Game 22 Thread: PHI vs. BOS

Are you sure Jrue is emotionally ready to handle Nate ;)

That's a valid point

Freaking final tonight - ah well

As long as it isn't Duhon and Nate. Those guys were a fierce defensive twosome.

tk76 reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 19:40

We have to hope they protect Turner's fragile psyche from those guys just like EFJ protected his prize rookie PG.

Tom Moore on Dec 9 at 19:27

Video: Collins pregame Thursday on facing the Celtics, being on national TV:

I don't know about anyone else, but I really have grown to hate KJ and his act since he joined the Celtics. I enjoyed his game more when he was an intense player on a loser in Minny.

Ray Ray I respect as much even now he's on the C's.

Tray reply to tk76 on Dec 9 at 19:50

Yeah, I think all NBA fans feel the same way, myself included. I guess it's not even that I'm so tired of him in Boston, just that his decade of losing in Minnesota was much more poignant. Now the intensity just seems a little phony and pointless.

tk76 reply to Tray on Dec 9 at 19:52

Everyone loves a winner. Except in KG's case, when they loved him more as a loser...

Anticipation. Feels as if its a playoff game for me for some reason. Barometer game for sure. Have they just been playing well against weak teams, or are they actually getting better? Something about the last few games has me expecting wins again. Usually when that happens, I get brought back to reality pretty fast. I hope the team is as hyped as I am, and at the least keep it respectable.

Feeling the same way. I guess there's a good chance this game is their playoffs this season. Wonder if Collins is using the stage to pump them up right now.

Tom Moore on Dec 9 at 19:59

Doc Rivers pregame on if the Celtics are more popular because of their personalities (namely, Shaq, who won't play) or the anti-Heat sentiment:

"I think it’s the latter. I don’t think anyone likes us any more — I think they just hate someone else more. We thank you for that, league."

Shaq is out, huh? So who starts at the five, Davis?

Erden starting at the five. I'll update the lineups in the post above.

btw, how anxious am I to get this game started? I just sat through Bones for like a half hour.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:03

Bring. It. tonight! Please let the fans do the same.....please

I really hope the sixers have the lead at the half, just so I can listen to Charles talk about how Boston is playing turrible for 20 minutes and give no credit to the Sixers.

Soon no one will have to worry about Turner anymore. He's gonna turn into a fireball after hearing how many people been saying he shouldn't have been a top pick. That's right, a fireball! I'm so confident right now, after reading Brian's preview I know we're gonna get this one for sure. :)

Who thinks the TNT guys even mention the Sixers during the pregame analysis? Probably not. You would think Charles would throw us a bone.

Have they even shown a Sixers player yet? They showed Collins a couple times. Charles just said Collins was going to be back in the booth soon. That's as close as they've come to analyzing the Sixers. Charles hates Philly.

T McL reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 20:11

I laughed at loud at that comment... Don't want to say Barkley hates Philly, he is that much of a to every team, unless they are top 5 in the league.

Tray reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 20:13

Perhaps if Turner were doing anything they'd feel obliged to talk about that. I assume at some point in the broadcast there will be a little Iguodala trade talk, and some talk about what a pretty decent point guard Holiday is. Beyond that, what is there to say, that Thad is reestablishing himself as a legitimate bench contributor? Or that Brand's contract looks slightly less dumb than it did a year ago?

They could've mentioned that Iguodala has completely stoned every wing scorer he's gone up against this season. Or the fact that the Sixers have won 4/5 and it should be 5/5. Or the Sixers 5 game winning streak. Or even the backhanded compliment that they're only 1 game out of a playoff spot and a possible first round matchup with these Boston Celtics.

Or they could've just talked about how much Turner has struggled. That would've been something.

That would have cut in to the Dwight Howard talk. I swear he's the main topic every week.

Good call! They show a quick shot of the coaches or players just before breaks - enough time for Charles to take a cheap shot at Doug (used to work at TBS, will be back soon), then at KG ("ugly").

Oh, Ernie did just say who the opposition for the Celtics is tonight.

OMG, Barkley thinks Shaq is an allstar!!!

One thing I'm watching in particular tonight is whether or not Jrue can keep Rondo out of the lane. I've been surprised by Jrue's defense this year. He definitely hasn't improved so far.

