Iguodala's Victim List is notably missing one wing superstar. Tonight, he gets a chance to add Kevin Durant as the Sixers look to move 4-games over .500 with their second 4-game win streak of the season.
Lineups
- PG: Jrue Holiday vs. Russell Westbrook
- SG: Jodie Meeks vs. Thabo Sefolosha
- SF: Andre Iguodala vs. Kevin Durant
- PF: Elton Brand vs. Serge Ibaka
- C: Spencer Hawes vs. Nazr Mohammed
The tip is at 7pm. This is your game thread. I'll be right here, glued to my seat throughout. Join me if you've been looking forward to this game for a while now.
Hmmm....75 minutes until game time, most of office setting up trade show in anaheim - how early can i leave?
Video: Collins pregame on the Sixers battling fatigue, as well as the Thunder and Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook:
http://ow.ly/4bhaT
Saw this on Twitter, goes in the category of "duh":
PHL/OKC pregame: Collins says Iguodala will shadow Durant everywhere. If Durant shifts to PF, Iguodala will follow him.
I'll be catching the game late. Hope its a good one.
We need to get the victim list up on Iguodala's locker- Ocho Cinco style:
http://greatestprobowlsever.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/ochocincos-list.jpg?w=450&h=601
"Who's kissed the Iggy in '10/'11?"
Also decided to give Durant the night off from City Line Chili's. Would be great if he plays terrible.
Wow, that is commitment. I wouldn't bench a guy just because he is playing the Sixers- or are you counting on an Iggy lockdown.
Little bit of both.
I still have Westbrook going.
i typically bench players playing against the Sixers as well. Fantasy sports should never interfere with being a fan.
is Durant really only 6'9? looks taller.
They were saying he's 7' during the worlds. Actually, it was Iguodala who was saying it.
This is the toughest matchup Iguodala will have all year imo.
Only because Nocioni is ON the same team
Fair point. Marakovitz doing a voice-over report. Good directing.
Is it just me or does Andre Iguodala look a little like he's about to eat coach K in that picture?
Been waiting with extreme anticipation all day for this one. Let's go Sixers!
Looks like a good crowd.
LET'S GO!!!!!!
Yes, early arriving crowd tonight. Hope they're into it.
Hawes wins the tip.
EB in the lane over Ibaka, good!
Is Hawes sporting an Eric Montross doo?
That or a Greg Ostertag.
Jrue 4 3!
Jrue 3, turnover Durant. Keep pushing it.
Stop giving the fucking ball to Hawes.
Iguodala steal, Jodie 3!!!!1
Jo-3!
Durant crying for a foul and heaving a shot!
Jrue to Sissy for the layup.
12-2 start. Timeout OKC baby!!!!!!!
Jo(3)dee Meeks
IGUODALA!!!
Jodie mixing it up w/ the tip of a rebound, igniting a fast break. Authoritative finish by Dre!! Let's go, what a start!
Ibaka fouled Iguodala on that dunk.
lol hawes, if you didn't make that.
Now that's how you start a game :)
Sick D by Jrue on Westbrook, then the turnover for a Durant dunk. Fuck.
Spencer feeling it o boy
Sissy three! where's stoned81?
Spencer Hawes makes a 27-foot three-pointer from the top of the arc. Assist: Andre Iguodala
Junk PUnch
Actually like the hard foul by Sissy too. Wish he'd stop getting shots, though.
That's how you foul Spence!!
Come on, run the offense.
Ugh. Collins timeout. 9-3 Thunder run.
link?
That's a bad mistake by Jrue. Why leave your feet on a Westbrook three? That's usually out of his range.
Thought the same thing. Chasing guys off the three-point line is a team philosophy, though.
Too many 3 attempts - get inside on these boys
Man, it'd be a great night for Iguodala's jumper to be on.
Can't let Westbrook split like that.
Why is Hawes still in.
Damn, Jrue's struggling mightily early w/ Westbrook. Somebody has to communicate on these screens they're setting
Meeks three! Off dribble penetration. Durant three to answer.
