Game 63 Thread: PHI @ IND

Anyone see that the Nets are going back to 7:30pm start times next season?

Can we please follow the Nets lead? I get that we only end up with 13,000 fans or so, but to have honestly 100 bodies in the stands at game time is humiliating for the players and the team. Sure some people will then show up at 8 (the always late crowd) but there are definitely people who work till 6:30 or 7 and can't make it to the game on time.

7pm start time is one of the last vestiges of the Pat Croce era. Dump it.

Old School Sixer Fan reply to stoned81 on Mar 8 at 17:48

I really like getting home ata reasonable hour after a weekday game. Maybe 7:30 is OK on Friday orSaturday, but not duringthe week.

and there's the valid counter-argument.

Who uses the 7:30 start time now? NYK, does BOS? On the west coast, I think the Warriors do.

Most of the big city teams start at 7:30pm. BOS, NYK, LAL, LAC, GSW, MIA. 7pm game times should be reserved for second-rate cities and flyover country. CHI, DC, PHL are the only three big coastal cities (CHI being de facto coastal) that start at 7pm from what I can see via a quick schedule perusal.

7:30 on weekends would be a compromise, better than what we have now at least. Although come on, a 7:30 game would end at 10. That's late? Philly isn't Iowa.

True philly isn't iowa

but kids have school

and a game ENDING at 10 doesn't get people home at 10.

There don't seem to be that many kids at weeknight games anyways. If ending at 10 and traveling home is too late to get your kid into bed, ending at 9:30 is probably too late too.

The weeknight crowd is mostly office-workers. 7:30pm start time helps them out. And I'll admit I don't have kids, but to me the embarrassment of having 100 fans in the stands at game time outweighs the benefit of kids getting an extra half-hour of sleep.

Does the difference between 7 and 7:30 help people who get out of work at 5 really?

I would say it makes a big difference because most people I know work till 6:30 or 7 these days.

7:30 would help me out, greatly. Heck, I might even be able to make it down to Philly for a few weekday games w/ the later start time.

Interesting as I just asked the question yesterday. Yes please go to 7:30 starts for all games so that I catch all the second half :)

Put me in the 7:30 camp as well.. though I think the true best responders are the moms/girlfriends...the true decision makers

I'd love to see a wrestling match between Marakovits and Indy's sideline reporter.

Alrighty, here we go. Usual starting lineup, Collins is pumped up on the bench. Let's go.

And Hawes loses the tip to McRoberts. Ugh.

Sissy 10-footer on the first possession. But they retain possession. Not for long.

They've gone to Hawes on each of the first two possessions.

Then had a dunk taken away with a call on the break. Come on, don't start slow, please.

Iguodala makes the top 5 for DPOY in the ESPN awards watch. Finally.

It's about time.

He is also the only wing in the top 5.

lol @ them mentioning his triple doubles and not his defensive performances.

I know, the defense was an afterthought :)

Heh, Hawes hits an 18-footer w/ a hand in his face.

Two swishes so far. He read your post. He's mad. He's showin ya the goods!

AI9 for three.

JRUE! Sick drive, lefty finish then the steal on the inbound.

Wow. Sick dunk by Iguodala off the drive. Nice start.

I love the bench's reaction. I don't think there's another team in the league that has the enthusiasm on the bench that the Sixers have. Awesome group of guys.

Did someone make a bet with Snow that he couldn't say Iggy 30 times in the first quarter.. he is well on his way

Bang, corner three for Meeks.

Rush has two corner twos w/ a foot on the line. That's a fine if I'm coaching.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:21

Jrue's carving them up off that high pick and roll so far. Although if you notice Hawes never gets hit on a roll, if he even does roll.

Block of the night

Someone please cut a video of Jrue blocking McRoberts shot.

If only Iggy hadn't blown the dunk, that whole sequence would've been all over SportsCenter

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:23

Wow, not only does Jrue block McRoberts shot, but he literally timed it perfectly. heh

and he grabbed the ball after... no one does that

Blocked it, caught it, and should've had the assist on the other end for the lob.

Look at Meeks pushing the ball!

That would have been at top 10 play if Andre didn't blow the dunk.

Sissy air ball.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:25

Dag, Jodie looked extra quick on that push and layup.

Seriously, where did that come from? Or was it just fast by comparison because he was running against McRoberts?

eddies' heady's reply to Brian on Mar 8 at 19:31

Naw, he was pushing the hell out of that one. He just looked like he was shot out of a cannon once he got the ball.

