After an extremely uneasy day, the Sixers will finally have a chance to erase the memory of game three from our minds. Can they get back on track, playing the ball that carried them through the first round and the first two games against Boston, or will the season end in every meaningful way tonight?
I'd love to say I have confidence the Sixers will learn their lessons from game three and turn this thing around tonight, but the only thing I've learned for sure from this season is there's absolutely no way to tell how this team is going to react.
The tip is at 8pm on ESPN. This is your game thread. I'll be here throughout, cross your fingers and join me. This is the season, folks.
Prediction: Heart says win. Head says...nothing.
Team is just too hard to read, I must admit after the egg they laid a couple days ago I just wrote the series off, even if it goes 7, I don't think they're going to win it after they blew their chance in game 3, but win game 4 and it's back to 'on track' (though I still don't think they can win the series, unless they some how blow out the celtics tonight).
It was kind of disappointing (sure they're missing bosh but still) to see the pacers come out and put the kind of 'statement' as it's called together in their game 3 that the sixers couldn't do.
If I were forced to pick a winner for tonight, I'd pick Boston
If the pacers somehow make the finals, i'm going to be very disappointed
I'll be in the house tonight. Hopefully the fans can provide some juice for the team.
Gotta bring the double team to KG sooner.
Need to keep Rondo from getting easy layups.
Need ET and AI9 to have good offensive games.
Let's go, White!
Hopefully the fans can provide some juice for the team.
Game 3 would seem to indicate that fan frenzy doesn't really help (and in general, it seems the only thing fan frenzy really adds is some subconscious influence to officials on calls that could go either way - just saying ;)
In the Bulls series the Sixers were 3-0 at home, and 1-2 in Chicago. I can hope.
But see, what you're doing is assuming a relationship that doesn't actually exist (with data to back it up in a book called scorecasting really). You're concluding that because the sixers were 3-0 against the bulls it was because of the fans...there's a technical term that I never get right, but basically there are any number of factors (Joakim Noah being hurt for instance) that could be the cause of the sixers being 3-0 at home...hell - one game the stadium was half empty at the beginning because of a run...the bulls didn't jump out to a ginormous lead because of a less than full crowd did they?
In general, the impact of a rabid fan base making a lot of noise isn't huge one way or another, except (it seems, the data is anecdotal and unprovable really) to influence refs on the '50/50' calls because of all the fan noise, psychologically / subconsciously you get 'sucked in' by it even if you aren't supposed to.
I'm not saying don't scream your lungs out, I'm just saying that it's unlikely it makes a difference to the energy level of the players (who really should already be at 100% energy level in game 4 of the playoffs at home)
Well, ESPN is actually talking about the Sixers/Celts. Or I should say they're talking about how the Celtics are going to the Finals. "Don't count them out against San Antonio or OKC."
So they don't think the Pacers can put up a fight against the Celtics? I disagree with that premise
i hope nava starts tomorrow vs blanton
sorry wrong blog to put his on, wasnt even paying attention
Really not a fan of Doris Burke. I know a lot of people like her, though.
Alright, show some life early, please. Don't come out flat.
Uh oh, that Goodie Mob again....good things good things.
Hope I guess...
Cast all that hoot and hollering aside, and just keep focusing on your destination, win. Silly wabbit tricks are for kids....
Holly Rowe's twitter is @sportsiren? That's a reach.
l.e.t.s. go
Great screen set by Rondo that time, hmmmn.
Aaaand we're off...Hawes loses the tip.
Let's check matchups:
Turneron Rondo
Brand on Garnett.
Pierce hits a contested shit shot on the first possession.
Brand misses the gimme. Hawes lets Bass stroll to the rim and then fouls him. Awesome, awesome start.
Wake the fuck up.
If EB can't hit that midrange shot, that hurts the Sixers offense a lot. That starting unit already has trouble putting points up.
Please score here.
shit
great start guys
f me
So one shot for Brand, then a shot for Hawes. And Boston scores 6 on their first three possessions. Let's see if we can get a 20-footer for Turner here. High percentage stuff.
Nope, missed three at the buzzer, then Hawes hands a rebound to Boston. Pierce three on the other end. Timeout.
Fuck you all.
I might stop watching if Hawes is still in the game after this timeout.
