Should the team do whatever is necessary to trade Brand or Iguodala or both. How much would you be willing to part with or take back in order to get out form one or both of those contracts (as per my Nuclear Option post at Dereks' site.)

Discuss Brand's recent strong play. How much of a factor has:
-how he's being used
-1st vs 2nd team
-less minutes
-improved health/recover
-more time to develop chemistry with teammates
-the absence of Speights during his injury

Played a role.

Hi Brian,

Here are my suggestions for topics:

1) Analyze Elton Brand's performance in the Boston and Portland wins. How was he able to perform so well against these 2 teams and why is he not being utilized more.

2) Discuss why Eddie Jordan is given such a long leash when he's making poor coaching decisions and his team is 8-22. Why isn't he fired yet?

3) Discuss EJ's performance thus far as the coach of the Sixers. What were his best decisions and worst decisions as a coach of the Sixers this year.

4) Discuss reasons for the poor defensive flaws of the Sixers and how the coach is/isn't addressing them? What needs to change on defense for the Sixers to be successful and how these changes affect the current lineup.

5) What should be the optimal starting lineup for the Sixers to be a playoff team this year? The optimal lineup means...a lineup that has a good balance of offense and defense.

Iverson Iguodala Young Brand Dalembert would be my guess

Jrue - Iverson - Iguodala - Brand - Dalembert

Lou/Thad/Speights off of the bench, sprinkle in Kopono, Carney, Smith if needed.

Hmmm....weaker defensive back court and Iguodala playing what I think is out of position...

Not exactly, Iguodala is going to guard the same person, the oppositions best player, no matter what "position" he is in. To me swapping Thad for Jrue is better than a marginal defensive upgrade.

I have no idea why when talking about starting lineups Thad automatically gets the nod, when he only plays a complete ball game 10% of the time at best. He's played the better part of his starting career @ the 4 and if he gets 10 rebounds in a 35 min stretch it starts to snow. Marcus Camby has gotten almost half the rebounds of Thad's season in his last 4 games.

Also, from what I've seen so far, Jrue is our best defender we have on smaller guards and stopping penetration is priority #1 in a sane defensive scheme.

I would say Iverson off the bench, but it isn't in his contract xD, and I think in games played he's been a positive addition, although temporary.

I was trying to balance offense and defense per request - Iverson is a better offensive player than jrue - but i see your point about thad...

If we had a standard NBA offense, pick and rolls, back door cuts, screens everywhere etc etc, I think a scoring trio of Iverson, Iguodala, and Brand (all still 15 - 20 point gamers) would score plenty.

  • I would like to know where will this team be in five years? All of our young talent should be a seasoned team of vets at that point, as long as they don't get traded for a win now mentality that is.
  • What new pieces do we need to get to the next level in five years?

Based on how the sixers handled this past off season and fear of the luxury tax, how do you think they'll deal with the upcoming salary cap decrease which could be as low as 50 million dollars?

Which players in 2-3 years would be valuable on a good team. Who looks better on a bad team?

McGrady? Would we want to? If so, do we have what it takes?

Maybe take a look at Iverson's effect on other players and the team as a whole like you did last time and evaluate your opinions on individual guys after a few games.

What happened to the P.O. and what % of the offensive plays are it used in.

Thanks for the great questions guys. We're going to answer some in the show, so make sure you tune in. And call in if you have some more. The player is embedded above and the call in number is up there too.

I'd like to know the stats on how often the team is forced into bad jumpers late in the shot clock when the P.O is ran (aka. dribble hand-off extravaganza).

For those of us hoping for the top pick, how do you see the rest of the Nets' season going? Now that Devin and Yi (who's averaged 23 a game since his return and has 16 very early tonight in the 3rd quarter) are back, I can't imagine they'll continue to be anywhere near this bad.

I'm pretty sure Kiki's mission is to get the most ping pong balls.

Sooner or later we may share that mission; teams with the third worst record in the league usually give up on attempting to make the playoffs eventually. And from the perspective of player development, I don't think that Kiki can afford to start benching his good young players for long periods. Maybe he could try that with Harris but not the others.

Nets win!

Yeah and you notice he played his starters huge minutes and didn't play the terrible players on his bench at all, so for the moment at least he's letting the tanking take care of itself. And Yi with another 22.

Didn't check the box, just caught the tail end of the game. Good for him and good for them. .500 ball only gets them to what, 28 wins, though.
