Click for full story. With no true post player, and the only legit scoring threat up front being a small, non-stretch PF, the Sixers are left to rely on their backcourt for a whole lot. On the defensive end, they have to work from the outside in. On the offensive end, not only do the smalls have to spoon-feed opportunities to the bigs, but they have to handle the bulk of the scoring as well. For the first 25 games of the season, they did just that. In the last six, they haven't even come close.

Click for full story. Now that the Sixers have their representatives in both the JV game (Evan Turner) and the main event (Andre Iguodala) for All-Star weekend, let's take a look at whether Jodie Meeks deserves an invite to the three-point shootout.

Click for full story. It's gotten to the point where every single thread is being hijacked with the Turner vs. Meeks discussion, and really nothing has been added to the conversation by either side in the first month of the season, so it's time to segregate these discussions. If you have anything to say about the subject, post it here. If you post it elsewhere, it will be deleted.

Click for full story. The defense was there all night. In the first half, the Hawks shot a completely unsustainable percentage on long twos. In the second half, they missed their jumpers, if they could even get a shot off, and the Sixers energy was too much for the Hawks (or anyone else) to handle. Big win to take over the #2 spot in the Eastern Conference. (game capsule)

Click for full story. It appears as though Doug Collins is as tired of slow starts as we are. Tonight, he decided to nip the problem in the bud. After only 1:44 of sloppy basketball, Collins lifted Jrue Holiday (who had already turned the ball over twice) for Lou Williams. The Sixers went on to lead the game by 10 after the first quarter and put the catastrophic Washington Generals Wizards out of their misery in a 31-point blowout. (game capsule)

Click for full story. After turning our attention from the lockout to the amnesty clause to free agency, it's finally time to look at something on the court. Assuming the Sixers don't make any big moves in the next 3.5 weeks, the starting lineup is set at PG, SF and PF. The center position will probably be a lesser of several evils deal, which leaves us with the two.

Click for full story. I thought Meeks would work his way into the rotation this season, but I never thought he'd become a starter and key contributor. His shooting opened doors on the offensive end for other guys and save for a terrible slump at the end of the season, he was a legit weapon throughout.

Click for full story. Our first preview post focused on the importance of exploiting a mismatch at the PG position. Now we're going to have to take a look at mitigating damage from a colossal mismatch at shooting guard. Jodie Meeks vs. Dwyane Wade.

Click for full story. Andres Nocioni has re-entered the perimeter rotation as part of Doug Collins' effort to sort out the minute distribution among six players: Jrue Holiday, Jodie Meeks, Andre Iguodala, Lou Williams, Evan Turner and Nocioni. Let's take a close look at how these guys have performed, in combinations, then I'll try to come up with my ideal rotation at the one, two and three.

Click for full story. There was nothing impressive about the first three quarters. The Sixers defense was lackluster, their offense was scattered and almost lazy, their energy was sporadic, at best. That all changed at the beginning of the fourth. The Sixers erased a double-digit deficit and took down the Hawks.

Click for full story. I have to admit, the theory behind this post wound up being something very different from what I'm writing right now. The idea came from some stats TK76 tossed around in the comments over the past couple day about how hot Jodie Meeks has been of late. I was planning to write about how streaky Meeks is, and how the team's slim chances of winning a round in the playoffs could be dramatically altered depending on whether he's on a hot streak or a cold streak. Once I looked at the numbers, though, that idea flew right out the window.

Click for full story. With the memory of a 45-point drubbing burned into their minds, the Sixers took the court tonight shorthanded, but determined to send a message. It took 48 minutes of non-stop energy, but they got the job done. Without Andre Iguodala, Jrue Holiday and Jodie Meeks caught fire in the third while Elton Brand and Thad Young proved too much for Chicago on the defensive end. What was probably the best quarter of basketball this team has played in over year was enough to power them to their 15th win of the season.

Click for full story. The plan was for a recap of last night's game, but it's still too soon. Instead, I thought we could all use a pick-me-up. This morning, Rich is going to treat us to a closer look at the Sixers X's and O's (with video). Specifically, how is Jodie Meeks helping the offense and Thad's resurgence. Enjoy.