The positive I see is that the Sixers are being beaten down for the right reason- the terrible froncourt. I'd rather this be exposed in the playoffs to where the FO can't tell itself that the Sixers team defense is good enough to mask Hawes and a declining Brand.
starting Brand is just irresponsible coaching. He can't make a 5 foot shot or defend KG. There really is no reason to start him, we don't have that much room for error. Not trying to blame him for all our early problems, but that coaching decision clearly isn't helping.
And this isn't an overreaction, but they need to act like they even want to play, because the C's execution is superb. yeah we help them out a lot with that from our lack of D but, just their use of a screen is textbook lots of times. We aren't as precise as them and don't nearly have the shooters they do, so we have to just outwork them and out-hustle them and hope it falls our way.
No sub, awesome.
Turnover. Corner three. 12-0
and Avery is hitting from deep...sheesh
There's the bricked Turner jumper we were looking for.
There's your Evan 20 footer. CLANK
Give me a reason to keep watching this game.
You love the 76ers like me?
2 on hawes!!!!
And Hawes turns it over in transition.
Yeah get him on the sidelines please.
Good news- 2 on Hawes. Force Collins hand.
Jeebus wth
points!!!!
Jrue for 2. It won't be a shutout.
Wow Jrue had his lunch money taken by Avery that time...
Jrue, can't be loose w/ the ball when Bradley is on you.
Btw, Turner has a huge advantage on Rondo, he can post him. We won't see that happen once.
I stand corrected. Took them fucking long enough. Foul on Rondo. Go right back to it.
Execute. please?
Now Thad wants to go between the legs, geez, Bass again, welp
just what I was afraid of. and we have to watch this?
Wake the fuck up. Jesus christ.
that was bad, thad to the line
I can only wish my Sixers would show this much aggression that the hated is showing right now. wow
They better or else, Thad misses freebie
Holly hell ... what are they doing?
Look at the look on all our guys faces, who's leading out there?
For fuck's sake, Thad.
Another bleeping turnover. What do you know, they convert off it, great effort guys
I honestly don't think they can recover from this start.
Young is my favorite Sixer.
That said... HE HAS BEEN WORSE THAN HAWES.
PUT TURNER BACK IN THE POST.
Thad with another turnover.
That's it. I'm going to bed. Enjoy...
Are we playing hot potato or basketball when we have the ball?
This series is starting to look like their prior 3 years in the playoffs- they are initially competitive, but as the series goes on the Sixers lay down, roll over and play dead.
Our guys look timid or shocked or i don't know what adjective, you guys pick...they're looking like they have no mettle to respond to the C's energy being exerted.
Hawes back in, Lou for Jrue. Wonderful.
And we gladly let them pack it in, Dre fires a jumper.
Turner brick.
They make us swing it for an ET J, you know the result..
Very disappointed in there start to the game I would have thought they come out with more fire after being embarrassed the other night on there on floor.
Nice box, Spence. Awesome.
at least we're getting some good looks at long 2s
watching hawes trying to gather himself to block a shot is comical. Thad another turnover. what the hell.
They realize we can't execute against their D, so they just invite and let us shoot, which we can't most of the time, that is if we aren't turning it over again...
Is that Thad's fourth turnover?
sad
Turner brick. At least he was in the post that time.
Evan I hope didn't say anything to Hollins, cause what the hell does he have to talk about?
this cannot be how the season ends
not with a bang, but a surrender.
Does Thad know he plays for the Sixers the ones in the white Jersey
god damn
I feel betrayed
I'd really prefer they didn't throw the ball ahead to Lou. He got bailed out on the call, though. Pity call. Hit 'em both.
If is really isn't over, we have to have it to around 7 before half. Long time to go, just grow a sack.
Someone please ask Collins:
Why do you think Hawes/Thad/Lou is an effective combination. Because I think nit is a nightmare lineup every time it is on the floor.
ugh. Hawes long jumper.
Make Rondo the extra pass. How fucking hard is that?
Hawes...blows.
What was Thad doing there? Seriously. He wasn't guarding anyone, just let Bass catch the ball 12 feet away.
AI9 to the line, think that's 2 on Pierce.
That must weigh about 190lbs right now. I think he is useless as an NBA player right now. Either he is hurt or too low below playing wt Either way I'd rather play Sam Young.
