Now that players like Carmelo Anthony and Andre Iguodala have moved on, Ty Lawson is finally get a chance to show he can lead a team to mediocrity all on his own. The Nuggets have dropped seven straight, four straight at home. Tonight, the Sixers will see if they can toss a few more ping pong balls out the window and send a message to Brian Shaw saying maybe being an assistant coach for life isn't such a bad thing.
The matchup we'll be watching tonight is the one we were robbed of the last time these teams met. Ty Lawson will probably be able to get by MCW off the dribble, but will he be able to get his shots up past the trailing block attempt? On the other end, will Lawson's predictably horrible defensive effort be exploited by the rookie? The suspense is killing me.
Congratulations are in order for Evan Turner, who against all odds kept his offensive win shares on the positive side of the ledger through the new year. Keep up the good work.
And kudos to Sam Hinkie, whose response to Thad Young's not-so-subtle request for a new mailing address was clearly "Build some value." Thad is hitting 42% from three and averaging better than 27ppg on the current road trip. His value as a stretch four is much greater.
The tip is at 9pm. I think I'm going to be around for some of this one. Join me if your hangover has subsided and you're in the mood for another headache.