Good call.

Spit it out, Reggie.

Here we go.

Hawes emphatically wins the tip.

That's two points for us with a legit center, and two less points for them.

Good penetration by AI9.

And another drive, which the cameras missed.

Jrue off the pick. Nice.

Nice pass. (clap, clap) Nice pass. (clap, clap)

I didn't see a foul there.

No layups D.

I'd prefer if it wasn't Jrue giving the foul, though.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:24

Good kickout Dre.

Shit, Jrue had the layup there and tried to dump it off.

AI9 to JODIE on the break!!!!!

eddies' heady's reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 20:24

Agree. He crossed him over something pretty and should have taken it all the way.

If at first you don't succeed...

Love that. Jrue gets the C on him, right to the cup. No hesitation.

Hawes has to shoot that.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:29

Hawes with the spin move and the lefty finish.

What a break off the make. Hawes hits the sissy hook.

Sick follow dunk by Iguodala. Love how they're pushing the ball.

wow, i kind of like the "flight 9" name. not sure why. probably just cause i heard it after a great dunk.

Jason reply to Scott on Dec 9 at 20:31

Agreed, it's catchy.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:31

Before that Dre putback-slam, EB should have just went straight up with it initially. Fakes weren't necessary there.

We really need that to do a lot for us to have a chance in this one... I feel like Battie is bound to get some time as well

T McL reply to T McL on Dec 9 at 20:32

*Thad not that

T McL reply to T McL on Dec 9 at 21:09

god i hate nate

im liking collins's game plan so far. looks like they are playing fast and taking almost everything to the rim. after seeing meeks hit a three ball, though, i would like them to try and get him an open look again. hopefully that'll happen soon.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:34

There you go, Thad. That is there all night against Baby, take him to the rack.

Sick drive by Thad off the faked pass.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:36

Reg Miller: Hawes can't fade away against Glen Davis.

Took the words out of my mouth.

Jrue and Iguodala can drive the lane whenever they want.

Hawes just scored for Boston.

Sweet pass from Jrue to Hawes. Wish he could finish those.

Hawes should never be leading this team in attempted field goals.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:38

Rondo's been getting to the rim a little to easily. Have to do something to stop that somehow.

Good job forcing him baseline that time.

Thad w/ the drive.

What a fucking pass by Jrue. Great break.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:41

Damn Jrue, sweet bounce pass on the break for a Thad slam.

BS call. God damnit.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:42

Post Jrue up Doug, with Nate on him.

Man, if Hawes gives that ball to Meeks off the o-board it's three points.

Hawes w/ another o-board and the putback. Wow.

woah who is this Spencer Hawes guy and when did he learn to rebound??

Sixers up by 3 after the first, 32-29.

Scoring 32 on Boston in one quarter is a mammoth effort. Love the way they're attacking. 36 more minutes like that.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:44

Not a bad quarter, considering, but not good enough either. Have to shore up the defense, they're getting too much in the paint.

Let's just hope the Lou show doesn't stagnate things. It's not at ATL, but it is national TV, you know.

Only way we win this game is if we start playing better defense. We aren't going to score over 30 in each quarter.

Yup. Keep running them out the gym, though. That's the key in my book.

hawes would have a couple more buckets if he werent soft and tentative

still though, KG can take any of our bigs. We shouldn't double him though, we should take away pierce and allen.

Spencer Hawes is playing as if this season was a contract year...

heh. :)

Alvin reply to jakey on Dec 9 at 20:50

Erm it is.

I wish it were over now. Two sick dunks and a three point win...

They have Nate on Jrue. Need to go at that.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:48

Uh-oh, Thad overhelping for a Wafer 3.

Boston's really small here.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:49

COme on! the baseline was ready to signal blocking foul but he acquiesced to the other ref. BS!

Davis picks up two fouls in succession. Should be three.

I'm really starting to hate Baby. I'm kinda shocked he was called for 2 fouls. Might be his first 2 of the year.

There's his third, should be his fourth. Sixers are in the bonus.

Alvin reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 20:53

Wow that's fast. Attack! And make them damn free throws, great chance to build a lead before the half.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:51

Boy, Jrue has the laser on those bounce passes tonight so far. Another one to Thad on the baseline.