Speights is first off the bench. Nice.

Why do I have a feeling that Speights keeps this up he's starting by the end of the month

Great stuff so far. Hopefully they can keep it up. The defense has been very good.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:26

Jrue fighting his tail off over Hibbert's multiple screens.

Jrue w/ the shot!

I think Jrue got whistled for "not even trying to play defense" on that 3-point play.

Jrue is really on tonight. This is a thing of beauty.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:30

What a start. How about let's have a not-normal bench coming in and not having to get out of a hole but keep the heat on like the starters came out and did.

Shit, Speights. Either challenge it or get out of the way. You can't do both or it's a three-point play.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:33

Man, I wish Thad could knock down that mid-range J teams are giving him, playing off for his lefty-drive.

JTI getting a run in the first Q, I think. Did Lou come in too?

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:34

Dre 3! Big shot to stunt their 10-2 run.

Great job finding Thad w/ Collison on him in the post.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:35

Jrue with a good body lean-in on McRoberts for the layup.

Off Iguodala drive and kick. Pretty.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:35

Hell of a quarter, whew, some of it was a whirlwind.

PHI 34, IND 23 after one.

They let up for a brief stretch, then put their foot on the gas again. Let's see another 36 minutes like this, huh?

This is the same team that had to come back in the first against Minnesota and Golden State?

Great first quarter. Best start in a while. Just don't fuck it up.

The beginning of the second is going to tell the story. Lou needs to keep the offense moving and not get torched on the defensive end.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:40

Evan w/ a nice J, off the dribble.

Good start to the Q. Turner looking confident. Speights actually settled himself after a couple bad drives and hit a mid-range J.

I'm glad to see that Collins didn't 'short leash' Speights after his wibbly wobbly start

Man Indiana's defense is horrible. How can that team make the playoffs ugh...

Hawes back in, doing his thing (3-point play for Hansbrough).

Turner running the point there, Lou gets a catch and shoot and hits it.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:44

How about those shoes Lou has on?

Was Meeks on the floor? Yeah. Why the hell did Lou shoot that tech?

Did you see Collins yelling?

Why didn't Meeks shoot the T?

Collins was yelling at Jodie and Lou.

God damnit, Hawes.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:45

Turner just abused Dahntay on that penetration.

and zero :)

Meeks was wide open the entire time Hawes had the ball.

Spencer Flaws on Mar 8 at 19:47

Evan with 7. *Fun rhyme*
and Hawes w/ the 1st and-1 of his career

They've gone really small here w/ Granger at the four. I think they want to get Iguodala off Granger. Thad is guarding him right now.

Or they're attacking thad.

Please put Jrue back in the game

Get Jrue back in, please.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:49

Aw, come on, did Thad even foul him?

Lou just sucks the life outa this team....put Jrue back in please.

Spencer Flaws on Mar 8 at 19:50

Get lou outta there

Doug - Jrue can play 36+ mpg - you don't have to measure his minutes - and lou sucks

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:50

With the D Pacers are playing we gonna put up 120 tonight.

Fuck, Lou. Get him out of there.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:51

Lou w/ 3 fouls, won't see him til the 4th maybe.

3rd foul on lou - now you have to take him out doug

LOU SUCKS. I'm actually happy he has to sit with 3 fouls.

Haha..that was a great sequence of Lou hate right there...enjoyed that.

Jrue w/ a man's rebound...and then a turnover.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:54

That was fucking flagrant on Dahntay foul on Evan! He slammed him

That was a flagrant. Good, they called it.

Stephenson what a shithead

And I'm talking about how he "blocked" the shot after it had already been banked

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:56

What a pass! Dre! ha

Iggy needs some rebounds.

How many times has a player had 3 triple doubles in a row?

Bob Sura had 3 a couple of years ago.. tried to go for 4 but cheated for the last rebound so NBA discounted it... or was he just going for 3?

Longest continuous streak of triple-doubles: Wilt Chamberlain holds the record for the most consecutive triple-doubles. In 1968, from March 8 to March 20, he recorded a triple-double in nine straight games.[20] The second longest streak is held by Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan, both of whom recorded a triple-double in seven consecutive games.[25][26] Robertson's streak occurred in the 1961–62 season,[25] while Jordan's streak went from March 25 to April 6 of 1989

This was the best I could find...

Thad w/ the stand-still lob dunk. Nice.