AI9 to the line. Hit them both please. Think of your son.
And our possession ends w/ a Hawes J . just good offense i'm telling you.
Bass 10 Sixers 7
and this is game 4 of east semi-finals? please tell me i'm dreamin'....
That's fine. Give that jumper to Rondo.
Lavoy gives Rondo the J, bloop.
Thad smacked, Laavoy brick. Dre brick. To the line.
Thad...
They're free. You guys suck.
Did Thad really just fucking bail them out that badly? Ryan Hollins in the post w/ 2.5 seconds left on the clock and he fouls?
Make a darn shot Jodie.
Hooray. Lou/Meeks/Turner
How about just a stop? How about it?
Not even trying to launch that desperation heave. Fuck you guys.
1 for 14 for Turner, yikes
yeeaaaahhhhh sarcastically
Turner bricked layup. Jrue cleans it up w/ a pretty shot. I think Jrue needs to take about 30 shots tonight.
PHI 12, BOS 24 after one.
Abortion of a quarter.
So, he goes with Lou/Meeks/Turner to start the second, right? If he does, you have to wonder if he's been paying attention at all.
Jrue is 2/3. The rest of the team is 1/13 with 5 turnovers.
Jrue looks like the only player worthy of PT.
I can't believe Boston has only 24 points. seems like 40.
As disheartening as that was, they're only down 12. 36 minutes left to be played.
That may have been the most depressing quarter of basketball I've ever watched.
Except maybe for the 3rd quarter Wed. night.
If we'd just ever get a center and shooting guard, these playoffs would tilt ever so slightly at times, seems like forever since we had truly legitimate ones.
He was just waiting for that double.
Turner brick from 6 feet.
Evan with a thud of a shot, in close too, why miss that bad?
Good rotation there. Turner+1 in transition. Like the outlet, love the finish, finally. Let's fucking go.
And he misses the +1.
Ball off Garnett's vulva, Sixers ball.
of course ET misses the free throw after the and-one.
ET +1! just for fun... nope he's allergic to free throws too
another damn turnover....arrggghhhhh
Lou turnover. Good lord this is ridiculous.
Lou, you suck.
Lavoy D's up KG.
Great D by Lavoy. He did the pushing on KG. Get a hoop!
Tell em Doug, good talk there in that huddle. stay positive.
long time left, that early burst could possibly come back to bite them old legs.
Turner hits a bank shot. I know it doesn't count, but it seems like a big play.
Brand could've had that rebound. Just watched it go out of bounds.
yeah, thought he must have been too far from the ball, but he's almost limping
Lou, from deep, CLANK>
That basket should count. You can't rock the rim like that!
they actually seem to have relaxed, amazing
Jrue to the line. Hit 'em both.
These guys just are so frustrating at times at their lack of attention to detail. Maddening.
That shot chart there by ESPN, can someone pass the Kleenex? damn
basically we've rmade four shots, FIVE ALLEN, and we're only down six? yeah, i'm in.
I will be.... Rondo+1
Good work, Jrue. Stops now.
Lou, you fucking suck. Great follow, Lavoy.
Bailout and-one for rondo. Ugh.
Did not see a foul on that.
Get Lou out please. He almost blew that break after the hard work by Jrue.
Plug away is the motto right....what else do they have? Their coach?
Turner has no prayer on Rondo, you need to keep Jrue on him.
Just let Bass keep shooting it, geez
ET, stop please.
Great find by AI9. Turner finishes. Come the fuck on.
wait. how do you pick up the foul by "trying to pull the chair on him"?
Get the fucking rebounds!
Go Jrue....Lavoy brick...
Great D, Lavoy.
Thad, you're too weak.
i'm at work and not able to watch... any chance someone can a be little more detailed? thnx
JRUE SLAM!!!!!
jrue
Jrue SLAM! YEAH
We look'd to have some spunk on D that possession that time, even though they got a layup.
I'd rather have a possessions like that than a lazy possession that gives them a wide-open elbow jumper. Though I guess the result is the same.
Listen, if you're going to have any prayer, you need to keep attacking the rim. No matter what, just get in the paint and go at the rim.