Rondo shooting a 3 is what you want happening on defense.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:52

Jodie can't stay in front of Rondo, hell Jrue hardly can.

eddies' heady's reply to eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 20:53

EB should have showed on the screen though.

That wasn't his fault on the replay, but you're right. He can't.

Don't like Meeks on Rondo at all.

Dre and Jrue off the floor, let's see how they cope.

Could Reggie Miller say any more bullshit?

Alvin reply to Jason on Dec 9 at 20:56

Loved Reggie the player, not so much the analyst.

I like how Davis has 3 fouls, Garnett and Erden 2 each. if Garnett gets into foul trouble that'll be big.

Interesting lineup. Meeks at the two, Turner at the three, but Turner sort of running the point, initiating the offense.

Lou for three!

What a pass by Lou to Thad for the SLAM!!!!!!!

...why do i feel like the guys in "Major League" who say/think "Hey, maybe this team ain't so fuckin' bad!"?

This second unit is playing some nice defense. Really nice.

Alvin reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 21:06

Quite amazing considering Lou and Thad were on the floor. At least there's some balance with Turner and Brand in there. Earlier in the season when Doug would put 3 or 4 below average defenders on the court, the whole team would capitulate.

If the team can defend the paint and rebound the basketball, this team can compete with anyone.

Alvin reply to Shawn on Dec 9 at 21:03

That's what I give the thumbs up to Collins for - this team has just about competed with everyone. It's the same roster as last season (probably worse) but the team looks so much better on the court.

Sixers have been in the bonus for 3:30 and haven't gone to the line a single time.

Don't like Jodie on the drive there.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:05

Dammit Lou. And he gets it back and sinks the 3!

Jrue has been out a while now.

Here comes jrue.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:07

Doug has to post Jrue up when Nate is on him. Come on.

Lou feels like Jodie Meeks tonight. Good news: He's making 3s. Bad news: He's turning the ball over.

Shit. Let Jrue run the offense now, Lou.

Lou totally messed up that screen/roll.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:09

SHit! Nate w/ another three. Freak..........

Fuck me. Robinson and Lou basically canceling each other out.

Bad Lou for the past couple of minutes, though.

Now Lou wants to have a duel with Nate....

and Rondo makes a long two

Get Lou out of there now. Either put Hawes back in, or go EB TY AI JM JH for the final two minutes.

Lou with the heat check.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:11

Dag, they're hitting everything by everyone. They can't keep shooting damn near 60% can they?

Yea it's not like it's bad defense. This better not be one of those days when the opponents just shoot the lights out. They are 60% from the field and 5-7 from 3-point.

Why has thad disappeared?

Michael T on Dec 9 at 21:11

Good timeout by Collins. They can't let this lead get too big.

Finish this half strong. Boston is going to try to send a message here. Don't settle for jumpers. Drive to the hoop, get to the line, and keep making them take long twos on the other end.

eddies' heady's reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 21:15

Ha, sound just like Doug in the huddle.

There you go, Jrue.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:13

Dre dinged his hip

Stop and a hoop. Finish strong.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:15

Good call ref, Pierce pushing off.

two for one now.

Sick defense by AI9.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:16

Come on, get to the dang line Dre.

Don't give the foul, you're getting the ball back.

Fuck, why do teams do that? And why have Jrue give his second god damned foul?

Jodie on Rondo again...

Alvin reply to Charlie H on Dec 9 at 21:19

Well that's our best option other than Jrue. we can't possibly try Iggy on Rondo. It may work, but who's gonna be on Pierce then?

OK, down by one after the first half. Could be better, could be worse.

Sixers 55, Celtics 56.

Alvin reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 21:23

Could be better cause should've taken advantage of the foul situation to put up points at the line. And of course Boston are making way too many shots.

And frankly, if I thought before the game that Boston would shoot 58% in the first half, I thought we'd be down 18 points or something. The fact that the team is still in it says a lot. Hope they can keep it up, if Boston starts missing then the Sixers can steal a W.

It's because of their rebounding.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:21

F me. Play our asses off and they're shooting in the damn ocean. Typical Sixers fan life, still losing by one.

They are doing a swell job of leaking out on the break too. Way too many fast break opportunities for them.

