Game 6 Thread: PHI vs. CLE

2 in a row? Fill the arena up tonight! Wish Iguodala would play with fire tonight like he did when cleveland had lebron. cause he would bring it in this type of game

I'm guessing about 5K fans in attendance tonight, and about 2K of them thought LeBron was still playing for Cleveland.

I wish people would stop making foolish comments like 'i wish iguodala would play with fire'

I'm not gonna be able to watch this one live. I'll be checking my phone and on here periodically.

We'll do our best to keep you updated.

Jamison is out, as expected.

Sixers go with same starting three (plus Hawes and Nocioni).

Alrighty, Doug is back on his meds and back on the bench. About to tip it off.

Win #2!!

They tried to go to Brand in the post right away, bad entry pass. Then Brand turns it over on the next possession. Not a good start.

I'll be watching. I'm more interested in the Chicago-Celtics game that starts at 8 tbh lol. Same with NOH vs Miami game.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 19:13

Not hot start tonight. TO by DC already. ugh

Do think he'll be more eloquent than, "Wake the F up!" in the huddle? That's what I'd be saying.

Ugh, quick 8-0 hole in the first 2+ minutes. Timeout Collins.

Tray reply to Brian on Nov 5 at 19:15

What are you rooting for this season, by the way? An encouraging 35 wins? Playoffs? The most balls in the lottery?

Good basketball and a ton of minutes for Jrue and Turner, preferably together.

Anyone else getting sick of these misunderstood basketball player ads? I mean, give me a break. Are we supposed to feel sorry for Dwight Howard, LeBron and Wade? They have such rough lives.

user-pic

Anyone watching the game online? Have a link?

Enough jumpers already.

Does Andy have improved range this season?

Quick hook for Hawes and Jrue. Lou and Thad in.

user-pic

Holiday just looked skittish again. NOt sure why he picked up his dribble on the semi-break a min ago.

Go to the friggin' hole, please.

Jumper, jumper, jumper, turnover, jumper, jumper.

Another timeout for Collins. 19-4, Cleveland.

Play by play: Brings Collins off the bench.

If only it got ET off the bench :(.

All bench now. Speights, Thad, Kapono, Williams, Turner.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 19:23

No staters in the game. Guess no one has any spunk tonight.

23-6.

I'm not sure if the defense or offense is worse at this point.

Lou with the & one, maybe that lights a little fire.

4 of the teams worst defenders on the floor:
Lou
Speights
That
Nocioni

Good o-board by Lou. Way to stick with it.

Thad cannot guard Hickson anywhere on the floor.

user-pic
Tray reply to Brian on Nov 5 at 19:28
+/-

Yeah, I think you underrate Hickson. He's quick and can face up a little.

He can score, not denying that. Just doesn't do anything else and he's turning the ball over too much.

Good or bad, he's being defended by Thad, who if you call him a 'league average' defender, you're giving him a compliment

What game started out like this recently? Was it WASH or ATL last Fri?

Wasn't Wash, they were up big early there, right? Then Lou went 0/7 in the second quarter and the lead vanished. Must've been ATL.

user-pic
eddies' heady's reply to Brian on Nov 5 at 19:30

Yeah, or it may have been at IND last Sat night. Somebody got out to a big 1st quarter lead and we had to climb uphill the whole way.

So Clev killed the Sixers in the Preseason too. I think it has to do with high energy bigs against Sixer sloths.

2 on Turner.

user-pic

Haircut :)

Sweet give and go, LW to EB to LW for the dunk.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 19:33

There you go EB. Grind it out.

OK, they're scoring now, just need to mix in a couple stops.

Collins is going to have vertigo again at half time.

Lets go loss number 5!

20-34 after 1. Honestly, they're lucky they aren't down 20. Let's hope the starters received the message from the early benching.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 19:35

Terrible 1st. Just no cohesiveness from any combos on a night to night basis yet. Poor old Doug. Hope he doesn't spazz out tonight.

user-pic

What is up with Iguodala

user-pic
Tray reply to johnrosz on Nov 5 at 19:39
+/-

I think he (a) is not happy with management throwing away Dalembert for a scrub they touted as talented, and (b) just might be displeased that we drafted a guy who plays the same position as him, esp. when we could have selected Sam's replacement.

I don't want to see anoth 20 foot jumper the rest of the night.

