http://yankeesmuse.blogspot.com/ ok check out this for my side of this CF debate. :)

Mike,

I checked it out. A couple of things:

1. If Melky is little more than an average CF, then I don't know that you're going to get good prospects in return. Maybe getting legit bullpen help in return would be more palatable, but even then I'm not sure.

2. Cameron is going to be a downgrade at the position, on both sides of the ball, in my opinion.

3. Austin Jackson is probably at least 2 years away, that's a long time and a lot can happen between now and then. You don't just throw away a position because a replacement might be available in 2010.

I hate these rumors, wish they would just go away.

Brian, I think right now Melky Projects as a little better than average but in the long haul I think he is going to pan out to be average. I agree its a downgrade overall at the position with a slight increase in power. I guess it would all come down to is it the right deal? Can you get the right prospect(s) for him? What im getting at is if you want to trade him do it now while his value is high or just keep him as the stopgap to Jackson and hope that he still shows as better than average in two years when Jackson is ready.

Have no fear Brian, I seriously doubt that the Yankees sign Cameron or trade Melky.

These are simply a few more ridiculous rumors in what has been an almost unbearable off-season.

I write with some intense Yankee fans on a different site and they laugh at the prospect of this signing happening. Here is a post they wrote that may put your mind at ease.

Ben,

Thanks for the link. It's a good perspective. But just like last year, my mind won't be at ease until the season starts and Melky is starting in center every day.

Cameron just signed with the Brewers, you may now exhale... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3192184

Thank God. Now all we have to worry about is Corey Patterson.

Melky knows his role...Cameron is a strikeout artist. Stand pat !