Wait was that a two for Durant?
I think ET might be able to check Westbrook a little better than Jrue.
JRUE. More of that.
Sorry Iggy, Durant is not going on your list slugger.
Jrue seems to be complaining more.
damnit, 2nd time tonight i've messed up posting.
Not so far, that's for sure.
Weak foul by Speights.
Not a good start on Durant and Westbrook.
Jrue looks on. Let's go.
Meeks three!
OH good - Lou is in
Collins put him in when Maynor came in. Wants Jrue on Westbrook the whole way, I think.
Yes, but honestly, I'd rather he put turner in while iguodala is in than lou :)
Speights with the big block on Harden.
Speights gettin' up?
These two ads above the comment box take so long to load along w/ the personal info:( damn espn and tiqIQ..
Are you getting 'logged out' periodically during a game thread and having to sign back in?
No just been slow since this 2nd ad was added right above the comment box.
Turnover #3 for Durant.
Man, Lou w/ a terrible shot for the 2 for 1. But banks in the three. Wow.
Boss shot.
And Maynor falls for the oldest one in the book. Double wow.
Gonna have to get more frequent stops esp with the benches in, these three's we're making aren't going to last. So vital to extend any lead we have when KD and Westbrook are out.
Jrue was going off on Thad when RW split that second p&r in a row wasn't he?
Didn't see it. You mean the dunk, right?
Not sure what it ended in (think RW got fouled) but it was the second time he split it and Jrue turned around and started giving it to Thad and Thad just sort of responded as if he had messed up. But I didn't think Thad was the hedger/shower on that one though, don't have dvr.
PHI 34, OKC 28
Huge start then some big hoops to keep the lead and build it back up. Three more quarters like that and I'll be a happy man (the defense could be much better, though).
At the game...BIG crowd.
Ed Snider is working the refs...classic.
60% shooting for OKC. Ouch. Point of emphasis?
Thabo is on Thad. Go to that.
Shit. Gotta defend, guys.
Come on ET, don't token-contest. Foul the crap out of him so he can't get the shot off.
Didn't Harden beat up on Turner in summer league?
Beating up on him right now...
Speights draws the charge on Harden. Nice.
Speezy w/ the charge.
Get Lou out of this fucking game.
Thats benchable Lou.....
and jodie is hotter than a pistol! But we need to get lou out of there
Collins took the ball out of Lou's hands, at least.
how the hell did he make that
ET needs to take sefalosha there.
Taking Thabo is a pretty tall order for a wing. There are better matchups on the floor for us right now. Mostly Thad w/ whoever's on him.
Was no other option, 8 seconds on shot clock, no pass was there. He got lucky that Lou bailed him out.
Gotcha. I thought you were talking in general.
Sixers bench is not looking like a strength tonight.
Our bench should be smoking these guys.
Lou needs to not be handling the ball.
Jrue and Brand back. Get the ball to EB. First lead for OKC.
Dammit, we were up 8 right at the start of this quarter. They're up one w/ their two studs on bench. shoot
Take that 3 Jrue.
Jrue passes up so many open threes.
Ugh, Thad w/ his hand in the cookie jar.
F me, why is Lou handling the ball w/ Jrue and AI9 in there?
No flow on O right now. Careless w/ the ball. come on
The best offense we've had all game was Jrue driving. He hasn't really touched the ball since he came back in. Get Jodie in for Lou.
Fuck me. This is awful.
collison walked there.
FuCKKKKK!!! Why is lou in? Why isn't thad attacking? Why are we playing small when nick collison of all people is tearing us up?
Collison is their best center. Not sure why Nenad started before and Nazr is starting now.
Gotta bear down now. Early emotion wearing off and you just have to beat them. OKC looks much more comfortable in the halfcourt than we do.
Heh, I have a harvey pollack bobble head in my room lol.
Dammit Thad blowing the gimmie. Good find by Dre too. shit
Thad is on Durant, I think. wtf?
Blown bunny for Thad. Can't have that shit tonight.
