There is one reason the Sixers upset the Blazers tonight in Portland. Elton Brand's unbridled aggression on the offensive end. The only thing that kept Brand from scoring 40 points was the fact that he was limited to 30 minutes of action.
Brand stepped on the floor with the Sixers trailing 51-61 with 6:54 left in the third quarter and immediately changed the tenor of the entire game by demolishing Portland's feeble interior defenders, mostly LaMarcus Aldridge.
It's a crime that Brand isn't starting for this team. An absolute crime. I hope Eddie Jordan goes back and looks at that second half. I hope he realizes the Sixers were +24 with their big lineup in the second half, and they were virtually unstoppable with both Brand and Sammy in the game together.
A big tip of the cap to the smalls, mostly Iverson, Ivey and Holiday, who saw what was happening and made a concerted effort to get him the ball and get the hell out of his way.
My full wrap will land later tonight or tomorrow, I just needed to get this thought out there. Elton Brand won this game for the Sixers tonight, no two ways about it.
