Training camp is about to start, the first game is three weeks from yesterday and we've got so many more questions than answers it isn't even funny. A group of players has started working out together in Philly, Iguodala is back from the Worlds, Evan Turner is back from China. It won't be long now before the hype machine kicks into gear.

Insultingly labeled the "B" team by fans and national writers alike, the 2010 version of Team USA won Gold at the World Championships, succeeding where two previous teams of NBA stars had failed. Detractors might still point out that other countries did not send their best (no Ginobili for Argentina, no Pau Gasol for Spain), but previous versions of NBA stars have lost to lesser teams than this one played (who could forget Puerto Rico in the 2004 Olympics, for example?). So how good was this Team USA compared to past versions with NBA stars? My thoughts after the jump.

Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala and the rest of Team USA took down the Turks on their home floor earlier today to claim the gold medal in the world championships. This was the capper to a perfect summer for the so-called "b-team," and those guys all deserve a round of applause.

To be more specific, how much can we expect from Evan Turner this season. Forget about PPG, RPG, minutes. I want to take a look at what rookies over the past couple seasons have produced in a more meaningful way for their teams, and then we can take a guess as to where Turner will slot in among them.

A simple question today, with perhaps a complex answer. Two rookies who grew up in Southern California and took different routes to the NBA. Jrue Holiday and Brandon Jennings. If you could pick one of these young points to have on your team, which would it be?

The last time the CBA was renegotiated, in 2005, a free pass was created for negligent owners. Basically, each team which was over the luxury tax was allowed to cut one player and remove their figure from their luxury tax bill. The day after Halloween is the deadline for extension of players with three years in the league, still on their first-round rookie contracts. Jason Smith, Spencer Hawes and Thaddeus Young all meet the criteria.

In his World Championships diary over at Philly.com, Andre Iguodala talked about his one job in yesterday's win over Brazil, "make it tough on [Leandro] Barbosa to score." Iguodala took his job seriously, attempting only one shot in 29 minutes of work, and the results were excellent, though not everyone realizes it.