ET needs to stop shooting outside of 2 feet
amazing how many shots Turner has blocked
i can live with blocked shots at rim, i cant live with long 2's
We need to set and use screens. period. haven't done it all year though. they have to execute in the half-court and if they don't then they're not gonna get many runouts vs this team.
Jesus, Turner. You have to be kidding me.
attack the rim & wear them down
the score?
Thad with another idiotic foul. 31-23, Boston.
Ah, Thad went in the cookie jar, he should have just strayed away from it
AI9 to the line. 5:04 left and they're in the penalty. ATTACK THE RIM EVERY TIME DOWN THE FLOOR!
F me. Can't leave these points at the line.
missing free throws
This game is right there, if they're gonna keep shooting these shots they're getting, they're going to have to make some of em. we can't even make freebies, Dre this time. and two Dre, shit
jesus
and he blows the mf'ing dunk!!
now a layup geebus
4 v 1 break gets them 0 points. Holy shit
I'd like to see a closer look at the screen that sprung Pierce there.
Hit your fucking free throws, Turner.
3 on Bass.
let's make 2 here ET
Pierce 3
ET to the line. first, good, second, good.
Boston went small, Sixers didn't counter. How did Pierce get that open?
ET back to the line.
Freebies again. CLANK ET
Thad on Avery Bradley. They have to have a huge size mismatch on the other end.
Moving screen KG, good call
Ha, the fan hollered back at KG yipping to the ref, "he saw that shit!"
Can't fucking buy a hoop. Come on. Come the fuck on.
Jrue, we need you to shoot more.
Love the effort guys, but damn, they counter.
Jrue stunts the run. damn man come on
They were so close to the rim two times there. and ET nor Lavoy could see it had a net. brutal
canNOT make a layup
Jrue shooting might be our only weapon
Do something here. Close hard for 2. I mean, if y'all can and everything...
They have to understand this is not the 1st round anymore.
This might be the strangest game I've ever seen.
agree it really is a weird one, in the truest sense of the word.
Fuck Paul Pierce.
Come on, guys. Fucking turnover.
ET jumps then passes. Jrue steps on line. geez still only down 11 after this mess
3 on Bradley. AI9 to the line. Hit 'em both for the love of...
nothing easy
Dre is wayyy long on a free throw, he wanted that one to go to the second row.
Deposits the second one.
score/time please
You don't have to double him when Lavoy is on him. What the fuck.
Man seems like every Pietrus three has went in this series.
ET shit smacked again..
Turner rejected by the rim, and it's right back up to 15. Fucking miserable.
Well, kudos for being fluffy like cotton to close at the half here. Just a quick lapse and boom there you go, down close to 20. ugh
long 2 and a Lavoy putback, that's our offense out of a TO
Meeks really spread the floor there.
Give the crowd something to make it feel worth it? I mean, I don't have much else to hold onto but sympathy for the ones that are fortunate to actually be there.
Does Et or Thad have any trade value?
Thad did during the season. Maybe still has some.
The guy has been a huge negative for 3 playoff series in a row.
I don't know if he has that, but I know he's overpaid. For the simple fact they self-bidded. Someone ought to want him.
Collins cannot design plays for shit same old predictable offense
fuck
Wow Jrue, just let Rondo go right by you, didn't know he was such a threat from 20 Holiday, what do ya say...no excuse for that
PHI 31, BOS 46 at the half.
Rondo goes right to the rim unmolested for a fitting end to the second quarter. Miserable.
This team is a terrible offensive team to start, but yet they still dribble the shot clock to last minute and put up a tough shot, u might as well shoot every open look you can get
First couple minutes will tell the story. Down below 10, maybe. Up to 20, no way.
Once again the supposed "leaders" of this team are predictably absent when this team needs direction. Nice series.
I know it's obvious but it is just fucked up to mention it - Our starting SF, SG, C, and PF were 2-22.
Stinkin' it up worse than last game, which should have been hardly possible considering how bad they were in that one.
Mark my words--we will win this game by 5 before the night is over
Marked
They go down 20 and I'm done watching
Not a good shot Jrue. turnover EB, typical of tonight
Heh, they let Rondo steal the tip from them. Great.
Jrue has to foul Bradley, maybe he didn't have to though...
wow dre, pitiful man
AI9 no finish.
