As if it wasn't bad enough that the Sixers will be finishing their second back-to-back of the week tonight in San Antonio, the schedule makers also decided to make the Sixers play against a San Antonio team that hasn't played a game since Wednesday night.
Let's keep this short and sweet. Jrue needs to take advantage of Tony Parker. He needs to drive on him early to set the tone, he needs to use screens to get his jumper off and he needs to make San Antonio pay. That's the best matchup the Sixers will have.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to be enough. Tiago Splitter, DeJaun Blair, Antonio McDyess and Tim Duncan are all extremely good offensive rebounders. The Spurs don't lack for size or talent in their frontcourt. The Sixers are going to have a hard time preventing a repeat of last night's dreadful rebounding performance.
Keep an eye on the Spurs' three-point shooting for a strength-on-strength battle. The Sixers are allowing less than 30% on three-point attempts. The Spurs are shooting 42.5% as a team. Also keep an eye on Richard Jefferson in the corner. Greg Popovich has performed some kind of svengali act on Jefferson in his second year in San Antonio and he's born again in the Bruce Bowen role he's playing for them.
The tip is at 8:30pm, game thread will be up 90 minutes earlier.
