A few things about Donyell Marshall:

* The Sixers other than Marshall are 4-for-29 from beyond the arc in the past two games, with Marshall 6-of-8.

* The Sixers outscored the Heat by 15 with Marshall on the court in the fourth quarter and the Lakers by 12 with Marshall out there in the final period.

* Marshall has scored 64 of his 68 points (94.1 percent) in the final period this season.

Wanna bet he's out there again in the fourth quarter tonight vs. Phoenix?

Can you think of any guy who's been a fourth-quarter specialist before? I mean, never sniffs the floor in the first three, but plays basically all of the fourth?

At 35, he may not be good for more than 10 minutes a game, so maybe this role is perfect. It's 10 straight minutes, but broken up with a ton of timeouts and stoppage for free throws.

Not a bad idea, actually. Have him park in the corner waiting for the kickout for 10 mins a game. He's proven he's a bona fide threat of late, it'll help the spacing a lot. Not sure if he's good for much more PT than that.

Depends on the need and the game - phoenix is a rather athletic up and down the court kind of team with porter gone - it might kill grandpa to try and stay up - this is the kind of game (I expect offensive fireworks) where Speights could really shine...

I don't think Marshall needs to always play in the 4th quarter per se. But Marshall does need to be inserted whenever it looks like the O has taken an extended break. Our shooters go into hibernation regularly, at all points during the game; when that happens, it's Marshall time, baby!

Donyell could easily become the new Robert Horry. I can see that happening if he keeps getting chances to play down the stretch this season, keeps making shots and the Sixers don't resign him next season.

He's going to become like the Jessie Orosco of the NBA.

Marshall is the zone buster. He also helps to create better shots for his teammates because opposing defenses have to honor him on the perimeter. Lou Williams had been the Sixers' fourth-quarter specialist, scoring 40-plus percent of his points in the final period, but Marshall is taking it to another level. Who knows how long it'll last? But I'd keep going to it as long as it does.