TS reply to Brian on Mar 8 at 19:57

He was all alone for like a while too. Thought Dre was gonna miss him.

Andre on the triple double hunt yet again

Iguodala stuffs granger on the lob. Nice.

And another turnover by Jrue. Come on, clean it up.

Hilarious how we completely dominated Indiana, then Lou comes in a the lead goes poof, then Lou goes to the bench and we again completely dominate Indiana.

Lou is Doug's favorite play again, how?

Lou is Doug's favorite play again, how?

I don't believe he is any more

He's giving him quicker hooks than he had in the past, and less end-of-quarter shots. I hope this means you are correct and Lou is fading from the rotation!

Doug just recently admitted that Thad was his favorite.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 19:58

Man, good show by EB on that pick and roll, then good rotation over by Thad for the steal.

Thad with no rebounds - how does that keep happening?

Has turner been in all quarter? was he subbed in at end of first?

CB reply to Jason on Mar 8 at 20:00

Yes, subbed in near end of first.

I think so, but I'm not tracking rotations tonight so not exactly sure.

Let ELton sit with the two fouls, bring speights back in

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:00

Have you noticed how easy we are able to get into the paint all night tonight. We've penetrated at will, even without picks being set.

Speights in for Brand. Did Brand just give that foul to get the subs in?

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:02

Not a good shot, Jrue.

Come on, don't slip at the end of the half.

Spencer Flaws on Mar 8 at 20:03

can i get a link from someone. i finally have time to watch the game

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:04

It's a must we stay up by 10+ at the half w/ the way we've played

Bad pass by Jrue. Three turns this quarter.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:04

Jrue's just forcing passes that have no room to get through. ugh

Jrue has forced a couple now... pull the Nash/Rondo and dribble back out to the perimeter

eddies' heady's reply to T McL on Mar 8 at 20:07

Good insight. He really doesn't do that now that you say it.

Damnit, Jrue was so on early. Crisp passes all over the place, step quicker than everyone. Since he came back in, he's been completely off.

Damn Jrue...great in the 1st and terrible in the 2nd.

Iggy's D is slipping at the end of this quarter.

Big three for Lou.

PHI 65, IND 53 at the half.

Pretty similar to the first quarter, strong start, then a dip, then a strong finish.

Hansbrough had 12? What? I guess I just ignore it when people I hate do well

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:09

As near-dominating as that half seemed to be, I'm still in the camp that this one could go either way. Doesn't seem as if they should be within 12. Our D hasn't been anything to sniff at either, I guess.

D was good in the first, really bad in the second.

Iguodala needs 8 boards and 4 assists (or 9 blocks) to keep the triple-double streak alive.

TS reply to Brian on Mar 8 at 20:13

Crossing my fingers for 9 blocks. That would be awesome. :)

Everybody on the team on the good side of +/- at the half.

Lakers over the Hawks at the half.

Boo hoo, Hibbert. Toughen up. You just got fouled by the softest man in the league.

EB is off tonight. He's usually money on those short j's.

2nd game in a row. Wonder if the finger is an issue.

4 turns for jrue.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:26

Really good look from Dre to EB there for early offense.

Ugh. What was the point of that foul, Hawes?

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:29

Dag, thought Dre should have kept attacking there and made Collison have to choose him or Meeks. Tough pass to get through on the bounce.

Granger completely flustered.

Keep driving, Jrue.

AI9 to Jrue on the lob!

Gotta be the first time I've seen Jrue catch an oop

There you go Jrue. He just likes odd-numbered quarters.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:32

Dre oop to Jrue! Jrue-oop, yeah "droop". haha

Rollin'! Let's start the playoffs now, so we don't peak to early!!

Dre knows he needs some more steals to get that DPOY...

Paul George always pokes at the ball... I haven't really looked at his on the ball D but I think he can be good

Iguodala is a man.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:35

Doug is the damn MAN!

Andre is just playing so inspired!

Is this Iggy's Best stretch as a player?

Lakers up 20 on the Hawks right now.

Look at Thad on the floor!

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:43

EB and Young on the floor? and up 17? Love that shit...

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:44

Sandy Weil smiles as Lou gets another catch-and-shoot :)

And frowns after that contested three.

Lou works so much better as a spot up shooter. I cringe every time he controls the ball.

Turner and Jones are going at it. This could wind up in a punch or two being thrown.