And a bullshit whistle for Durant, again.
missed bunny thad
Thad has been wild on all his attempts tonight. He needs to settle down.
Just a really poor quarter. Bad play by Jrue to give up the cheapie to Durant in transition. Of course, if Thad doesn't blow the bunny...
AI9 three off Jrue penetration. Keep the fucking ball in Jrue's hands, damnit.
Son of a bitch.
Harden deflected that pass from Dre there.
There you go AI9. Just muscle him into the post and make him foul you.
Yeah Dre, use that power dribble and back them down. More of that, no matter who's on him.
He'd get called for an offensive foul if he did that to Durant. Guaranteed.
agree, unfortunately
Rebound the god damn ball
Our guys never seem to jump to rebound.
Big to get it back to tied...the energy was flowing out of the place.
They need to close the half well. Westbrook is ridiculous.
Blown bunny for Jrue, layup on the other end. Ugh.
Get ET out of there and put Thad in.
ET doesn't have it today.
Man, Jrue needs to be running this fucking offense.
gosh brand has no lift on his shots.
Heh, Snow called that a pick and roll but EB never set a pick
3 on Harden.
a Jrue, Lou, Meeks, Iggy lineup? wtf?
Dag, Jrue does a great job of crouching down and being on his toes but RW dishes it for a slam. ugh
Lou w/ the ender!
Shore up the D please and we all go home happy.
That was about the best iso defense you can play on Westbrook right there. still wound up w/ a dunk for Ibaka.
PHI 55, OKC 55 at the half.
24-minute games, fellas.
Jrue has outplayed Westbrook, believe it or not.
care to elaborate? curious why you say that....
Jrue's penetrating at will on Westbrook, Jrue's at least putting up a fight on the other end. Lines are very similar between the two. 4/9, 11pts, 3 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, 0 turns for Jrue. 5/9, 12pts, 2 boards, 8 dimes, 0 steals, 4 turns for Westbrook. Turnovers make the difference in Jrue's favor.
As poorly as they played in the 2nd, they are lucky to be tied.
Oh...did I say that Westbrook is ridiculous?
Jrues doing ok, so are AI9 and J.Meeks... but our bench just makes me sad...
Here's the big question. Do the Sixers have the legs on the second night of the B2B to keep pushing for another 24 minutes?
Brand doesn't
Freaking Grizz - why are teams laying down against the knicks
They're only down 3 in the first.
Was more when i wrote that - it was 10 :)
Was thinking the same thing as soon as we came out pushing the ball at the beginning.
Think it's key that KD has only been to the line 4 times. We just can't keep hitting three's at the same clip. Defense was about as bad as last night at IND, to me. Got to hedge hard/blitz that high pick and roll they were killing us w/ early.
Watching Brand out there, I wonder if he has the tank to play at a high level until May. He looks sl-o-o-o-w out there...
He played 32 minutes last night, right?
If we're going to have any chance, Thad needs to show up in the second half. He did nothing in his run in the first.
He looks slow only because the other guys on his team are lightning fast. Brand is/will be OK.
He'll be fine in the playoffs - but on back to backs he's just going to be slow
Alright, let's go. Quick start to the third.
Foot on the line, Jrue. Ugh.
Fucking Hawes tapped that board to OKC. Grab the damned ball.
Good job driving, Jrue.
Rebound the effin ball. Geez.
I like Angry Jrue.
JRUE!!!
Just great hustle by Jrue to go and get that ball
I'm fine w/ sefolosha 22-footers.
Ibaka just threw AI9 out of the way of that pick.
Anyone pay for basketball prospectus?
http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1534
REBOUND THE DAMN BALL
Yeah, I do. I'll read it later.
Is it worth getting?:)
Grab the fucking ball you scrub.
Marreese coming in, Doug tired of watching flail at the boards.
Meeks
EB!
Come on, Jrue. Carry us.
He made it - but Jrue just did his best Lou imitation with Westbrook guarding Speights - I don't like that
Whew, Jrue made it but thought he should have threw the lob to Speights.
SHit Sefolosha 3? ugh
he makes em some times - so does Iguodala :)
AI9 three off Jrue penetration!
