We've officially reached the dog days of summer, so it's time for a series of posts. Starting today, we'll take a stab at predicting the production of each player on the roster. After the jump, we'll kick it off with Jodie Meeks.
I'm going to stick to basic stats for my predictions, check them out below. Leave your own thoughts and predictions in the comments.
- Minutes: 1,000 (about 15 per game)
- Points/game: 6.1
- Rebs/game: 2.0
- Ast/game: 1.0
- Steals/game: 0.5
- Blocks/game: 0.1
- TOV/game: 0.6
- DNPCDs: 8
- FG%: 42.5%
- 3PT%: 36%
I have Meeks penciled in as the second guard off the bench, behind Lou. If all goes as planned, there probably won't be a ton of extra minutes to go around at the two, and I really don't think Meeks is capable of playing anywhere else, but he will see the floor. The franchise has a stake in developing him, sooner rather than later (he's going to be a restricted free agent). Plus, he's a better shooter from deep than his competition for the spot. He also gives effort on the defensive end, which will probably earn him a little more burn from Collins.
The numbers are pretty mundane, but the important thing is that I don't think Meeks is going to kill the team in any way when he's out there. He'll come in, stick a couple jumpers, play passable defense, then get out of there. They could do worse with these minutes, in fact, they've done much worse in the past.