How many 2nd chance pts so far?

Alright, opened the second going to EB and he gets to the line.

6 o-boards for CLE in the first quarter.

AI9 & 1. Come on, gotta play both ends.

Uh oh Jrue's limping

Seems fine to me.

Atta boy, Jrue!

The EB pick set in the back court sprung that play. Never seen that before.

lol creative foul imo.

I say this again, Thad is useless defensively. Him and Lou on the floor at once is as if we're playing 3 on 5 on defense.

Sad news is Hawes is less of an option as at least Thad gives us a semblance of offense.

No long jumpers yet this half. Now start defending and you have winning BB.

Hawes back in the game. Not promising.

9 minutes in the bonus, how many times will they get to the line the rest of this quarter?

Zum just said that DC has played all 12 players now. Can we please let Meeks take off the suit he's wearing?

There we go. AI9 in the post.

All we need is something positive to say about the defensive end.

That was bullshit. That's an offensive foul or no whistle.

Since no one commented on it, I absolutely loved the play with Varejao playing on Jrue and Jrue dribbled in on Varejao then dished to Nocioni for the 3. Something he needs to do more imo.

Yeah, that was a pretty little play.

And AI9 in the post again. Jrue starting things w/ his D. Come on, let's go.

Cut the deficit to 12, timeout Cleveland.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 19:52

OK Dre! One with the left, one with the right. Keep doint THAT right there. Just utilize the dribble to create your space. Well done.

Andre playing tenacious D now.

A 22-footer for Moon as the shot clock expires, that's good defense.

Jrue is feeling good now. Let's keep the pressure up on the defensive end. Don't let them get into the paint.

Iguodala to the rim again, fouled this time.

user-pic

Good look Dre.

Wow, pretty drive by Turner.

Need to make it happen w/ the perimeter D.

Good sub...Lou probably hits this at the buzzer

Or not...Don't know why he didn't get the shot, he seems to always come through at end of quarters.

Iguodala got right to the rim, can't really argue with that call.

YES.

I love this pressure on the perimeter.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 20:09

Whew, for the last 3 min they held them to 2 pts. They had 59 @2:58 mark.

They had 50 at the 8:00 mark.

Man. I think Iguodala could've dunked that with his left.

Anyway, great finish to the half. Down by 8 after that start is much, much more than we could've hoped for.

53-61 after two.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 20:12
+/-

When they execute ball pressure, it's relentless, but just not consistent. Every possesion is how it should be - it's such a factor. Ball handling can be a difficult chore for some. Passing too.

They don't have enough quality defenders for it to be consistent. The majority of the bench is terrible defensively aside from Turner.

56.4% from the floor and down by 8. That doesn't happen too often.

7 offensive boards for CLE, 10 defensive rebounds for the Sixers. Not good.

Cavs
50 pts 1st 16 min.
11 pts last 8 min.

Guess who went out of the game at the 8-minute mark.

user-pic

Iguodala (right Achilles tendon strain) will not return in second half.

Let's just hope it stays as a strain.

Free throws...come on.

user-pic

Wow! JRUE!!!

Just want to say that the NBA.com web site SUCKS. It's way too busy, way too much auto play crap and the drop downs don't work.

Such a horrible horrible piece of crap

most sports web sites completely suck - too noisy like you said

I was looking for something specific, and harest to find on the nba web site. I was finally introduced to regular expressions last night which opens up a new world of potential analysis, but most sites play by play info lacks distance info in shots, i finally found it on espn which i assumed would be the worst :)

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Nov 5 at 20:51

Nice! Them boys is a playing ain't they? Listen to the Wells...

Just a dominant, dominant third quarter for the Sixers. 84-79 after three.

Jrue needs to be on the floor the rest of the way.

A dominant 3rd quarter
And hawes was benched to start the third
I'm sure there's no connection as much as the other player swap

Tony Battie: Serviceable basketball player???

Battie owned the glass in the third.

You said 'if he played like this every night'

Hawes
Speights
Battie

he's my starter every night anyway - he plays some defense

Please keep the ball out of Lou's hands early in the shot clock. He just dribbles the air out of it. Let Jrue run the offense, let Lou work off the ball until the clock is down to like 10, then iso him.

Damnit. Lou and Thad out there is not a good way to hold a lead.