Dre 3! Tighten up on D just a l'il guys. LEt's go!
Good half a quarter. Just finish it off the same or maybe we actually get something out of the bench this time?
GRAB A GOD DAMN REBOUND
d-boards are killing us and it's because of all the doubles.
The rebounding percentage right now is just pathetic - under 60%
That's 3 o-boards given up this quarter. come on
Speights. from Jrue!
Jrue with the sick lob to Speights and the breakaway dunk for AI9!!!!!!
Brian how did you like that lob?
Sick.
EB.
Sigh another o-board.
That lob to sspeights from Iguodala was bad and Speights wasn't ready.
Put Turner in and tell him one thing
REBOUND
Agree.. and don't let Harden punk you
Word.
Lou can play like shit - and get in in the second half - blow a 4 point lead all by himself
Turner - I'll be surprised to see him play this half
Lou in - nice turnover - dunk in transition for the thunder
Turner won't get in in the second half because of his poor first.
Lou SUCKS
omg lou? already
Why is Lou in this game???
God damnit. Jrue to the bench and Lou is completely assfucking this offense.
Lou see that baseline, that's a third defender.
Bench brigade has to step up.
Lou going to the sideline this time, come on step your game up
Lou comes in and effs up. That never happens...
Jodie is guarding Harden...
Thad looks bad out there.
Our bench is an albatross tonight.
Yep. Thad's doing nothing positive. Lou's doing plenty, mostly negative.
He's going to run Jrue the entire fourth, I think. Getting him two minutes rest here. I just hope it doesn't completely kill them.
Turner needs to play - he's really the best damn rebounder on this team (sad but true)
See Thad tonight - that's why I worry about the contract extension.
Bad games can happen to anyone... It's fine as long as it happens rarely.
Good games against bad teams happen a lot and get people real exciting. This is a big game and Thad comes up smaller than a church mouse...
Meeks with the slam!
I think Jrue was surprised Meeks could dunk
That's twice we've relinquished leads when the bench came in.
BS call ref. Come on!
Bullshit call
Oh, fuck you Durant. That's such god damned bullshit.
That was fucking bullshit.
Why are the Lou isos back doug - WHY?
PHI 80, OKC 82 after three.
Lou orchestrates a meltdown at the end to ruin what was a pretty good quarter. Better see Jrue running the show for the entire fourth.
Don't think he's going to run Jrue entire fourth Brian b/c of the minutes from last night. I'd expect he'll only bring him back when Brooks brings back RW.
If he wants to win, he should.
Totally agree, just looking at it from his angle. Jrue admitted publicly he was tired the other week so just going off that and the b2b
Kids 20 - got some young legs - put him in now and let them run and maybe build a lead while westbrook is out
BUt MUST remove Lou from the game - and I'm not sure Thad should stay in
Someone who can rebound needs to be on the floor
Lou takes more off the table than any other player in the NBA. Just seeing him on the court makes me angry.
If they just box out even a little bit this quarter.
KD on the bench to start maybe?
We pretty much have to get thad out of there and go with jrue, meeks, iggy, speights, brand
Turner in - lou still in - thad still in - this five scares the crap out of me
Man, this is a huge stretch w/ Meeks as the only starter on the floor.
I HATE YOU LOU
wtf is a healthy three??
Swapping misses so far.
This might be the worst lineup i've seen this year.
Durant gets the continuation on that play. (the Meeks foul)
Ha, there's Meeks shot out of a cannon again..
Meeks has been really solid tonight.
Thad - you can't post up eric maynor?
OKC is collapsing on Thad.
If you say - he seemed to have enough time to try and make a move and take an ugly shot
More like, "Lou, it takes you 8 seconds to make the entry pass?"
There we go, Thad.
goddamn it...
Maybe Lou doesn't know what a pick and roll is?
Lou! Let's go, Lou's scoring has been huge tonight off the bench. The only one doing anything in that category.
Jrue has 19
He's a starter, talking about the bench. Though Speights has done his share too I think
think he meant scoring off the bench.