Turner brick. Another foul on Jrue on the other end.
ET. doop-a-doop, rims out..
Spencer scoops being a 7 footer, yes he scooped, like he was Jack Sikma.
We can't score. Any free agents have offensive talent that we might be able to get?
EB steal, nope, Hawes ...KG tech uhoh
EB T too? what's Kennedy's agenda?
tech on eb
well, after replay EB did intentionally cheap shot him... he really did
yeah
Man, I wish those two would throw punches at each other. No Garnett for them in game 5, no Brand for us. Huge win.
That's a foul, I don't see how it was a tech.
Jrue outjumps spence for the board.
ET to the line, 4 on Bradley.
and he hit both!
4 on Jrue. 9 minutes of Lou to end this quarter (and the season, probably)
4 on Jrue? gulp
Heh. Hawes w/ the biggest sissy slop I've ever seen, but it drops.
Down to 11. Timeout Doc. This run needs to continue after the break, but I have a feeling Boston will attack Lou.
Woohoo, first FG from our starting front-court w/ 8 left in the 3rd.
Dre oop!! down to ll. yeah you all have seen this before, this is called the tease.
Did anyone else notice marreese speights sitting a few rows behind the Sixers bench? I swear I just saw him.
Drive by Lou, to ET for the finish. Come on.
Moving screen, 4 on Bass. They're going small, I guess, if Bradley can go. Nope, Hollins for Bass.
7
Turner in the paint. Down 7. STOPS.
ET gets the bounce!
I'm getting my hopes up again....
well shit, dre why the fancy shit instead of simple? damn
Stupid play iggy
Not the fucking time for a behind-the-back, god damnit.
Rondo to the bench w/ menstrual problems.
hahaha
And of course Hawes' J stunts the run. good offense, really good..,..
another wasted stop, damn it! Just make the basic pass Andre
Damnit.
And Garnett to the line to end the run. Loose ball foul. Celtics in the penalty will probably allow them to push this lead up again.
score plz
Lou bumped, we're shooting, not such a good thing tonight though. Make some dammit!
Stay Classy pierce!
splits, heh
Lou to the line? Both teams in the penalty. Let's go, keep fucking attacking.
Down to 7. Split the fucking pair.
Thank you, Brand. Fucking finally. STOPS!
Wow, Andre really got up for that board
Shit bum ass pierce
More T's? geez refs
ARGH. Pierce three. Don't let that be the end of the fucking run.
LOU43!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lou 3!!!
Lou 3 dont do this to me...
about fucking time Lou
Turnerover. Fuck me. Come on, 7-point game. Stay tough.
i see what you did there
ET, terrible. you love that damn baseline for some reason
Up to 9. Get a hoop here, do not let it get back up above 10. Good timeout, but fucking Meeks is checking in here.
just keep it under 10 & get some STOPS
I feel useless offering this encouragement commenting and all, cause this is probably one of the worst games I've seen them play all year, and they're only down 9... somebody said earlier - weird
they're still kind of in this
strangest game I've ever seen
AI943!!!!!!!!
AI943!!!
The tease really is the dumps as far as watching basketball.
Dre 3, see there....heh
lou!!!!
LOU!!!!
Lou+1. Hit the freebie.
They called AI9's shot a 2, going to review.
Lou off the contact! Drawers! Make this free throw huh?
That initial burst by the hated is rearing its' head...
4 on Rondo. You have to fucking finish this quarter strong, god damnit.
...and we've got 14+ min left...
dammit turnover Dre, he is having a shitty game.
Lavoy! Big fucking board.
God damnit, then Iguodala gives it right the fuck back. Clean that shit up.
Funny, Jodie and Lou backcourt didn't work out.
f me PP3
huge lou
And a Pierce three with Garnett mugging Iguodala.
Lou with another +1.
Good instincts by Lou there, they needed a quick hoop after the 3
Fucking Meeks. Lou can't hit a freebie. Jesus H. They're just begging to lose this game.
Yea
Lou can't make ANOTHER free throw, arrghhhh those tricky things tonight
JODIE MEEKS!!!! wooooooo
Turner brick.
down 5, lets go!!!
PHI 58, BOS 63 after 3.
How badly do you want it? How badly do you want this season to continue? Fucking do something about it.