This is winnable. Got to attack the mismatches when they go to their bench though. Jrue needs to chill with jacking the threes, even though majority have been open. Needs to go to the hole and draw defenders or contact.

Charles says Thad is our best player!

general tso reply to Scott on Dec 9 at 21:28

I agree with Charles! Trade Turner and Iguodala now! Package Turner and Brand for some young talent/expiring.

but in his typical confusing fashion. thad is best, because ig is as good as he ever will be?

nice. Chuckie always has to pull his punches cuz he's one of the boys. Didn't want to seem like he was taking a shot at Dre.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:26

Dre or Jodie are going to have to score more in this half than the first to have a chance.

Two key stretches coming up, beginning of the third and final two minutes of the third. Boston is going to try to assert themselves right out of the break, then put the Sixers away heading into the fourth. Don't get flustered. Keep being the aggressor.

Scott reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 21:34

i agree completely. we could easily get blown out of the game at the start of the 3rd if the celtics come out as the aggressor and we dont. gotta take care of the ball and play solid defense.

id still like to see meeks get some open looks from 3.

Yeah, Flight 9 has to go in for a few more landings.

Beginning of the 3rd is always big (esp. with this team)

Alvin reply to Charlie H on Dec 9 at 21:39

Does it have anything to go with going to Hawes right away every time in the 3rd?

Good D by AI9 to start the third.

Three on Garnett.

Alvin reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 21:39

Really like that, so early in the 3rd. Now keep attacking the basket.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:39

Wake the F up! Let's go, no easy dunks.

OK, tie ball game. Let's go. Another stop.

That's fucking terrible defense by Hawes. Why leave his man there?

"Erden gets a bucket to go." Nice, Reggie. What a pro.

Looks like Doc is going right at Meeks.

Alvin reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 21:43

Yes, that's the best matchup for them to attack. Iggy has given Pierce absolutely nothing so far.

(Did you like that long 2 by AI9, Brian?)

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:42

Keep doing that Jrue. Attack every single time.

That was probably nice inbounds play that we missed. Thanks, TNT.

JRUE & 1!

Keep attacking.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:43

Oh crap, Jrue with 3 fouls

Meeks passed up a three there. Come on. And please stop driving.

Shit, that's three on Jrue. That stupid foul they gave at the end of the first looms large if he gets another.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:43

SOn of a bi.............Jrue that was dumb as hell

I cannot begin to tell you pissed off I am right now. Motherfucker.

WTF Jrue with four. Why do I feel like Lou will F up the offense?

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:45

Don't screw it up Lou, please.

lou on rondo es not good

Rondo is going to eat Lou alive.

ItAintEZ on Dec 9 at 21:46

that foul at the end of the half might come back to fuck us

Patrick on Dec 9 at 21:46

What is Reggie talking about. Since when does a SG have to be effective off the ball to be an effective SG. Wade is terrible off the ball and Kobe isn't great off the ball and the two of them have carved themselves nice careers in the NBA.

Reggie only thinks of himself

The two he just picked up were stupid, but he's on the bench right now because of that dumbass move by Collins to have him give the foul. Just ridiculous.

As Charlie H said, the Sixers' offensive rebounding is keeping them in this one. Boston still making everything.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:47

There we go, Jodie.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:48

Jo-3! AGAIN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Let's friggin' go!!!!

Heinsohn just said, "Alley oop there that went out of the building."

Sweet pass, Jesus.

They are one foul from the penalty. Attack the basket! Except you Meeks.

4 3 * 2

You guys still think the jodie meeks trade last year was a bad one?

Jesus, Brand has 6 o-boards.

3 point contest anyone????

Alvin reply to Chuck on Dec 9 at 21:56

They got Ray Allen on their team, I wouldn't fancy our chances.

We so need Thad to inject some offense into our game.

Brand is really being a leader tonight, hustelling play after play

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:52

Good, Doug took the ball out of Lou's hands that possession and put it in Dre's.

Great, great defense by EB and AI9. Just completely shut that play down.

Spencer and Lou, bringing things back to Earth...

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:53

I will be damn. Screwed up that break.

6 pt lead and we go to Hawes twice?

Back-to-back plays for Hawes, followed by the ugliest fast break I've ever seen. Damnit.

Hawes really filled the lane on that break, huh?