Alright, Doug. Jrue can go the rest of the way. Though Lou just got hot.
Jrue should have the fucking ball here. Let Lou run off screens for catch-and-shoot opps.
They call lane violations in the nba?
YEAH THAD!
Damn, Thad can't buy one tonight
Shit. Perfect drive for Thad and it rims out.
What a play by Iguodala in transition. that's huge. Let's go. Get this lead right back.
It just sucks the life out of me when Westbrook makes one from damn near Jersey...
Has iggy always had the knee brace on?
I hate the grizzlies
Hope he subs Meeks for Lou here and keep everyone else the same to run til the end. Meeks has came up w/ some big boards tonight.
How come super defender Tony Allen isn't shutting Melo down?
Thad. Nice.
Great call out of the timeout Doug, to Thad down low
Put Turner in for lou - NEED REBOUNDS
FUCK YES! JRUE THREE!!!!
Jrue sized that one up! Don't raise the roof yet Jrue
damn it lou - stupid 3 early in the offense durant gets transition 2 - idjit
Fuck me. Iguodala goes under, no show by the big on Durant. Can't do that.
Elton - don't let Collison box you out
Does anyone doubt this will come down to the last minute?
Lou w/ the sweet pass-fake and and-one opp!
Come on. Keep up this fucking pressure and work the fucking boards.
Lou Williams---always liked him :)
The thunder have been in the pnealty since about 6 minutes - be aggressive damn it
They're in the penalty. Capitalize on it!
Keep getting to the line.
They're free.
did Doug really just tell Jrue to give Lou the ball
Yeah Jrue - you kicked it - cause Ibaka threw it into your foot :)
That was not a kick! BS
It hit his foot - just the pas was at it...
Man, I hate to say it, but is anyone better at drawing contact on the sixers than Lou?
lol, you hate him above though. dare you say it....
Hey - like I said earlier this esason, lou is VERY good at scoring (and drawing fouls) - he just does little else :)
Terrible call. Great D by Jrue on Westbrook there.
Lou to the line again. Hit the freebies.
Crowd is into it, baby!
Great D by Jrue on RW.
\
Make em pay Lou!
How was that not goal tending on the follow for the thunder?
LOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Yes lou, keep being aggresive. It's funny that no matter what lou does good in a game as soon as he does something bad the haters on this page put a comment quickly.
I beat you to the positive LOUUUUUUUUU!!!! so suck it.
Lou 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop please!!
LOUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!
How the HELL did that 3 from lou go in?
Ref had a terrible angle to make that call
Dammit Lou should have swung it initially after receiving the pass, he waited and messed up Jrue's rhythm
Not drawing the foul seemed to confuse him I think
Lou
Love the crowd.
I'm most impressed by the crowd right now.
Not sure that foul should be on lou - durant lost the ball all by himself - incidental contact ref
Come on. Finish this fucking shit.
ref go fuck urself...
Did I just see an MMO commercial during a sixer game? WTF
Perfect D.. staggered rotation by Thad was ideal
Please do not give up the three.
Jrue digs out the huge fucking board. Come on. Put two on the board here.
Ugh. 24 second violation.
Be smart now.
Not a good possession. No one wanted to take the shot dammit.......come the eff on@!
People say a lot about clutch scoring, but the sixers have been rebounding clutch in the fourth...as opposed to the first 3.
How do you NOT get a shot off?
Well guys we do give lou a hard time because he does make some bone-headed plays. But he is a really good player at drawing fouls and when he's hot i laugh at all of the crazy shots he jacks up and makes.
EB!!!!!! Needed that board.
Come on, end this shit. UGH.
Big board EB!
Finish these MF'ers off!! Waited all day for this.......
Horrible shot. Just drive to the effing rim for the love of all that is holy.
C'mon lou..
I'm losing my shit here. Come on. One hoop wins this game.
Jesus Durant - how does that go in
One stop. Man, how did Durant hit that last shot?
RUn them off the line or foul them please.
come on iggy, Why'd you pump fake?
lol, can you close a game any worse.
