It makes me sick to my stomach to say this, but I think we should probably be rooting for the Lakers to finish off the Suns tonight in Arizona. Not because Kobe's from the Philly area, not because I think the Lakers have a better shot of destroying the Celtics, simply because we need Doug Collins in Philadelphia, working with the current Sixers and working out Evan Turner, John Wall, Derrick Favors, DeMarcus Cousins and whoever else comes in for private workouts.
Tony DiLeo still has my trust, and as far as I'm concerned he's the most important guy in the gym when the Sixers bring guys in for private workouts, but Collins should absolutely be there. He knows what he needs for this team, he knows what qualities he's looking for in a cornerstone player. I know it's completely selfish, but still, I want the guy in the fold as soon as possible.
Doug Collins needs to be in Philly ASAP. That's a righteous position I feel comfortable taking. That's how I firmly believe every Sixers fan should feel about the matter. But to be honest, I just can't do it. I'm rooting for a game 7 in the Western Finals, and I'm rooting for the Suns to win it. Feel free to call me a bad fan for the rest of the holiday weekend, I just desperately want Kobe to go down in a ball of flames and I need a team in the finals to root for. If it's LAL vs. BOS no matter who wins I'll be disgusted. Let's go Los Suns.