FU Dahntay.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:46

Damn, lol, Evan kicked Jones in the sack and Jones gets the foul call.

PHI 84, IND 70 after three.

Shitty end to what was a great quarter. Defense was much better throughout, though.

Evan looked shocked that Lou passed the ball to him there.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 20:49

Dahntay has always been a hothead and sort of dirty player, since at Duke. And probably at Rutgers too.

Way to quiet that crowd Jrue

Think Jrue got mugged on that drive.

Not again.

Iguodala in for Turner? Would've rather he got Lou.

Can someone put a body on Tyler?

Pretty, pretty break off the Iguodala steal. Defense to offense, baby.

Team goes to shit when Lou's on the floor

I'm starting to notice a trend.

Jesus. That was awful.

Stephenson's a complete fucking idiot, huh?

Bout time they called a foul on Stephenson. He's mugging everyone.

Starters (plus Thad) restore order.

Holiday looking like Goerge Gervin

Come on Comcast, I wanted to see that Jrue steal.

Turtle Bay on Mar 8 at 21:02

Thad all over the floor. Sixers with too much energy and athleticism for the Pacers.

EB w/ a couple big hoops here.

Thad w/ the one-handed board while being dragged to the floor by Jones.

That was offensive.

A little Mark Jackson from Jrue.

Alright, settle down and get a hoop here. That'll seal it.

Would be nice if we could get bucket. It's getting uneasy.

MichaelT on Mar 8 at 21:10

Turner looks awful in the 2nd half

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 21:10

Come on, finish this thing! It ain't over yet..

Please don't put Lou in....

Need to hold on in order to add Granger to the list...

Small lineup FAIL as usual.

Why isn't that a tech on Hansbrough?

I'd like to see some semblance of a play run here.

Push off by price

This is getting shitty....our guys are getting tight.

Game, set, match. Iguodala drive and kick to Jodie for the dagger three.

TS reply to Brian on Mar 8 at 21:16

Meeks is a clutch mofo lately.

Frank Vogel is a skinny Jon Lovitz.

Heh. They tried to get the ball to Granger there, Iguodala was in his jock.

7 guys in double figures again tonight.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 21:18

Meeks the new closer? lol

Free throws, 3's....

Come the fuck on. That's going to make Granger's line look better. He's still on the list.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 21:19

Andre and Jrue having a minor squabble. Dre was telling him not to foul there I guess. Cause he was jump-shooting.

Man that foul sucks

Jrue has effed up the last 3 defensive possessions.

Tough call for POTG, solid double-double for Iguodala, plus sick defense. I think I'm going with Thad, though. 9/13 from the floor, 18 points, 9 boards off the bench.

eddies' heady's reply to Brian on Mar 8 at 21:27

agree, he was all over the place tonight. hustle and energy and effort out the ying-yang

tk76 reply to Brian on Mar 8 at 21:31

Getting to the point that you expect that type of energy and production out of Young.

Double-digit road win, I'll take it any day of the week.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 21:25

Inconsistent, but good statement win.

I really think we can catch the Hawks. Let's see Andre add Durant to the list tomorrow night. Jrue is going to have his hands full though with Westbrook.

PHI 110, IND 100 fin.

Good road win, 6 game lead on Indy, 0.5 back of NYK, 3.5 back of ATL!

tk76 reply to Brian on Mar 8 at 21:32

Looking at the standings there are a few permutations where the Sixers draw Orlando FWIW.

If we can get the 5th seed I predict a Sixers victory.

I'd love to play a team with Gilbert Arenas in the playoffs.

tk76 reply to stoned81 on Mar 8 at 22:04

Orlando could also catch MIA. The magic only trail MIA by 3 games.

eddies' heady's on Mar 8 at 21:32

Over half of our FG's were assisted. That's pretty darn good.

Wow, check out the box score. Everyone who set foot on the floor for the Sixers tonight had between 8-13 shots.

How many game are we behind the Heat now? ;)

It's a lot tougher for me to hate Portland now that they have Miller and Gerald Wallace.

Having Wallace and Roy off the bench seems like a tough out for someone in round 1.

Tom Moore on Mar 8 at 22:17

Indiana can't keep pace with the Sixers:

Mgfields on Mar 8 at 23:20

With his 10 points tonight, Turner scored in double figures three games in a row for the first time. Double figures 6 out of the last 8 got ET.

Mgfields reply to Mgfields on Mar 8 at 23:21

Should read "for ET".