ET doesn't extend his elbow, brick.
They are straight giving you this mf'ing game, whether you see it or not, they are. Go get the mf'er. please?
the Cs just look tired. Sixers have to win this.
I can't believe I just said that after the 1st quarter meltdown
Just started watching this game...astounded that Evan Turner took an early jump shot, after he has already missed 13 of 17.
we needed a hoop to close the quarter Evan - too much dribbling
Iguodala's long 2 was changed to a 3. Deficit is now 4 heading into the 4th.
Nice.
Jrue in to start the fourth, or does Doug stick with Lou/Meeks?
they gave andre a point, only 4
We're right where we want to be, just don't concede the 20 footers so easily to them.
Turner was blocked by about 6 hands on that drive.
Some random shot blocker just wet dreamed it...
THAD!
thad
Thad... don't even want to say your name son...
Get over the fucking hump.
THAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice pass lou
Thad! I WANT to say your name now.
ET blocked, what else is new?
Get Turner out
Turner rejected again. Fuck. Pietrus to the line. Collins is yanking him here, I think.
Evan, I like your aggressiveness but you can't go up in traffic like that and just hope something works out for you.
If Turner shoots again I will fucking scream. Stop fucking shooting!!!!!!
Come on Thad go off. Shock the world.
Why is ET still shooting? Been stuffed on half his attempts
If Doug was ever considered an ET hater, let the myth forever be dispelled after tonight, 33 damn min and 20 friggin' shots.
Andrew Toney does the 80's version of smdh
Gotta go with Lou & Thad here. Lavoy at the 5?
Isn't there anyone with a wide-open three when Turner is under the hoop w/ 3 celtics smothering him? You'd think there's got to be an opportunity for a kick, right?
Yes, you go back to Holiday. Jodie hasn't done jack shit.
UNTIL NOW! SIXERS LEAD!
This clucker is tied. I'd never believe it. Seriously.
What will occur from here? One can only admire, cause it's likely to be something you've rarely seen.
meeks!!!!!!!!
JODIE EFFING MEEKS!!
...on cue, Jodie hits a three, his first since training camp however short
Meeks steal for the second crucial time...
And Jodie breaks up a backdoor to Allen.
Ugh, Lavoy coughs it up. Wasn't ready for the pass.
TURNER SLAM OFF THE TURNOVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
get that shit outta here! LA
Man, Lavoy blocked that with some oomph.
Fuck me, where's the foul there? Oh, that's terrible.
Really gonna call that a foul?
Was that a cheap call for Pierce? or am I biased? don't think so, he was fortunate to get that whistle
Come the fuck on.
Lavoy, you're a man!
Thad, how could you miss that?
Rondo converts, f me
Thad fouled. come on
make both, Thad.
GET ET OUT NOW
gotta maintain. gotta believe. ain't easy being a sixers fan in boston...
7 min to glory? what do ya say...
Thad makes both, good sign, play that Goodie Mob next timeout.
KG walk... heh come on guys!
Walk on KG. Nice. Lavoy is in his fucking head.
nice pass thad
Great fucking look by Thad for the Lavoy deuce! Come on.
THAD!
how is that not a foul on pierce??
Thad should be at the line right now.
And Pierce gets fucking bailed out on the other end. Come on, refs.
Thad Young actually threw a sweet high-low pass to Lavoy.
shit KG.
we're in the penalty on them ugh
Atta boy, Thad. Keep attacking. Keep attacking. Keep attacking.
Pierce is scaring me now. Timely shots and has the refs
Thad, I still hate to say your name after earlier kid...
Let's go
Thad coming up big. Keep feeding him.
The fact they can actually win this game is stunning in and of itself. And they're tied....odd. Just so improbable the way this once looked; prisoner of the moment type-shit.
Lavoy is playing like a man even though his shot got blocked. Took KG off the board and got a layup for Thad.
And another stop. Rondo turnover
Thad and Lavoy are so active down in the paint. Boston's collapsing on the ball every time, and that quick pass gives them a wide-open layup if it's handled properly. Keep going at that. Meeks and Jrue need to be drifting for open looks from three.
Meeks with some solid defensive plays this game
c.o.m.e. t.h.e. f.u.c.k. on
Doris Burke is such a tool. Lousy, biased commentator.