Must have a hoop this time down the floor.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:55

Timeout doug. BS possession there w/ Dre dribbling the air out of the ball.

Should've gone into him when he left his feet, Iguodala.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:56

Lou for THREE!

If the Sixers win this, I predict the franchise setting back 20-5 run in 25 games that stop us from trading Iggy and make the team think the team can do anything in the playoffs.

Mike P reply to Mike P on Dec 9 at 21:58

Not that I won't get drunk on the kool aid too though.

"We gotta resign Hawes! THAD TOO! Our teams core is so young and good!" - Me after said streak.

Just enjoy the ride, that's all any of us can do.

Come on! Lets have some peace enjoying a nice game!

Mike P reply to Juan on Dec 9 at 22:06

It's so funny because my fan brain is conflicted so bad. Meeks fits in so well because he can shoot.

Jodiac Killer making the team actually work. Is he the MVP right now lol?

How many threes in transition for the Sixers tonight?

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:57

GOod friggin' play Lou, drawing the cheapy on Rondo.

And Lou gets the foul on the three from Rondo!

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 21:59

COme on guys, please close out this quarter the same way you've played up to this point.

Dre making Pierce look ordinary all night. Keep it up. Smother his ass.

Just close the quarter strong. No turnovers and make your freebies please.

what he said.

This is insane stuff. Jrue getting 4 fouls and us somehow stretching the lead slightly, even though they are making shot after shot.

Now we really need this one, and we're close. Come on fellas.

Love the transition 3

Ugh. They're free.

Really like Iguodala running the point.

rare turnover for Thad.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:03

and Erden goes to the line and makes two off an over the back on Spence. Turning point?

Did you see Collins yelling at Lou to give the ball to Iguodala?

saw that

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:04

Baby walked on that play with the spin I think.

Ugh. get a hoop here, please.

There is no way Hawes should have 11 field goal attempts, more than anyone else on this team.

what the fuck

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:05

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It just isn't our night......Rondo with a damn banked-in three. sigh

The Celtics always get all the lucky stuff.

Fuck me. Bank shot three by Rondo to end the quarter in a tie.

Sixers 80, Celtics 81.

They started strong, but let Boston come right back in the last two minutes.

We need Jrue to assert himself in this fourth quarter.

ItAintEZ on Dec 9 at 22:06

get thad the ball at the ft line when he has that fat pos on him.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:06

8 pt lead evaporates to a Celt 1 pt lead. Mutha..................

general tso reply to eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:07

You have no life. Go find some friends.

Okay, 9-0 run for Boston to end the quarter.

The good news: We're still only down 1 at the end of the 3rd.

7-0 run after Nocioni entered the game there.

Please don't wait, Doug. Get Jrue in there to start the fourth, and sit Nocioni right next to Kapono on the bench for the rest of the night.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:09

Lou jumper off a curl - miss. Spencer 16 footer - miss. Dre rims out a three - miss.

Were they not in the penalty there? Thought we would shoot freebies after Erden pushed Hawes on their end.

Ugh, Nocioni misses the three to start the fourth. So glad he's in there.

Ugh. Nocioni.

Nice, Thad.

There we go Thad. Can we keep giving him the damn ball?

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:12

Laser again from Jrue to Thad.

Trading hoops.

Sick pass by Jrue.

Like this lineup for a while, but how off is Turner to have an errant Nocioni in...

This is Collins thinking veteraness is better in the fourth. Battie may wind up in if they get down by about 5.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:12

Thad blows the bunny. sheesh

Needs to learn how to deal with people set to take a charge.

Big Baby is having a big game?

ItAintEZ on Dec 9 at 22:14

that lineup blows. put the starters minus hawes in to finish the game.

Thad and Davis effectively cancelling each other out. Ugh.

Some good d there

Meeks for Lou. Yessss

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:17

Good touch pass by Dre to thad

Brand doesn't like Glen Davis. Hah.

great interior passing! didn't think that pass was there for Dre

Wow, great passing for the hoop after EB embarrassed big flabby.

Meeks needs to take that three.

Garnett back in.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:19

Terrible possession on that Jrue airball.

Evan Turner looks bored as shit lol

Ugh. KG back in.

Big Flabby - love it

Celtics tightening on D. Try to run and go early when you can't.

