You can read it if you want, but here's a beauty from Jasner's latest work of amateur journalism at professional prices. Childress, 25, a 6-8 forward who came off the bench in 76 games last
season, is scheduled to meet with the Sixers later this week. Childress
is being considered for the Sixers' need at small forward.
Yes, that's right. The Sixers apparently have a need at small forward because having two starters at that position already isn't enough. Brilliant. His article is filled with more drivel, including a piece about the Sixers trying to clear more cap space. It may be true, but who would they use it on? An article from PhillyBurbs lists Channing Frye, Charlie Villaneuva and Chris Wilcox as possible trade targets. I want no part of Frye nor Villaneuva. Wilcox, it would depend on the price, I guess. Those are some exciting names, huh?

Ya, I don't know how they would be able to sign them both, but if they could it'd be perfect. Childress would be real efficient at SG.
Also, good point with the Andres handling the ball. It'd take a lot of pressue off Smith and just let him play defense and catch alley-oops from 'dre all day.
Me too, I had to read that section again to make sure that I didn't read it. What an idiot.
*wrong I guess I'm an idiot too.
Aaron McKie got caught with a gun too.
If Childress is starting or coming off the bench, he'd be a good fit. Your right about him being a smart. He's got championship player written all over him.
I like him, I just don't think he's the right guy to spend this money on. He's a good final piece to the puzzle, the Sixers aren't at that point yet, and if they sink a big chunk of cash into him, I don't see how they will get the big piece.
SML made a pretty nice article awhile back. Things may have changed, but I consult this.
Boozer is the best available. Already rumored to be going to Miami, though.
Yeah. It is a done deal if the Heat want him.
One thing really bothers me about this whole Brand thing. Everyone is saying the Clippers are a lock for the playoffs now, which I don't buy. But take a look at these two lineups:
Andre Miller
Andre Iguodala
Thad Young
Elton Brand
Samuel Dalembert
Baron Davis
Cuttino Mobley
Al Thornton
Elton Brand
Chris Kaman
Which one is better? They're pretty close, I guess, but I think the edge has to go to the Sixers. The Sixer bench is leaps and bounds ahead of the Clipper bench. I'd give the obvious nod to Cheeks over Dunleavy as a coach. Not to mention we're talking about playing in the East vs. the West. If Brand really does care about winning, he should take the Sixers offer and come to Philly.
I don't think those lineups are as close as you do. Baron is flashly and way more fun to watch than Miller, but Miller's just as good. Iguodala destroys Cat Mobley. Thad and Thornton are pretty close. Both do different things. Kaman and Dalembert are also a wash. So, if you include the bench and Mo Cheeks, not to mention the East v. West the tally is Sixers 4-0-3 Sixers and 0-4-3 Clippers. C'mon Brand! I know you and your Spike Lee impersonator buddy would love to make movies together, but if you really want to win, you'd come to Philly.
Just to fuel the fire. I'd still rather have J-Smoove.
Kaman and Dalembert is no wash, but I agree that, given the weak conference we're in, we'd get a higher seed and have at least the chance of making the Finals that they do. I think Brand wanted to stay in LA anyway though, he's in the movie business now. As long as they made some kind of big move he was going to stay.
Kaman really disappeared this as this season wore on. I'm not sure I'd put him far ahead of Sammy. They're on the same level at least.
You're right about the movie career. Here's a link.
Ya, if Kaman is any better than Dalembert it's not by much. Kaman put up some big numbers this year, but has been way inconsistant his whole carrer.
I wanted to believe Brand really cared about winning first and his outside movie interests second; but it's become painfully obvious the man values both equally high. He knows he doesn't want to leave LA so he rationalized another superstar aquisition as a step towards winning. In his mind he can have the best of both worlds.
Plus he probably thinks the team depth questions will sort themselves out. After the Garnett aquisition; many pundits predicted Boston's lack of bench to be their eventual downfall. We all know how that turned out. I guess Brand figures more players will climb on board for low salaries once they start building this thing. So for him he's made up his mind.
Writing that the Sixers have a need at SF is an amateur mistake. Thad isn't a 4 and Iguodala isn't a 2, not yet at least. Any casual fan knows they don't have a need at the 3, a beat writer should especially realize that.
Writing that Elton Brand is 32 is also an amateur mistake, he's 29.
Maybe he's just gotten sloppy, I don't know. I do know that I read pretty much all of the columns written about the Sixers and Jasner rarely writes a word that isn't jaded in some way, and he needs a better editor or he should do a little more homework before he puts this stuff out there.

I've never been a fan of Jasner's work and this cements it. I'm glad the Sixers are trying to clear space for Chris Wilcox and a starting small forward in Josh Childress. Seriously?
On another note the reports that Smith and Childress could both be Sixers really intrigues me. I hope it happens.
