It's time to bite off our fifth chunk of the season. The middle third of the season wasn't kind to the Sixers, but the schedule is set up for them to find their footing over the next 11 before the home stretch.
Latest comment: from GoSixersDid you read it closely, cause that word ain't taxes (and al bundy didn't say it) But thanks though...
The Sixers had every opportunity to put the Bulls away early tonight, but they failed to do so. When you give a good team, at home, a second life, they're going to make you pay for it more often than not. Tonight, the Sixers handed a game to the Bulls. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from GoSixersThat's a bit different than 'straight stud' would you not agree?...
After playing three halves of what was entirely unrecognizable as Sixers defensive basketball, Philly's spine finally showed up in a big way for the second half tonight against the Miami Heat. Unfortunately, the hole they dug for themselves was way too deep and they couldn't help but shoot themselves in the foot a couple of times late in the game. (game capsule)
The Sixers entered an extremely tough trio of games on Wednesday night against the Pacers. They entered needing to pick up one win in the three, then laid an egg against the Pacers. That throttling left them the enviable task of picking up a win either tonight, against an irate Miami Heat team, or tomorrow night against the Bulls squad that incensed the Heat on Wednesday. A tall order, indeed.
According to several reports, the Sixers have acquired Sam Young from the Memphis Grizzlies for the rights to Ricky Sanchez. This is hardly a move which will elevate the Sixers to contender status, but Young is a useful player who they got on the cheap, and he fills a need (though not a glaring need).
Latest comment: from Car hireThat sounds like the bankers and the Murdoch Mob...
Pretty much every strength the Sixers rely on to overcome their terrible big man rotation failed them tonight. Plus, their terrible big man rotation was predictably terrible, led by Spencer Hawes, circa 2010. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from mchezo3 fouls in three quarters is pathetic. these is no excuse for that kind of officiating. ...
The Indiana Pacers are currently percentage points ahead of the Sixers in the standings. That margin means everything once the playoffs start. Even if the Sixers win the Atlantic Division and are guaranteed no worse than the #4 seed, they could still be a road team in the first round of the playoffs if the #5 seed has a better record. A win tonight would give the Sixers a one-game lead on Indy and a 2-0 advantage in their head-to-head games (with 2 left to play at the end of the season). Must. Win.
We've all been fooled before. It's only three games. They haven't faced a well-rested, solid defense yet. There are countless reasons to resist the temptation to sell out, to buy in, to believe what we've seen since Evan Turner was unleashed. Keep them all in the back of your mind while you read on, because right now it's time to start asking ourselves what if this is truly legit.
It was certainly a great day at the Garden. The Knicks had absolutely no answer for the Sixers, on either end of the floor. The only time in the second half the Knicks even came close to competing was when their "superstars" were glued to the bench. A trend that can't be considered coincidence in NYC anymore. Game four of the Evan Turner Experience was another roaring success. Great road win. (game capsule).
Contrary to their usual pattern, the Sixers used a consistent offensive attack throughout the game and a late defensive surge to put another double-digit victory on the board over the Utah Jazz tonight. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from massachusetts search engine optimizationwonderful information :)...
Way back on the eve of New Year's Eve, the Sixers blew a big lead to the Jazz in Utah. The shortened season was in its infancy, no one knew what to expect from the Sixers this year and the manner in which they lost was far too reminiscent of the failures of 2010-2011. After that game, the Sixers would go on a tear, putting the late/close failure out of our minds...until the same problems reared their ugly heads recently. Tonight, the Sixers have a chance to overwrite their first big failure of the season and build upon the momentum gained from humiliating Boston on Wednesday.
