Just an
atrocious game all around. Damon was out with a sore foot, so I didn't even have my standby reason to watch this mess, but watch it I did. 12 runs on 19 hits, but at least they didn't walk a single batter. I think the luster has fully worn off the Ras at this point.
If you're looking for a silver lining...I don't know what to tell you. Keep looking. On offense the Yanks left a large village on the base paths. Tom Gorzelanny couldn't find the strike zone to save his life, but the Yanks repeatedly bailed him out.
Tough way to start a series. Joba and the Moose will look to turn things around in Pittsburgh.
Player of The Game: Justin Christian, 2 for 4, 2 RBI including his first ML hit.
Team Record: 41-36
Damon: DNP - foot injury. I don't know how serious Damon's injury is, but if he goes on the DL, Brett Gardner needs to be called up.
You could look at Cano getting 3 solid hits as the lone positive from this game. If Damon and Matsui are out for an extended period of time, and with Melky essentially becoming an automatic out, they need the real Cano back. Hopefully this game gets him on a roll. And who knows, if Damon does go on the DL, we could see an outfield of Christian, Gardner, and Abreu by the All Star break.
Cano's night is a positive, you're right. He was pissed Giambi didn't score on his double.
