I had a chance to briefly speak to Jodie Meeks after last night's game. Here's what he had to say about the memory of their last loss and how they'll approach tonight's rematch (excuse my poor camera work):
If the team goes in with that mentality, the need to right a wrong, they'll be just fine tonight. Milwaukee lost by 10, in Indiana, last night and their playoff hopes have pretty much been extinguished.
The Sixers were able to limit the minutes of their core players in the romp over the Nets, Milwaukee didn't play their key guys crazy minutes, but Brandon Jennings did log 37. The key to this game is going to be offensive execution. The last time the teams met, the Sixers were sloppy with the ball on the perimeter and they failed to get into the lane. They let Milwaukee's pressure defense rob them of their aggression and it was a slow death once that battle was lost. Take care of the ball, drive to the hoop and run your offense.
On the defensive end, Milwaukee is very limited. Jrue needs to keep Jennings in front of him. The bigs need to keep Bogut off the offensive glass, and please don't foul Corey Maggette, when he's in the game. Milwaukee uses a small lineup to start the game, so I'd go to Brand for early offense. I'd also look to post Jrue on Jennings and Iguodala on either Delfino or Salmons, he can work on either of them on the blocks.
- PG: Jrue Holiday vs. Brandon Jennings
- SG: Jodie Meeks vs. John Salmons
- SF: Andre Iguodala vs. Carlos Delfino
- PF: Elton Brand vs. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
- C: Spencer Hawes vs. Andrew Bogut
The tip is at 8:30pm, Eastern. This is your game thread. I'll be right here throughout, join me if you're into watching playoff teams tune up for the second season.
