I begrudgingly read a story on ESPN.com about Billy King tonight, not because I care at all what this immense windbag has to say, but because I was hoping somewhere in the story the Associated Press would refer to him as the worst executive in the NBA. No such luck.
King spouted off about the Iverson deal using words like "due dilligence" and "dialogue." And said absolutely nothing. If I had my druthers I would hear Billy King's name exactly two more times in association with the Sixers, "King pulls off miracle deal, sending Iverson to (insert any team name but the Knicks) for draft picks and expiring contracts," and then "King unceremoniously canned by the Sixers."
I'd love it if they'd fire him now and let a competent replacement make the deal that will define the franchise for the next 10 years, but that won't happen. Too bad.
Marc Stein has a piece today about all the players who have been mentioned in deals for Iverson. Apparently, Korver is not available as a throw-in in any deal for Iverson. I would say that's good news, but not with the way Korver's been shooting recently. He needs a legitimate scorer on the floor with him to succeed.
The Sixers resume their quest for the top pick in the upcoming draft on Wednesday at home vs. the Indiana Pacers.