If Andre Iguodala ever had a moment to get the city on his side - it was after he beat Durant just then (before the airball) damn double clutch
Don't foul. Worst-case, they hit the shot and you have a chance to win it.
How in gods name does Kevin Durant just make shots like that
rly iggy ? thats the play you go with? jesus...
It's Turner's fault
damn he is good
Only the sixers.
Fuck, just foul them Doug..............sheesh just foul the guy up top w/ the ball before the pass is even deliverd. man............
How the fuck did that go in?
Regroup. 6.2 seconds here. Win it or overtime. Under no circumstances does OKC get the ball back in regulation.
fuckin KD...
If the play involves lou and he dribbles into a double team while ignoring a wide open shooter - i hate him
Please don't bring lou back in.
I want Meeks taking this shot.
this shit always happens. I don't see how this always happens to the philly sixers. Well one more shot. I would go with lou to take it all the way to the hole.
Charge. they're losing this game right here.
The end of this game couldn't be going any worse for Iguodala
AFter seeing that replay, why was that not a moving screen on that Durant tying 3? The guy never fully set himself.
Because it's the NBA and with that little time on the clock certain things don't get called unless you're the sixers
Overtime - better than I could have hoped for 2 hours ago - but again - like the mavs- the sixers should have won this in regulation
That was so blatant though, the guy was rooting his rear end into Dre for about 2-3 feet, constantly moving.
I'm not disagreeing with you - I'm just telling you how it works.
If Kobe, Or James, runs westbrook over - do you think it's called on them - or do you think Westbrook is called for a block - or there's no foul at all?
Yeah, I knew what you meant about the league, just thought that was so darn obvious. I've always despised the slanted calls just because of the sanctity of the game, and disliked it ever since Bird used to get the benefit of the doubt, then Jordan.
I honestly didn't see it - I saw Durant get a look - I knew it was going in - and the sixers replay focused on Evan Turner NOT rotating so Iguodala had to run to try and get a hand in his face
I love this team.
Game over.
AI are you fuckin kiddin me?
THought this roller coaster ride was over....few more laps i guess..
This game has felt like a lifetime already
Had to take a breath there.
OK. 5 minutes to glory.
PHI 101, OKC 101 after regulation.
heh in the final 2 minutes did the sixers only manage to put up 1 shot that got to the rim?
Winning teams versus mediocre teams - right there
Knicks up 15 with 9:47 left in the 3rd
Seriously - what the hell Grizzlies
Well i don't think i would let iggy have any more isos at the end of the game anymore.
Up 3, I'm a fan of fouling where the most they can get is 2 and then they're going to send you to the line immediately after theirs. Shoot....
Two shot clock violations and an offensive foul.
Sweet.
Let Jrue run the show, please.
Don't pick up your fucking dribble. Jrue.
Ugh. Not the way to open OT.
JODIE!
Defense and rebounding - defense and rebounding
How many o-boards do you want to give them?
yes - give the thunder three chances - i'm sure they'll miss them all
game over
Doug needs a timeout. They're fucking asleep and OKC smells blood.
Dre is combusting here.
nice one meeks...
Refs getting whistle happy. RW ran into him, Thad had his back turned. cheap call
fuck this.
OMFG rebound the fucking ball!
Their feet look like they are in quicksand.
jesus christ iggy, pull yourself together...
I hate to say this, but bring Lou back in. It can't get much worse.
Doug's may be making a mistake by keeping the ball in Dre's hands here instead of Jrue's
That whistle bailed the Sixers out of another empty possession, temporarily at least.
Put the ball in Jrue's hands doug - this is stupid
Jesus, get a shot off for fuck's sake.
This team has no focus in overtime - everyone is a mess on the offensive end (it's not juts Iguodala) no one wants to shoot - everyones is looking horrible.
Jesus this is pathetic - what a waste of a good effort
seriously... dre... what the fuck?
Stop it already
That's not a charge. Come on.
Fucking flop.
