Sixers

, all the time

seems we're back to being depressed fan.
appropriately.

May be third of a back to back to back for the Spurs, but only a back to back for Parker...if Duncan rests the spurs still have big men who can hurt the sixers cause, well, league average big men can hurt the sixers cause the closes to league average they have is Elton Brand.

I not longer am confident this team can beat a team with good record.

No Neal or Splitter, either.

boris diaw would start for duncan then, which means he will probably put up a triple double

LOL, back to being Depressed Fans. (and rightly so...)
All the more reason a no Duncan win will still mean heaps.

Rested legs should give the Sixers the win against a depleted Spurs team on a back to back to back. If they cant win this game, I fear for Doug Collins health.

If they do win I am sure you will make some sort of excuse...even with their best player not playing

Maybe Tom is a closet Knicks fan ?

@preston76 #Sixers Andre Iguodala is a late scratch (left knee patellar tendonitis) tonight vs. Spurs. Jodie Meeks will start in his place.

figures

well this sure would be a great game for ET to be the best player on the floor...and Sam Young, let's see what you got!

Well, he'll have to be better than Jrue (which he usually isn't) to be the best sixer on the floor, let alone the best player on the floor

I hope this Iguodala injury is not serious or lingering.
With Meeks starting, I will keep my remote close to hand.

I hope not either, but tendinitis never sounds good to me.

Props to Pop by the way for smartly resting players when he doesn't have to due to their age and the compressed season.

Wonder what kind of foul call disparity there will be in this one, since only one of the Spurs' big names is starting...

Is Manu playing? He's a pretty big name even if he does come off the bench?

is that joey crawford i see?

The Spurs just kill us with pick and rolls. It isn't just Parker, but it's everyone. I'd prefer a strong trap, because this laying ten feet off won't cut it.

good pass thad

Lucky to be down 7 with how easy they are executing. Need somebody that plays the 5 to sack up. That very well may have to be Thad.

will need pixie dust to pull out this one.
Sixers D without Iguodala looks so loose.

ok. scratch that. Spurs sans Parker have no point play. looks even now. wonder what will happen when the starters come back.

Good block S Young. Keep battling here, at least it finally looks interesting.

Sam Young playing the AI9 role might be fun to watch here

I just don't see how they can't get layups when Voose, Hawes or EB is defending the screener.

Thad has to do better than that shot on the fast break.

Who's fault was that? Evan or EB's?

That's the next step for Turner if he wants to play with any kind of consistency. He's gotta kick the ball out for threes when people collapse on him. Just because you beat the first man doesn't mean it has to be a shot. Making the easy play.

Because Spencer makes me laugh too damn hard... like on that last play of the quarter where he flailed demostratively to 'attempt' to grab a board. Not grabbed, but attempted. LOL

And yet he was shoved by stephen jackson

Really, what I don't understand is how Hawes played during the beginning of the year. I understand he couldn't miss and whatnot, but he wasn't an absolute zero on the defensive end either. He wasn't Dwight Howard or anything close to him, but he really played inspired all around basketball for the most part.

user-pic
eddies' heady's reply to Rich on Mar 25 at 20:51

I agree, I've just chalked it up to he just had an unusual pep in his step at times. Unusual being emphasized heavily.

Whenever I was discussing the Sixers earlier in the season on other forums I never once used the excuse "Well they are playing without their starting center." This is because Spencer Hawes is a fucking stiff and should never be a starting center

Welcome back. Literally.

Not back yet. Just checking in. One more game.

I just hope Thorn and co don't play the "continuity" card next year. This team needs to beg, borrow, and steal to get front court defensive toughness and rebounding. There are very few options in free agency so they need to be bold and creative. I don't think this front office is either.

Flame-broiled mediocrity.

wow.

user-pic
eddies' heady's on Mar 25 at 21:54

As depressed as we are around here, just be glad we're not Curry, James, McKie, and Collins. It's an accomplishment for them just to cope.

Watching OKC-Miami, its really obvious how far off the Sixers are. Every play for these teams is a drive, a three, or free throws. I wish the Sixers would just focus on the future and teach these guys to execute good offense, even if they aren't very good at it.

As I understand it, good offense revolves around standing the softest center in the history of. The league 22 feet from the hoop and letting him either make plays or take sissy shots. Okc and Miami haven't gotten the memo.

I'd rather see the Sixers miss the playoffs altogether than be an 8 seed and get crushed by the heat....again.

And i'd rather see you no longer trolling on .this site

I don't see that as a trollish comment right now. The team is in a tailspin going on months. I honestly think it's better for the long-term health of the franchise to collapse in order to get Doug fired. He's worn on the players just like he did in Detroit and Washington. It sure didn't take long.

user-pic
tk76 reply to spiller27 on Mar 26 at 10:59

You think an eighth coach in nine Yeats is the right choice for this team?

The franchise lives in mediocrity because it lacks franchise players. Not because coaches have held ET or others back.

They don't have good enough players. Miami and OKC can execute at a Hugh level because they have talent.

grow up son.

Grow up, sure, or acknowledge that you have a ridiculous belief that the sixers will end up an 8th seed because you are actually a knicks fan trolling on a sixers site.

What's with all the hate of late? Everyone can state their own opinion whatever that opinion is. Whether one is overly optimistic or overly pessimistic is irrelevant.

Rednecks. Hatfields & McCoys. Polarities. Territorial disputin': Turner, next "Magic" vs. Turner, loudmouth basketcase. Iggy, undetected-by-the-stupids superstar vs. Iggy, monotonous trade item. Brand, admirable block of granite vs. Brand signing, blockheaded and bombastic. Jrue, Gary Payton II vs. Jrue, 1 scoring-head wearing 2 left shoes. Lou, swell scorer vs. Lou, swelled-head mistake-maker. Collins, Mr. Chips/sage motivational master vs. Collins, tirelessly chatty ball of yarn, unwinding. Organization's close future: gleaming, with a little luck! vs. dispiriting, house of cards/treadmill of mediocrity.

Comin' up, 2 "Happy Meals": Luke Walton's Cavaliers & Washington Generals (who play @ IND night before).

Two cheers for a couple nights of false hope.

Hip hip, hooray!

Man, why didn't the sixers trade for Tebow?

Got too full of themselves too quickly...That's gotta be mental. they've got too much talented to roll over like dogs at home against the Knicks. they should have been embarrassed about that performance, among others...Then again, they pop up and rip a team...too erratic...I don't expect much from them in the playoffs. Maybe not having that one great player is what they lack.

Mike Wilbon said this about an NBA team today, and it wasn't the sixers, but seems like it could have fit them as well...

He's one of the smartest people workiing for ESPN (not that that says a whole lot) and an actual journalist...it's more interesting than half the stuff written on the web.

I read most ESPN NBA chats, except the team specifics ones, and all the ones on hoopsworld, you get a sense of how the sixers are viewed that way and sometimes some chestnuts drop that are interesting...and I read K-Law chats cause dudes funny.

BTW - not for nothing - but my impossible dream scenario involves the clippers imploding and trading deandre jordan into the cap space created by waiving elton brand.

Thinking about the Knicks is always is consolation.

The Sixers got a win against the Celtics after their players only meeting. Is it me, or does a players meeting always seem to lead to one good effort followed by a regression to whatever ills prompted the meeting. Has a players only meeting ever effected a lasting correction of course?
