Fifty games, already? This season has seemed to fly by at times, and moved at a snail's pace at others. Right now, I think we're probably in a bit of a lull. The Sixers have played maddeningly predictable basketball - as far as wins/losses go - since the All Star break. Tonight, we just need to hope for more of the same against a Cavs club in the throws of another pitiful season.
I'm not going to sugarcoat the Sixers play over the past 20 games or so. They've won every game they definitely should've won. Lost every game they definitely should've lost, and dropped the borderline games as well, excepting the Celts. It hasn't been pretty. Flaws have been exposed. As currently constructed, they aren't going to win a championship.
There's nothing you, I, nor anyone in the front office can do about any of that over the next month-plus of the season. Right now, the Sixers are tied with the Celtics for the lead in the Atlantic Division. They hold the tie-breaker over the Celts as well. They would match up with Atlanta or Indiana if the season ended today. Coming into the season, the two goals for the team were: (1) Win the Atlantic. (2) Win a round in the playoffs. Those two goals are still well within their grasp. The rest of the down-the-road stuff doesn't matter and honestly, I'm sick of all the bitching about it. None of it matters in the least, just enjoy the games and try to get caught up in the pursuit of the two goals the team has had all season long.
The tip is at 7pm. This is your game thread. Still on vacation. Enjoy the game, have fun in the thread, keep the bellyaching to a minimum. I'll be back w/ regular site updates on Friday.
