Sixers

, all the time

tonight might be a good game to dust off wright, might be the only with a shot to guard durant

Really really sparse crowd in here tonight - maybe everyone's drinking away the eagles game already?

Im there in spirit. Got my League Pass on, son in my arms and some beer in the fridge. Its 900am here, but thats what Sundays are for. I am expecting an 18-point defeat.

Boy, they're just gonna annihilate us with high pick and rolls tonight. If they try to defend it without trapping they have no chance, and trapping it only gives them a minimal chance of defending it.

Bynum out indefinately: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8671136/andrew-bynum-philadelphia-76ers-indefinitely

"DiLeo said the state of Bynum's knees has worsened since the team traded for him and it's changed the team's risk outlook.

"His knees now and the MRIs are not the same; it's a different type (of) situation," DiLeo said. "At the time of the trade, we had four doctors look at his MRI; we knew it was a calculated risk. We also knew we were getting the second-best center in the league, a franchise-type player. We took that risk."

Needs Wright's height and length for Durant and Turner has been on fire. And they needed Nick for his... crazy shot selection.

Turner forces the issue inside. Gets the call. Hmm.

I'll take it. If Thabo and Westbrook have to knock down three's to seal it that's fine. Kind of like Rondo in game seven.

user-pic
eddies' heady's reply to Cin on Nov 24 at 21:43
+/-

I'm usually not like this when watching them play games, but I refused to let them suck me in tonight only to pull the rug out from under me. Sourpuss I know, but seeing this kind of effort only serves to piss me off even more. It harkens me back to a couple of years ago (and years before that) when they played up or down to their competition almost to a fault. And there's nothing more that I despise than that. Can't stand when they can't bring this kind of effort and execution every single night even against the dregs and averages of the league. No excuse for it except just lack of mental toughness.

Eh. Don't think they're really good enough to play up or down to competition. It's not an effort thing, to me. They showed a ton of effort and heart in that Toronto game. Think it's mostly whether they hit shots, and if a guy or two can play over their heads. Tonight, Thad and Turner played over their head and if Jrue had been able to throw the ball in the ocean, they probably win.

user-pic
eddies' heady's reply to Brian on Nov 25 at 9:52
+/-

Yeah, but can you really say they showed effort and heart in that Toronto game for more than maybe a quarter and a half? It was almost a sleepwalk (esp on defense) until they dug deep and stepped it up in the 4th (granted, a lot of that was shot making on offense as you said and Nick playing above his head). But even if they're not playing up or down to their opponent and it's not effort, what kind of explanation can you pin on the Detroit and Clevaland without Kyrie games then?

I would tend to agree that it's probably giving them too much credit as to their worth of how good they are by saying they play up or down. I guess I just feel like they can be better if they just give the effort and execute like they did last night and at Boston. And if so, maybe they don't lay eggs like the Milwaukee, Detroit, and last Cleveland game. Those games and efforts are ones you look back on when it's time to jockey and secure whatever lower seed they may be in line for in the playoffs.

I think you can say that they showed heart in the Toronto game. That game came down to execution, not heart (i.e. Doug going super-small and Toronto going ice-cold). In addition to what Brian said about shooting, you also have to factor in that even though Doug has them defending at a respectable level, they are simply worse defensive team than last year. Losing Iguodala, and still defending like they are is pretty impressive from a rag-tag group of defenders.

Mostly, you have to realize that this team, without Bynum, is worse than last year's group from a pure basketball standpoint. Sure, there are two guys like Lavoy and Hawes, whose sheer effort level has been pitiful all year.

But besides them, there are factors like the burden placed on Jrue to run the offense, heavily reliance on three-point shooting without a post player to consistently create open looks, Damien Wilkins and Kwame Brown seeing the floor for major minutes, having no post presence, and relying on Thad as a scoring option every night. Those factors are going to lead to clunkers from time to time. If all those things go OK like last night, then they can play with anybody. But it's hard to expect a great level of consistency from such a flawed bunch. I've been impressed with everyone's effort minus Hawes and Lavoy, to be honest. Even Nick Young plays passable defense.

That's what irritates me. This guy is useless. He's not a good defender, shooter, scorer, rebounder, shot-blocker or passer.......and he's 32 years old.

Great job by Evan Turner at defending Westbrook. I've been really down on the guy lately but he was excellent tonight.

Malik Waayns and especially Damien Wilkins- Are you telling me that there aren't two guys on the street right now that are better than those two?

@jrfingerCSN
Jason Richardson sprained his ankle

Saw an awful lot of ET running the offense even with Jrue out there tonight...hmm...

Sixers could have stole this one. At least entertaining and nice to see Thad rebound and ET score well. Bad night for Jrue- although he actually could have gotten even more than his 13 assists had guys been able to finish inside.

It is painful to see this whole Bynum situation evolve. They could be such a quality team with him healthy out there, but we might never even know. Instead we have to watch 18 offensive boards turn into 20 second chance points and Hawes' comical attempts to score inside against even token resistance.

user-pic
Stan reply to tk76 on Nov 24 at 22:47

The good thing about ET's scoring output tonight was that all of it didn't come from jumpshots and he wasn't being guarded by a weaker and poor defender.

user-pic
Jason reply to das411 on Nov 25 at 0:14

It's what we fans deserve right? Most of us under appreciated(msyelf included)Iguodala for years, who was nothing but committed to the game, and end up trading him away along with 2 former first round draft pick as well as a future draft pick for Bynum, who probably doesn't care if he ever plays basketball again outside of the financial resources he would miss out on.

I wish Bynum had a little bit of Brandon Roy in him, 7 surgeries and he still just wants to go out on that court one last time.

The Six reply to Jason on Nov 25 at 0:25

Speak for yourself. I don't deserve this. Why in the world would you feel guilty over Dre anyway?

As for this Bynum news. I wish Dileo would just shut the fuck up until he's either telling us Bynum's coming back, or he's done for the year. He was out indefinitely before the announcement tonight. Just keep your mouth shut.
