tonight’s game in Chicago.

thank god for stewart. he used to look so mean when he was closing out games for the a's. hope he was a little happier when he broke up dilling's no-hit bid.
