Continuing with the theme of the players I want, but the Sixers probably won't get, I thought I'd lay out the situation with Marcin Gortat to the best of my ability. After the jump I'll do my best to explain the CBA, as it applies to Gortat and his situation this Summer.
Royal Ivey has declined his player option for the upcoming season, he will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
There's a bias against guys who spent their careers playing outside of the major conferences in college. No one really knows what to make of the monster numbers they put up. No one really knows what, if any, of their qualities will translate when they start playing against stiff competition. There are ways you can grade their stats on a scale, but today let's take a look at a slice of stats for two players, Eric Maynor and Stephen Curry. Stats after the jump.

Check out Bobby Knight breaking down Stephen Curry's passing ability after the jump (Chris dropped this link in a post last night, and I thought everyone should take a gander.)
The six guys scheduled to come in for pre-draft workouts on Sunday after the jump.
We're now two weeks away from the draft, three weeks from the beginning of free agency. Seems like a good time to me to see where you guys stand. Check out the questions after the jump and leave any and all thoughts in the comments.
If you have any burning questions for Ed Stefanski, and I know you do, head over to Sixers.com during your lunch break. He's holding a live chat at noon. If you can't make it, I'll try to post some highlights after the jump.
The Sixers plan to bring five more players in for workouts this morning. After the jump we'll go through the list, and do mini-profiles on each player.
So you have a glut of big men, one with a very bad contract and really no way to find minutes for him. You also have the worst three-point shooting lineup in the league. Somehow, you find a way to trade that bad contract for the guy with the best three-point percentage in the history of the game. This trade was a win for the Sixers, but simply adding Jason Kapono to the roster won't solve the shooting problems, and some serious work needs to be done to integrate him.
Latest comment: from Charlie AceHe's only 6'5"...
Andre Iguodala sort of broke the news on Twitter, then Globe and Mail broke with the first report. The Sixers will apparently send Reggie Evans to the Toronto Raptors for Jason Kapono. Analysis after the jump. The Sixers have confirmed on Sixers.com.
Latest comment: from BrianBelieve it or not, I heard Foster was untouchable. They love him in Indy....
I figured I'd give you a couple of stream-of-consciousness thoughts to kick off this beautiful Tuesday morning. After the jump, I'll lay out the blueprint for an ideal player for the Sixers to land, then hopefully find a guy who could fit the bill on the cheap, then we'll talk about some very, very bad rumors floating around.
The mid-level exception is the only guaranteed tool a team over the salary cap has at its disposal to upgrade through free agency. Sometimes, it can be used to land a difference maker. Other times, teams use it year after year, and dig their hole deeper and deeper (Ahem, Isiah, are you listening?). After the jump, we'll try to nail down which players could possibly be had for the MLE.
On Friday, we talked about the Sixers assumed plan to play Iguodala, Thad and Brand at the three, four and five, respectively. That leaves two open slots. Coach Jordan made it clear there need not be a point and a shooting guard, the Princeton offense runs with just a pair of guards, regardless of designation. After the jump, we'll take a look at the situation, and possible solutions.
After speaking with Coach Jordan yesterday morning, and listening to him interviewed alongside Ed Stefanski on the WIP in the afternoon, one thing became abundantly clear to me. As of June 4th, the plan for this team is to start Andre Iguodala at the three, Thad Young at the four and Elton Brand at the five. After the jump, we'll examine what this means in terms of mismatches.
