Fresh off a well-played 24-point loss to the Heat, the Sixers head to NYC to take on a struggling Knicks team. New York has dropped four straight in spectacular fashion. If the Sixers regulars can muster the same effort tonight they did last night, they should be able to pull off the upset. Don't hold your breath, though.

Believe it or not, this picture was taken a couple of years ago, not during a Knicks practice prior to Mike D'Antoni's departure. Jeremy Lin will bring his mismatched collection of stars/superstars/fading stars and bit players to the WFC tonight to take on the Sixers in an Atlantic Division showdown.

It was certainly a great day at the Garden. The Knicks had absolutely no answer for the Sixers, on either end of the floor. The only time in the second half the Knicks even came close to competing was when their "superstars" were glued to the bench. A trend that can't be considered coincidence in NYC anymore. Game four of the Evan Turner Experience was another roaring success. Great road win. (game capsule).

It's hard to believe, but had Spencer Hawes played last night, the Sixers very well may have come away with a win. I'm not even talking about the super-human Spencer Hawes who hit two thirds of his shots over the first six games and grabbed a ton of defensive boards. I mean if they even just had last season's version of their big man, they might've pulled this one out.

It was a very, very ugly game with a ton of bad shots, virtually none of the ball movement we've seen all year from this team, tired legs and a metric ton of heart, but it wasn't meant to be. The Sixers win streak was halted at six by the mostly inept New York Knicks. (game capsule).

I realize there have plenty of theoretically huge games for different emotional reasons, but tonight's matchup with the Knicks was really the biggest game this team has played all year. Seeding was on the line, finishing higher than a division rival, pride after the last two losses. Doug Collins should've had no problem getting his team up for this one. Well, they came out flat and disinterested and about 10 minutes of effort just isn't enough in this league.

The Sixers have done two things extremely well under Doug Collins this season: (1) Protected their home floor. They're 25-12 at the WFC with four games to go. (2) Bounced back from bad losses, even on the second night of back-to-backs. See the Chicago game last Monday, see the Boston game after the Chicago loss. See the win at the Clippers after the Utah loss. Those two patterns need to hold tonight against the Knicks.

The last time the Sixers played the Knicks in Philly, the roles were reversed. The Sixers were looking up at the Knicks in the standings, they needed to make up ground, they needed a win, badly. The Sixers have lost consecutive games to teams they should have beaten for the first time since early January when Andre Iguodala was hurt. Just when the playoff race has begun to heat up, they've apparently wilted. You can pretty much forget about the fifth seed in the East. Luckily, though, the Knicks have picked a fine time to show their true colors.
