The Yanks made a smart move today, signing Miguel Cairo to stay on as the utility infielder on the 25-man roster for a meager $750,000. Cairo is an asset to this team, and the Yanks could've gone out and signed a more expensive "upgrade" at the position in Mark Loretta, but they stuck to their guns and brought the popular Cairo back.

Cairo always reminds me of Luis Sojo (minus about 30% of Sojo's body fat). He gets big hits, plays good defense and can fill in at any of the infield positions. He's the type of guy you want on your team. Cashman is on a roll, and I'm officially on his bandwagon as long as Melky stays a Yankee.
