Evan Turner Live Chat @ 5:30pm

A little off-topic, but I found this to be a very interesting read on positions on the floor- http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1190

A lot of people including me get too interested in the stone-cold positions, 1-5. While I don't think this system is perfect, it does get you thinking about things such as versatility and what the Sixers can do. Here are my thoughts on what we can do according to this model-

Jrue- D1,D2. Creator/Handler
Turner- D1, D2, D3. Scorer and Creator/Handler (based on college skill-set).
Iguodala- D1, D2, D3. Creator/Handler.
Thad- D3, D4. Scorer.
Lou- D1. Scorer.
Hawes- D4, D5. Don't know what he does well yet.
Speights- D4, D5. Scorer.

Obviously the one thing that we lack is a rebounder and that's another way of why I don't know about Hawes. What can he do offensively? Right now he's not a rebounder.

I also think that there should be some way to differentiate between shooters and scorers, because scorers are creators of their shot. Meeks and maybe Thad would fit this role for the Sixers.

Also, just because you have a D-something next to your name, doesn't mean you do it well. That's why people are a little down on Thad- He doesn't defend either of his positions that well. Same with Speights or Willie.

The one thing that the guy makes a point about is that a creator and handler needs to be the same guy. I don't think it has to be that way. Iguodala does turn it over a good amount (His assist to turnover ratio is excellent for a shooting guard), but I think he could be a functioning creator if Jrue could be the handler. I do think they fit in both categories though.

Any way to replay the chat or get a summary or transcript?

Hmmn, I can't find a way. It was pretty mundane stuff. Sort of like this.