Timeout, Collins. This is ugly. Don't let them cough up the lead.

Collins needs to learn that Lou cant run the point...ever.

I hate Jeff Van Gundy

Slight non-sequitur.

Not if you're watching celtics bulls on ESPN - it was timed perfectly when he was defending Kevin Garnet and calling out Charlie Villanueva :)

very surprising - Van Gundy's such an ass. Ooooh, he tweeted instead of getting in KG's face - Thanks for the ethics lesson, Jeff.

user-pic
Tray reply to Charlie H on Nov 5 at 21:16
+/-

You know, what Garnett did was wrong but what kind of response is it to tell the world what he said?

The only way to MAKE it an issue that people talk about is to do what Villanueva did, to make it public. What Garnett did crossed a line, but he's been doing it for YEARS, he is a punk ass bitch and finally he called him out on it. The fact that he went after a guy who is an international 'face' of a poorly known conditioin (alopecia) and mocked it by calling him a cancer patient is not a surprise me me. KG has always been a punk ass bitch, but no one knew how bad and it was just 'competetive juices', but i'm sure it's not the first or last time he crossed the line but maybe, just maybe he will realize there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, and maybe he'll be less of a bitch,

No Jrue or Iguodala in the game is ugly. Wish Turner was ready to step up there.

If they stay with the same lineup I say they post Turner on Sessions.

Cant understand why Lou is the point ANYTIME!!!

user-pic
Rich reply to Tray on Nov 5 at 21:36

My conclusion is that was the worst crunch time defense I have seen in a long time. Against a terrible team nonetheless with no real isolation threats. Not talking about the whole game. I think it would have helped to have our best defender out there.

Well if I need my Enrique Iglesias fix, I know where to go. Wells Fargo Center.

Battie isn't quick enough to show on those screens, he doesn't even slow williams down.

I'd say Jrue's legs are a bit tired at this point. Maybe Lou will foul out. I just want to see him on the bench at some point before the game ends.

Perry Jones.

Those 4 phantom fouls (jump ball reversed, Gibson 3, Williams falling out of bounds and Williams baseline J) did not decide it... but it pissed me off.

Fitting way to end it with Varejao

Lou gets some cheap buckets to pad the stats at the end and is still -16 for the game

Jrue fouled out. Thanks for just standing there, Kapono.

Trade Lou. He's offensively gifted, but not someone that should be a part of the Sixers any longer.

I'd rather not score and play better defense than have him out there at any time.

Down 19 early I was pretty optimistic and to see them get up by 7 was a great feeling. Just a great 2nd and 3rd quarter effort. I expect a pretty good effort Sunday. Lets see if they can rebound.

116-123 is your final. My wrap will be up later tonight. thanks for hanging in there, guys. We saw some awesome basketball in the middle of this game, it's a shame we also had to watch the beginning and the end. You know who your player of the game is.

Not to pissed about the game. We saw this team come back from a big deficit. Played well without Andre for a qtr. They could have mailed it in like the pacers the other day, but did not.

Rebounds: Varejao 12, Sixers' starters 10

If the Sixers fall to the Knicks, they could very quickly be staring at a 1-9 start. And that's after playing the Pacers, Pacers, Wizards and Cleveland- who are about as bad as any teams they will face.

Hopefully they jump up and surprise some teams (or maybe not- but you hate to think that way this early.)

1-9 start sounds fine to me. The only good thing about this season so far has been our young talent. Why wouldn't we want more ping pong balls to accumulate more young talent? Hopefully this time we can get a good big.

Yeah, I think the sixers are screwed this year based on the strength of our. We will be in a huge hole by the time it's January first (25+losses in 33 games) we'll be too demoralized to dig out of that hole when schedule becomes a bit softer. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up in the bottom 5 teams this year because of our schedule.

Iguodala (strained right Achilles) and Nocioni (sprained left ankle) have MRIs scheduled for Saturday.

Believe Cavs scored on their final 14 possessions.

DC has to do a better job of recognizing when Lou has hit his scoring droughts. He's giving you nothing at all when he's not filling it up. Tonight in crunch time was about the 3rd or 4th time this year that he's killed them defensively and with turnovers (First quarter against Wall comes to mind...)

I think Turner should have been in for Lou several minutes earlier, that late run may have been avoidable....

Oh well...
