Over the weekend a few rumors broke regarding point guards named Watson. Earl was bought out by OKC, and the Magic were rumored to be considering signing CJ to an offer sheet. Thoughts on both situations after the jump.
The free agent market is far from closed, but with each passing day the odds of the Sixers picking up a starter shrink. At some point we need to turn our attention to the roster we have, while I don't think we're quite there yet, there is one nagging question in the back of my mind.
As the static summer grinds on in Philadelphia, rumors of another Eastern Conference playoff team possibly making drastic changes are beginning to surface. We'll take a look after the jump.
Latest comment: from eddies' heady'sGet that calculator fixed?... Or just buy a new one? :)...
About 53 weeks ago, Ed Stefanski cashed in all of his chips and went for broke to sign the premiere free agent on the market, at a position of need. He cleared enough cap room to sign Elton Brand, and as one we all praised him. Even the most cynical Sixers fans were uttering the word contender (looking at you, Tray). How does what's happened since that day change the way we view the signing now?
To many Sixers fans, Allen Iverson was a legit superstar. A guy completely worthy of the max deal the Sixers signed him to. Meanwhile, those same fans argue that Andre Iguodala is a second-banana at best. A guy who is overpaid, impossible to trade, and clogging the way for Thaddeus Young. Let's take a closer look at this logic after the jump.
When I returned from my three-day hiatus from the Internet this morning, I waded through a boatload of e-mail about the Miller for Duhon rumor, caught up with Toronto's continued spending spree, Millsap's offer sheet and the Summer League. After the jump I'll try to battle through this jet lag and give some thoughts on all of the above.
At one p.m. the Nets/Sixers will try to avoid leaving Orlando with an 0-5 record and their tail between their legs. Honestly, I don't see it happening. They're a sad, ragtag collection of players with no coach, no cohesion and really no common goal. Now that the week has been wasted, what's next for this team?

The NBA released the final salary cap, luxury tax and mid-level exception figures today, the first day free agents can sign contracts. After the jump we'll talk about the figures and try to nail down where the Sixers stand.
Aside from the Summer League (in which the Sixers/Nets got destroyed by the Jazz yesterday), these days are short on legitimate Sixers story lines. So, to give us something to talk about while Andy and Andre figure out that Andre isn't worth $30M I figured we'd use one of Basketball-Reference.com's cool tools. After the jump, we'll see what players had comparable stats to Thad Young through this point of his career.
Latest comment: from The Artist Formerly Known As Michael BournI love optimism. Thad is a unique player that can achieve great things if he continues to put the work in. I think we have something special here, and if the Worthy-Carmelo-Dantley comps turn out...
The Sixers kicked off their abbreviated Summer League schedule yesterday in Orlando. If you haven't heard, the Sixers went the budget route in splitting a roster with the Nets. Representing the Sixers are Marreese Speights and Jrue Holiday. After the jump we'll talk a little about the game, and a little more about how the Sixers are wasting time and money.
With the initial flurry of signings over, let's take a look at all 30 teams and how much they have left to spend in free agency.
As the days tick by the fans grow more and more impatient. Free agents find new homes in other cities. Rosters change and the Sixers remain silent. After the jump, a couple of lists to brighten the mood a little.
With Gordon, Charlie V., Gortat, Artest and Ariza all finding new homes in free agency, Shaq and VC on to greener pastures via trade, who do you think has done the most to improve their team thus far? Thoughts in the comments, as usual.
Thank you, Joe Dumars. While I firmly believe the two free agent signing Dumars made yesterday will cripple his team, there's another reason to be thankful for his decisive action on the free agent market. He took one bullet out of Andre Miller's gun.