Doris Burke is the female version of Charles Barkley. It's really starting to irritate me.
Louuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Shit, Lou. Can't lose him.
Dre w/ a not-so-good-shot. Got it back... LOuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
f me ray 3
Can we give Pierce an assist for that allen 3? beautiful moving screen!
CALL THE FUCKING FOUL!
Put some air in that fucking whistle!!!
We miss... come on
Shit, they're in the penalty too. God damnit. That's not smart, Thad.
Wow no call for philly but.kg to the line on that? Awful
Jrue with an unnecessary 3. man
Get a look......Lou doubled, Jrue patting pass out to Dre. BANG
AI943!!!!!!
Going after the mismatch here. They didn't go small to match Boston so Thad's getting mismatches.
AI943 off the Jrue drive and kick.
Draw up something smart, Doug.
You mean Lou iso? Done.
and another Rondo late-jumper ala game 1 shittttt
it'd be such a better weekend if the 6ers win this.
Yeah, Lou!
lou, somehow
Leanin' Lou
Shut the fuck up, Dorris.
Doris, shut the fuck up
THAD TO LAVOY! Sixers up 2 STOPS!
Thad(!) with his THIRD high-low pass to Lavoy!!
shit Rondo again... man come on
What makes rondo so hard to guard.
Big shot, AI9. Let's go, get a stop here.
One more hoop. COme on, get it.
THAD!!! BLOCK!!!
oh shhit we're up .. be smart. get a good look please.
Dre BANGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
AI943!!!!!!!!
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AI943!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FUCK YES ANDRE!
Iggy is the most clutch player ever. Fact
I said.....by 5
Yes you did.
MARKED!
When you said that dude, it gave me hope. I thought you were crazy, but it was nice to hear.
You always sell the Sixers short.
HOW FUCKING CLUTCH IS THAT ANDRE!
IGGGYYYY
Celtics moving picks getting more and more out-of-control. But can't hit the shots they create.
lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll yes
Don't fucking let up here. No threes. No quick twos. Play the same fucking hard nosed D you've been playing all quarter. DON'T LET UP!!!!!!!!
Hello Night Shift,
Glad to know you're still on the job.
P.S. Have you seen Elton lately?
With love,
My racing heart
Love it. COTG
OH YEAH MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!!
Strangest win I've ever had.
not over yet
thad potg for bringing the energy
Thad was awesome, but has to be Lou or Andre
That was incredible. To think we'd have a legitimate competition for POTG an hour ago would be laughable
Also don't forget Lavoy, KG was in check today. Huge difference from Hawes
KG sad-face brings me joy.
YES, YES, YES!
---^---^---^----^
That's a pulse, folks.
!!!!!!!!!!!!
PHI 92, BOS 83 FINAL.
Great fucking job. Now do it again. I'm going to need a pacemaker by the time the playoffs are over.
What a damn game. Really unbelieveable.
Best game thread of the year! GTOTY!
(can't wait to go back and read it because I couldn't half type, much less read you guys thoughts and feelings)
What a topsy-turvy, Jekyll/Hyde, Road Runner/Coyote game.
Note the mention of their initial burst haunting them :)
ENJOYED THE HECK OUT OF IT GUYS
What an unbelievable comeback. So happy to see the Sixers close out close game after close game in the playoffs. They've really grown up this postseason.
speechless
mannnnnnnnnn I'm just really happy
Andrew Toney nods in 80's-like approval. heh
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Great thread, beautiful game. Sweetest win I've had in 29 years.
I don't know about that, those Bucks and Raptors games in '01 were pretty sweet to me, at least at the time, and probably still now. Moreso than that one, until I think about who that "one" was just against. Tough call, '01 games were epics.
Tonight? Unbelievable progression infinity. Near not possible, but the feelings lurked amongst us all. And there it shown itself. Ta-da!
Yeah I remember. The Toronto series was ultra-close. But I'm a lot older than you guys. And I was at that game on 5/31/83. That was a big win.
I keep thinking how this series will either be like '82 or like '85, the highest high and the lowest low. Neither series was for the title, but they were against Boston, and I never felt better than after the 7th game in '82. Just like tonight, I was sure they were gonna lose. I said today that Wednesday's loss was just 1 game. You can't assume the next game is gonna be similar, but tonight it was exactly the same in the 1st quarter. I had no hope. Weirdest part was the score, 24 - 12. Felt like 50 - 12.