Garnett you're a bitch.

johnrosz on Dec 9 at 22:20

Evan in his own world right now

yeah, he's like a fawn looking around

Brand's rebounding and 3 blocked shots has made such a difference. 4 on KG.

Brand is playing defense about as well as you can play it

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:21

They're waiting entirely too long to get into offensive flow.

Sweet shot by AI9. Can't wait that long, though.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:24

ANd a damn Jrue turnover on a high ball screen.

Ugh. They are really clamping down.

Gut-check time.

ItAintEZ on Dec 9 at 22:25

funny how we screen once and if its not there give it to dre one on one. run a fucking play.

Need a god damned stop here. If not, we need a timeout.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:27

There was still one sec on that shot clock before that ball went out of bounds off Rondo. No review.

Get a stop please, Meeks with the 2.

Okay we need this one.

Thad's our go-to guy, at least these past 3 games.

Alright. That's it, push the ball. Keep on pushing it.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:28

Didn't Jodie get fouled on that play?

Lot of 4 & 5 point swings in this game, in the Celtics favor. Can't finish plays.

I am way too excited for my own good. Come onnn!!!

8 seconds on the shot clock. They have no idea what they want to do in the half court. Run a pick and roll w/ Jrue and EB, isolate Thad. You've got legitimate options. Just friggin pick one before there's five seconds left on the shot clock. Don't get flustered.

Alvin reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 22:31

I vote for Thad.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:29

They're going to go to KG posted and run a two man game w/ him and Ray Allen w/ Jodie on him?

Jrue has been dreadful in the second half. 4/12 on the game, now.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:30

Jo-3! Let's go.

that was a sweet 3

& a turnover

and he was fucking fouled on the follow-through.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:31

Stop please!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES! Sick play, Jrue.

Come on. Let's do it. Come, the fuck on.

No threes. Make them earn it.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:33

How the fuck is Ray just camping out that damn wide oopen?

damn a bunch of celtics fans there

How do you lose track of him? How?

Alright, regroup immediately. It's a one-point game.

Alvin reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 22:35

i don't know. We all know how dangerous Ray Allen is, but he always ALWAYS finds a way to get open when it matters.

Fuck. Ray Allen is crapping on us.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:35

Was Reggie right in saying Jodie over-rotated or should Thad have rotated out there?

Come on, get a hoop right now.

Wow. Huge shot by AI9 after they just stand around for 20 seconds.

Just get a basket. I don't care how.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:36

Hold up! WHy is Doug taking the ball out of Jrue's hands here and putting it in Dre's. He made the jumper, but still. Jrue was standing down in Turner's corner.

Man. You all know how this is shaping up. Hoop here, Boston has the ball for the win as the clock expires. Fuck it. Need the hoop first before we worry about that.

Oh dear God, please don't let them go with the Iggy iso and let him shoot a fadeaway. I will freaking lose it. And so will the Sixers.

At least attack the rim.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:39

This Dre one-on-one isn't good. Run something with Jrue on a pick and roll?

OK, you've got the ball now for the win. Do you take it all the way down and win or lose on the make or miss?

It's like we're snakebit

Thank God for Elton.

Come on. Come the fuck on. Let's get this, right now. Flip the fucking script.

Fierce Andre!

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:40

Well, it was GOOD that time Dre! Yes!

Just don't let Thad overhelp off Ray Allen, no flashbacks. They're probably going to go to Ray if Jodie is on him?

Oh my God this is too exciting. Please attack the rim. If it's a jumper it better be a good one.

To the hoop strong, AND THE FINISH!!!!!

6.6 seconds to glory. COME THE FUCK ON!

ItAintEZ on Dec 9 at 22:41

paleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese get a stop. ONE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do we get Turner in there for Meeks? Should we?

They're going Pierce iso, and running Allen off a bunch of screens for the jumper at the buzzer.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:41

ONE STOP GUYS! Shake that monkey.

C'mon, win it for Phil

I think Thorn just said, "FUCK YOU GUYS" to some celtics fans.

Damn this feels familiar.. Boston.. last shot. Ugh.

fuck me

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:43

HAHA Rod Thorn in the box dropping a F-bomb

f me f me f me

Why was Lou Williams in on that play?

For defense, obviously.

Hey, there's Kapono in a suit.