How in the name of God are we only down by 1
Oh my, EB w the clock beater
COME ON
This is awful on so many levels.
thad doesn't have it tonight
Fucking halfway down the fucking cock.
Damn it Jodie - wide open
Why did Jrue pull that up?
Two Jodie 3's.....nope...why Jrue did you not attack there?
Because they're down 3 I guess. Instead of taking the easy two and playing defense they wanted to play for a three.
It's aggravating this game - because they should have won in regulation. Not winning in regulation seems to have flustered them.
Here's an idea Doug - set some picks to get Meeks an open look
Jodie put some chalk on those sweaty palms... jesus
And Meeks gets the wide open three look. Come on, I'm having a heart attack here.
This game is kind of epic. It's the worst basketball you can possibly play and we are still not totally out of it.
And illegal screen. Lovely.
NOW they call the illegal screen
Seriously?
Come the fuck on!! How is that shit screen illegal and the Durant tying three isn't??? Seriously, someone w/ DVR go back and compare the two....just bullcrap!!
Refs giving this game to OKC. So many fucking flops.
A fucking Westbrook 20-footer to seal it. FML.
Why did Lou sit the entire OT - he was the only one getting any thing going offensively?
Come on - the booing - if it's for the sixers - is uncalled for
Dre is just out of control at the end of games. I mean, you leave them 1.9 because you're too geeked up to read the defense
I'm pretty sure that was towards the refs
PHI 105, OKC 110 I quit for the night.
This kind of game makes me hate basketball. Not the collapse or anything but the fact that all calls seem to swing against us. In our own building no less. It's fucking bullshit.
Too. fu&@&&*&@@!!!!. true.
If Lou's perfectly clean steal isn't called a foul - we win...
They weren't executing when it mattered though
If Andre Iguodala is Kobe or Lebron the charge doesn't get called - and the sixers win.
They gave a great effort, but I think they just had nothing left in overtime - also some questionable coaching moves in the OT in my opinion.
The key problem though was the first through third quarters - the rebounding. The sixers were below 60% on the defensive glass through the first three quarters - you can't give a team like Oklahoma City that many extra possessions.
He was out of control. I thought that was a good call. The other ones they made? Well, we'll just leave it at that I disagreed.
Answer the question. If it's kobe, or wade, or paul, or derrick rose, do they make the same call?
While that game was kind of fun, I just hope none of the playoff games have that much of an effect on my heart and blood pressure please.
Wanted that one so bad. Just a few d-boards here, one there, and some non-lousy officiating and different result maybe.
I know this, we are a force to be reckoned with, win or lose tonight. Good things to come on Friday, I hope, I wanted that one way worse than I wanted this one anyway. Still disappointing as all get out though. u.g.h.
Ugh, another gutcheck loss. Gotta say, Andre was terrible down the stretch on offense. KD got him tonight too, which happens. The point forward offense wasn't great though. Thad/Speights were really disappointing on defense too.
I hate basketball.
Knicks Grizz are on NBA TV
However the knicks have a 13 point lead with about a minute left in the 3rd
Wish someone could please post a youtube clip of the Durant tying 3 screen at end of regulation and the EB bullcrap call near the end of overtime on his screen. Interesting similar, but contrasting calls.
The clippers are leading the celtics in boston - yuck
Elton lowered his shoulder into Harden. I can't blame the refs for this one.
Would have liked a look for Lou at the end of regulation (can't believe I'm saying that) He was really carrying them in the 4th
Refs suck, that's their nature. Sixers should've won this game with it being called exactly how it was. Don't use that excuse.
Serious question - lebron james, kobe bryant, are they called for the charge?
I'm not saying that's where they lost - they lost with the lousy rebounding which if even league average would have given the sixers game in regulation...I'm just curios if you think lebron, or kobe, or wade, or chris paul gets called for that charge?
Probably not.
And hence the problem...if Iguodala was one of those 'names' the sixers lock up the game on the wide open make by thad young - but Iguodala isn't the 'name' he should be - so the sixers do suffer do to the way the game is officiated - at that moment - just like the moving screen -just like the BS call on Lou when Durant just lost the damn ball
Kobe probably pulls up, LeBron takes a step-back, and Paul finds Thad before it's even an issue.