Interesting. We differ on one of our lowest of lows, the '84 loss to the stinkin' Nets was atrocious, at the time. Hurt even more than that subsequent '85 loss to the hated. But '82 was definitely sweet.
Remind me pleae of that 5/31 game....in '83. Amazing that you were even there, as I watched at home on TV as a kid. Just can't remember which one was on 'that' date?
I hated that Nets series. Shocked that they lost. Road team won every game. Moses wasn't right that year after getting hurt and Doc had a bad series.
Game 4 in LA. Lakers led at the half as they had every other game. Doc scores 7 straight, Moses dunks, then Cheeks gets the celebration dunk coming right at me. (I was about half-way up I guess.) Got tickets at face value an hour before the game in front of the Forum. Quite a thrill.
heres a link to the press conferences

Shout to my Philly fans the real Philly fans shout to Brian for the best Sixers blog on the internet.
Wasn't a turning point, but Jrue's fast break dunk gave me some hope for the 1st time
For me the mental turning point was Lavoys HUGE block. Who has made that play for us since Sammy?
Mutombo.
I'm going to savor this one before I do my wrap. Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable.
I can't believe what I just saw. The Sixers had no business winning game 6 agaisnt the Bulls... and this last game was such an epic colapse by Boston. Amazing is right.
And why did Collins stick with Thad after him sticking for weeks... and then Thad plays great.
And who is this Lavoy Allen guy- he's the best big on the team by a huge margin.
And of course clutch Iggy is the new normal.
speechless.
so frustrating early, always seemingly right there, but never in grasp, always eluding. then bam, they seized it, and what do you know?
so inordinary, extremely so
but ever so sweet, and just because of who it was against!
Woo hoo
where's dollar bill with something clever to say?
potg to the night shift as a whole? lou had 8 assists! stunning win.
It seems like every series Lou goes off and steals you one game (and hurts you in several others.) You have to begrudgingly give Lou lots of praise for his play in this one- and it will probably be lost in the recaps that focus on Iggy's huge jumpers.
Lou was +28 (!) for the game, and everyone in the building (including all the Celtics) thought he was shooting on the play he kicked out to Iguodala. I thought Lou played a great game. (Watching Iguodala's press conference -- he just credited Lou.)
Key stretch of the game was early in the 4th (first 5 minutes) when the lineup of Turner-Thad-Allen-Lou-Meeks outscored the Celtics by 4.
Great game, and who knows what's going to happen in the next one? The one similarity between Game 2 and Game 4: the Celtics blitzed the Sixers at the start (9-0 in Game 2, 14-0 in Game 4).
Thad was incredible. He just kept attacking and running. He was passing the ball like Larry Bird too. 12 points - 9 boards - 3 assists.
Sixers win the rebounding 52 - 38. Didn't see that coming.
Where are the pressers gonna be shown now that WNBA is on? Later? Anybody went to the podium yet on the link?
Lou with the +28
8 assists - might be a career high
andre making jumpers threes well done
31 points in the first half. 61 in the second. Good defense throughout - that is the constant that keeps them in the game when they can't score. It makes every game within reach even when it feels like it's not.
Lou has to be POTG. Kept them in there when nobody else scored, kept them poised. Didn't get too involved in the one on one too much, and had 8 assists.
But, man, those 3's from Iggy. DAMN!
The house was rockin'!!
So, uh, YES.
"My goal in life is to have one Lavoy Allen day, just one. Not give a shit about anything." - Doug Collins
Sixers frontcourt - 31 minutes combined 5 pts 5 rebs 2 turnovers 1 steal 0 blocks
Lavoy Allen - 33 minutes 8 pts 10 rebs 0 turnovers 2 steals 1 block
Game 4 vs Boston R2
who woulda' thunk it?

GLORY!!
let's not forget ET - he was aggressive to the hoop the whole game. gotta love that, even if he didn't finish a bunch.
seem like evan turner gets picked on a lot. wonder why.
Yeah, check out the recap. Turner's aggression was unproductive, but damned important, I thought.
