We've come to the point in this endless, torturous summer where it's time to use your imagination. After the jump, I'll set the stage, then it's your turn to play the game.
When we talk about the Sixers' frontcourt on the defensive end of the floor, well, it's mostly a hypothetical discussion. We're forced to choose between believing that Spencer Hawes, Jason Smith, Marreese Speights, Thad Young or some combination thereof will miraculously learn to defend in a way they've shown no propensity to in their first combined 10 years in the league and hooking our wagon to the hope that Elton Brand can turn back into the player he was before the Achilles injury. I'd say the latter is much more likely.
There are still shoes left to drop, but I thought this fine Monday afternoon would be a good a time as any to take a step back and look at how the landscape in the Atlantic has changed since the Sixers last took the floor in an official NBA game.
Now that most of the dust has settled from the free agent bonanza, several teams are left with cap space and really nothing of value to spend it on. A smart GM with an asset or two they'd be willing to part with could find a way to take advantage of the situation. The question is, will Ed Stefanski be able to?
After starting out 2-0 in the Orlando Summer League, the Sixers have dropped back down to .500 and looked miserable doing it.
The Sixers - or at least some of them - will play their fourth game in four nights against the Bobcats at 7 PM. I read a cryptic tweet earlier that made it seem like Speights may not be playing anymore in Orlando. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
A rumor started on Twitter, I believe, and quickly spread by Ira Winderman. If the Heat can't get Mike Miller, they may look to trade for Jason Kapono. Their offer would reportedly be Michael Beasley.

The NBA announced the 2010-2011 salary cap will be $58,044,000, which moves the luxury tax threshold up to $70,307,000. Both numbers are higher than last season, and both are higher than projections throughout the season. What does this mean for the Sixers? Math after the jump.
The Sixers and Thunder will tip it off at 3PM this afternoon. This will probably be the summer squad's first legit test. OKC has sent a decent squad to Orlando with several guys who saw time for a playoff team last season. A quick preview after the jump.
I've been bombarded by marketing e-mails from the Sixers over the past couple of days. They're trying to sell season tickets, which is how they make their money, so good for them. The thing I found kind of odd was the message they're using.
Latest comment: from Ricky - Sixers4guidosI respectfully think that you are too high on Iguodala, Brian :-)...
I'm super excited that after a full day of traveling I was able to come home, boot up NBA League Pass (Summer League Edition) and watch two hours of traveling on my laptop. In a game that can only be described as Haywoode Workman's highlight reel, the Sixers came away victorious over the Celts in their second game in Orlando.
Latest comment: from Ricky - Sixers4guidosIs the fact that I saw Workman play here in Italy and remember him as a good player a sign that: 1) I am old 2) I have extremely low standards 3) all of the...
I wouldn't call it pretty basketball, but it was a form of the sport. The Sixers took down the Nets in their first summer league game of the season last night, I have some quick thoughts after the jump.
The Orlando Summer League will tip off at 5 p.m. today with what promises to be an instant classic, the Sixers vs. the New Jersey Nets! In all seriousness, though, I'm really looking forward to the game and a couple of matchups in particular.
Latest comment: from MyleskongJazzy about to chat Sixers. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/Phil_Jasner_chats_Sixers.html...
From my family to yours, nothing but the best on this Independence Day. As Sixers fans, we've been on the roller coaster of emotions all summer long. After the jump, I'm going to attempt to declare my independence from the drama.
The clock struck midnight a few seconds ago. The most anticipated free agency period is officially underway. Even though the Sixers' odds of landing any of the big name players are slimmer than slim and less than none, I'm still a basketball fan and a blogger, so I'm obligated to make my predictions. I'll do so after the jump.