I love Andre, but it's hard to put other players in his body. Different guys would do different things.
It avoids the question...it's a simple question.
How should I know? They should be called for it. LeBron didn't get bailed out the other day against the Bulls when he jumped into Noah.
Again, you miss the basic point with your harping on things like "perception" and star whistles. Iguodala was too hyped up, put his head down and got called for a charge. That's a good call.
Answer my question: Do you not think that was a charge?
I don't know if Westbrook was in the circle.
What I'm seeing is a lot of people who want to blame Iguodala for the sixers loss - and there's a lot of blame to go around - especially the sixers front court and their inability to rebound.
Wasn't in the circle. So do you not think it was a charge?
I think it's easy to say "Kobe gets that call, BS!" and just think the world is against us. Just look at that play in a vacuum. That was a charge.
One more thing: Please stop getting all bent out of shape when people are critical of Iguodala. That doesn't mean they hate him or anything. Criticism of Iguodala for the team's offense down the stretch is fair. He is initiating pretty much every play, and he failed to get them good shots.
He's not alone of course, other people shit the bed. Oh well, it's only one game.
Totally agree, just frustrating as deliberate as it's been in some of the games this year.
I know coaches have their philosophies as well as fans, but you would think after Monta the other night there was no way Doug would even let them attempt a 3, instead fouling and playing that game and taking your chances. Really wish they would have done that.
I don't like it in that situation. You're risking giving them the ball w/ a shot to win it if they hit both and then you split a pair on the other end. Just play your best defense and try to prevent the three. Even if they hit it, you're still in the driver's seat w/ the ball and a chance to win in regulation. If there are like 3 seconds left, then you have an argument.
I see your view. But just as your 'if' scenario, there's the flip to that and if they hit both and we hit both we're still up 3 and worst they can do is tie w/ under 5 sec left or just foul them and play the game again. Or, they split and you make both and you're up 4 now. I like that philosophy w/ under 10 sec left or especially when you're playing a ruthless player/scorer ala Monta or KD.
why? just why? its always my favorite team it seems just demoralizing
The grizz have a 29-2 free throw attempt advantage (and are losing by 8)
Amare just went to the bench - the Grizz are making a little run right now...there's still some hope
Big run, now. Only a 6-point game.
and now back to 10 - it's over soon
Jrue with no turnovers? Durant with only 5 free throw attempts? Only one attempt the whole second half? And we lose? We had the same offensive boards as they did? But lost? 5 less turnovers than them? 41% from deep?
Guess it was Thad not finding the cotton and too much iron, and Evan disappearing against an upper defensive team. Oh, and no one to get their own look in crunch time.
/venting over..
It's not total offensive rebounds - it's the percentage of available rebounds - the sixers percnetage on the defensive glass was a bit worse due to the overall total.
So Frazier made a statement in the grizz game before I turned it off something to the fact of 'super stars, it's not how they get their points (referring to number of shots) but when'. Really Durant made two shots most nba players wouldn't have made to get it into over time while on the other end the sixers had a shot clock violation and the charge by iguodala.
The sixers can not afford to let good teams be that good on the glass, and they lack the players to prevent a team of the size of the thunder (or grizzlies for that fact) from getting lots of extra attempts. I know they had the same amount - but the sixers were 'worse' on the defensive glass because of 7 less overall rebounds
Yeah, I realized the disparity in overall boards, just pointing out that we had just as many 2nd chance opportunities as them and got just as many shot attempts for the game. Didn't seem like we got that many o-boards during the game, that's all.
I get what you're saying.
Really disappointing game. Games like this are aggravating, as I always find games like this, where I didn't think they had a chance to win and then they change my mind, the hardest to watch cause they get me all excited about winning and then lay that overtime egg.
Just like the Mavs game when people started going 0-2 at the line. The game was in their grasp against an upper echelon team and really - they gave it away
Evan Turner got very few minutes in the second half :)
