Throughout the summer, I've been firmly planted on the negative side of the trade Iguodala for Melo debate. My logic has always been when you take the complete game into account, Melo is probably a slightly better player, but the difference between the two on the floor isn't worth the difference in salaries. I'd like to test the theory a bit, today.

Phil Jasner has a brief piece saying the Sixers are in talks with Denver on a move that would send Iguodala to Denver for Carmelo Anthony. Other pieces would obviously need to be involved, and I'm not sure why Carmelo would sign an extension in Philly when he won't sign one in New Jersey, but that's the rumor, nonetheless.

Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala and the rest of Team USA took down the Turks on their home floor earlier today to claim the gold medal in the world championships. This was the capper to a perfect summer for the so-called "b-team," and those guys all deserve a round of applause.

Andre Iguodala and Co. will take on Angola in their first do-or-die game at the World Championships today at 11am. The game will be televised on ESPN2, I'll be watching, join me in the comments if you are as well. Happy Labor day, everybody.

In his World Championships diary over at Philly.com, Andre Iguodala talked about his one job in yesterday's win over Brazil, "make it tough on [Leandro] Barbosa to score." Iguodala took his job seriously, attempting only one shot in 29 minutes of work, and the results were excellent, though not everyone realizes it.

The Sixers best player is today's subject in the Early Predictions series. Iguodala is without question the most talented player who will don the Sixers jersey this season, but he's not the most important. You'll have to wait a bit to hear about that guy. Today, it's all about @AI9.

I hope everyone was paying attention to Andre Iguodala's play in the Team USA scrimmage on Saturday night. If you missed it, Iguodala scored 17 points on 6 shots. He picked his spots and facilitated on the offensive end, locked down on defense. Here's the fun thing, this type of play isn't a surprise from Iguodala, it's who he is.

When mock drafts everywhere were updated, my e-mail, Twitter account and the comments here were flooded with questions about the number four pick. The Nets seem to be wavering on who they will pick at number three, meaning Derrick Favors may be available at number four. After the jump, I'll talk a bit about what this could mean for the Sixers.

I've been thinking about this question for a while, but it's a good time to write something about it given Brian's post from earlier today. We hear this stated authoritatively all the time by Sixer fans of varying degrees of understanding: "Andre Iguodala is not a shooting guard." Even Doug Collins stated yesterday that Iguodala's natural position is small forward. But practically speaking, what is the difference between a shooting guard and and a small forward? And do all great shooting guards have to be great shooters? My thoughts after the jump.

If you believe the national press, the Sixers are looking at a less-than ideal fit with the number two pick. They think Evan Turner won't work with Andre Iguodala.
