Eddie Jordan Confidence Meter (1/2 Season)

Obviously Jordan needs to go, but answer me this:

Right now I have 2 simple goals for the Sixers:

1. Get a top 5 pick this year.
2. Try and trade Brand in the next 18 months.

Where do you place the odds of these coming to pass?

1) 40%
2) 15%

At this point i'd say 75% chance on the top 5 pick, 0% chance on Brand (sorry - he might be the most untradeable contract in the NBA right now)

Though I reserve the right to change my vote post Feb 19 :)

1) 50%
2) 10%

Keep in mind they are 2 wins out of the 8th pick. 5 wins out of the 15th pick... and have made a strong 2nd half pick each of the past 3 years. In fact they once went from #1 to #12 in 6 weeks.

5.5 games out of 8th
10 games out of 15th

But more importantly - look at the number of teams between the sixers and the 8 seed

http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_comparison/conferenceNew_Std_Cnf.html

4th Pick: 13W Sixers
8th Pick: 15W (Det/Sac)
10th pick: 17W (NY/Mil tied)
15th Pick: 18W (Chi)

Each of the last 3 years they took a win now mentality and made up a ton of ground in the 2nd half.

Sorry -- again i misread what you wrote - thought you meant 8th seed versus 15th seed :)

What a lousy hire............. Worst game management coach I've ever seen and he also did not prepare the team to start the season.

And there goes the poin misanelli won back

1. Let Iguodala walk

Why wont people acknowledge the fact that josh smith was a RFA? Atlanta was not going to let him walk

Stefanski said in the interview that Brand deserves to be in the starting lineup...If he doesn't agree with his hand picked coach about what to do with his prized free agent...why the fuck is Jordan still here? Nobody in this organization has a clue what direction they want to go in.

Eddie Jordan is a flat out idiot,I have zero confidence that he can tie his own shoes let alone coach an NBA team. Last night on Daily News Live,Jordan was interviewed by the panel, his response to the criticism about him was "Well all i can do is have faith in the principles and the system, and i think my record speaks for itself" Something along those lines...

His record? His record sucks, i can't even be sure if the guy realizes it, utterly clueless individual.

Well what Stefanski said is that he's played well enough to be reinserted in the starting line up - he did say that he'd been playing better in the past 15 or so games indicating that the benching was the right thing at the time but that brand is back to what he was before all his injuries and he feels he should be the starter again...it's a fine point but it's still a point.

His record does speak for itself - he's a terrible coach - he has a terrible record

The longer this goes on, it makes me think that the Ed's are a packaged deal. If one is gone, they're both gone. Rumors are growing about Iggy to DAL or HOU if Brand/Dalembert are included. I will have a renewed faith in Stefanski if he can pull of the Iggy+Brand without giving up any of our young pieces. If we move Iggy simply as a salary dump, I don't think I'll be able to watch this team again until this regime is gone...Snider included.

Well I see Iguodala as one of our young pieces and the rumored return is garbage, so i'll hate that trade

And I think you're rate, Jordan and Stefanski are a package deal right now.

If Stefanski dumps

1. best player to get rid of the bad contract he signed
2. 'his guy' he hired as coach after about half a season

I mean - in what universe do those two things happen and a GM gets to keep his job?

Was out of town yesterday and didn't get a chance to vote or comment. I have never called for any coach to lose his job before this coach. Eddie Jordan needs to be removed immediately. He should have been removed before Christmas. There is talent on this team - more this year than last year. I think Larry Brown could have won 50+ games with this team by preparing them properly for the season, by emphasizing defense first, by having the right players on the court for game situations abd to create favorable match-ups and to identify each player's role and use him in that role. Eddie Jordan has not done any of those things well.

I give him a 2 only because I have to think he can't possibly be as bad as he's looked.
My summation: a coaching atrocity.

Totally agree. There are 5 really good defenders on this team, one at each position: Iguodala, Dalembert, Brand, Holiday, Carney. (Ivey & Green aren't bad.) Brown would have given all of these guys except Iguodala more minutes than they're getting. Williams would be 8th or 9th man, logging DNPCDs every other game. Holiday would be the 3rd guard behind Iverson and Iguodala.

One more thing: Jordan must be the least competitive guy in the NBA. He seems to be perfectly content with the way his team is playing. Somebody has to tell him that the idea is to win. Brian, maybe you can be that guy; it sure as hell isn't Ed S.

In the long run Jordan is probably doing more good to this team than bad.

Think about next year

Dalembert - Speights
Brand - Smith
Young - Carney - Kapono
Igoudala - Williams - Green
Wall - Holliday - Ivey

and we will also have 23 million dollars in expiring contracts.

Except of course that the odds are very heavily against the sixers getting John Wall, even with the worst record in the league, there's a 75% chance they don't get him
