Will tonight be the night? When the Sixers take the floor against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight, they can finally, completely erase all their hard work from the beginning of the season and drop to .500. From 20-9 to 31-31. All they have to do is want it...or not want it, depending on your definition of "it."
Doug Collins has done a superb job in setting the Sixers up for failure in this swing game. Andre Iguodala has played 74 minutes over the past two nights. Elton Brand played 35 in last night's loss to the Pacers. He went with an eight-man rotation against Orlando in the first of this back-to-back-to-back, then stretched it out to a nine-man rotation last night (with Vucevic playing only 11 minutes as the 9th man, even though he started the game).
Running on fumes, on the road, in the throes of a demoralizing collapse. The Cavs are a bad, bad basketball team, but can't the same adjectives be used to describe the Sixers? Either way, I'm sure it won't be entertaining. I derive absolutely no pleasure from watching Spencer Hawes flail about on the basketball floor, and there's nothing positive going on to distract my attention.
The tip is at 7pm. This is your game thread. I'll be here, though I probably shouldn't be.
Prediction: 31-31, folks.