Alvin reply to Mike on Dec 9 at 22:45

Yeah WHY THE FUCK do we put Lou Will in when we need a freakign stop? Why? It makes no bloody sense? We could have put Battie or Turner or even Nocioni damn it.

Jason reply to Alvin on Dec 9 at 22:46

Because of Nate robinson's speed i believe.

This should be a fun SixersBeat.

Celtics 102, Sixers 101.

Jason reply to Brian on Dec 9 at 22:45

When is the next sixersbeat?

ItAintEZ on Dec 9 at 22:44

Why oh Why do I even bother getting excited.

So, um yeah ... we could use a big man.

SixersBeat in 15 minutes, guys. Call in to commiserate or whatever.

So this makes how many heart breakers we already lost this season? 5?

Probably just four. Washington x2, Atlanta and Boston.

eddies' heady's on Dec 9 at 22:47

That damn banked-in Rondo three......ugh

And that crappy finish to the 3rd quarter letting them go on a 9-0 run.

Or sure would have liked to have gotten a call on that Jodie three where he got fouled and knocked down on the follow through.

Oh well, they should pick their heads up, there were a lot of positives to glean from tonight.

Just no go-to guy like Doug has been saying.

Iguodala did hit three huge iso shots in the final 5:30, and two in the final 40 seconds. They just didn't have the ball last. This wasn't about not having a go-to guy.

May be, but it was about confidence, because if you attack the rim with 7 secs left you know is no the game ball... They had the last shot and chose to play another possesion.

Alvin reply to Juan on Dec 10 at 0:47

I would have gone for the quick hoop too, if the opportunity presents itself. Then trust your defense to make one stop.

However if you wanna put Lou Williams out there to defend the last play, I would rather the Sixers held on for the last shot, really. Even if it were one of those ugly Iggy 19-foot fadeaways.

I admit I did nothing else but smile when Iggy made that last hoop, but they were out of timeouts and only 1 point ahead after that. My point is that Philly chose to give the last shot to Boston. And Doc Rivers play surprised everyone, I think.
Really good game anyway, goog efford!

Gotta say, great damn play... suckered 76ers to go small and get KG on an easy layup... damn damn damn... 76ers effort was great though, Meeks play is making a HUGE difference with this team

Alvin reply to RockP on Dec 9 at 22:51

We shouldn't have gone THAT small. Should have left Elton in to stay with KG.

Oh God, so close, so close. Lou in for Elton must be the worst defensive sub in this situation I have ever seen.

Sorry Doug.

TruePhan on Dec 9 at 22:49

They might not have Perkins or Shaq playing but we played the real Celtics. This isn't a game where we shot ourselves in the foot and should've won it easily. Yes, we made some mistakes but the fact is that they had to make a lot of tough shots in order to win, and though they shot well over 50%, they only won by one and only at the very last second. I'm proud of the Sixers, though of course I would've liked to win this one and they had opportunities to. The point is that the Sixers didn't back down and fought to the very last second. That's something they didn't do last year or even earlier this season, play 4 quarters of solid basketball.

it feels like this happens every time we play the Celts.
another buttress to the conviction that fundamental team play and execution prevails in the end.
what a loss.

Alvin reply to jkay on Dec 9 at 22:52

Yeah I still remember when Thad lost Ray Allen for the game-winning three one or two seasons back. Grrr.

Rich reply to Alvin on Dec 10 at 2:53

Jodie lost him tonight. His heart was in the right place, trying to help, but as soon as he cut off Rondo, he HAS to get back to Allen. Even more so, he probably shouldn't have left Allen at all. We'll live with a Rondo floater. To leave Ray as open as humanly possible at the end of the game like that, brutal.

This is to take nothing away from the rest of Jodie's game where he did a really nice job.

Brutal way to lose. God damn did anyone hate the way they played at the end of the third with like 4 Hawes jumpers? I wish it was a Pierce fadeaway, that was way too easy. Jodie effed up leaving Allen open, he was awesome though.

johnrosz reply to Rich on Dec 9 at 22:59

Thad had the mismatch yet he was the only guy that didn't even touch the ball in that last few minutes. It was ugly

johnrosz on Dec 9 at 22:52

at least turner got some valuable minutes

Derek and I are live right now talking about the game.
