The good news is this game was much more reminiscent of the way the Sixers played earlier in the season than their recent stretch of hopeless play. The bad news is that this was reminiscent of their early season play in that they did everything they could to lose a close game. (game capsule)

It's not that the Sixers have collectively cashed in this season that bothers me. It's not that they look like an NBADL team out there that keeps me up at night. I can deal with bad teams. I've dealt with them in the past. There's always been a reason to watch. The thing that makes this season so unbelievably unbearable is that they had to start out so well. They had to plant that seed of false hope, only to fall to pieces in front of our eyes. I'm sure it's not the case, but when you watch them get beat up by the Magic without Dwight, you can't help but say to yourself, "They don't even care." (game capsule)

When Thad Young had nothing standing between himself and the rim for a game-tying dunk and instead fumbled the ball away the Sixers not only blew this game, they blew a golden opportunity they not likely to see again. This was the type of game that makes you want to stop watching basketball. (game capsule)

Yeah as long as Thad can contain him I think we'll be alright tonight....

Two-in-a-row, huh? It's been quite some time since the Sixers have strung two wins together, and even longer since their nominal point guard had 7 assists in a game. Both strings of futility came to an end in Toronto tonight. (game capsule)

Well, the losing streak is over. The Nets graciously hosted the Sixers for a romp reminiscent of the 20-9 start. Doug Collins' panic button starting lineup laid an egg, but the bench was buoyed by a seemingly motivated Spencer Hawes. The Sixers gradually pulled away from the Nets for their elusive 30th win of the season. (game capsule)

The Celtics' systematic dismantling of the Sixers on Easter dropped Philly 3 games back for the division, tied with the Knicks for the #7 seed (on the wrong end of the tiebreaker) and one game ahead of Milwaukee for the coveted #9 seed and an early start to their summer. Quite a day. (game capsule)
