Utah put up a good fight to remain in playoff contention for most of the season, but they're definitely limping to the finish line right now. Losers of 12 of 15, the Jazz dropped another last night in Dallas while the Sixers were romping in Sacramento. It's one of my favorite days of the year, the day when I get to see the guy the Sixers should've drafted #2 a couple of years ago and wonder what might have been...

Utah's size is a problem. A big, big problem. The Jazz sport three bigs who are leaps and bounds better at playing a big man's game than anyone who has worn the Sixers uniform this season. I'm no fan of Al Jefferson's, but after watching these first eight games, I'd gladly take him as on option for the Sixers on the offensive end. And don't get me started on Derrick Favors, it's too painful.

If the question is whether the Sixers have made a leap, after Portland the answer was probably not, after Phoenix it was maybe, after Utah...definitely not yet. After out-classing the Jazz for the first 16 minutes of this game, they suddenly decided they were too good to do the things you need to do to win on the road, and a terrible Jazz team showed them what happens when you take things for granted on the road in this league. If I had a seat at the table in the Sixers' war room later tonight, my vote would be for Derrick Favors with the number two pick. This isn't exactly a surprise to anyone who's been reading the blog for the past month or so. I said it right after the lottery and nothing has changed my mind, after the jump, I'll tell you why.
