When Thad Young had nothing standing between himself and the rim for a game-tying dunk and instead fumbled the ball away the Sixers not only blew this game, they blew a golden opportunity they not likely to see again. This was the type of game that makes you want to stop watching basketball. (game capsule)
Latest comment: from NickYeah as long as Thad can contain him I think we'll be alright tonight....
Two-in-a-row, huh? It's been quite some time since the Sixers have strung two wins together, and even longer since their nominal point guard had 7 assists in a game. Both strings of futility came to an end in Toronto tonight. (game capsule)
Well, the losing streak is over. The Nets graciously hosted the Sixers for a romp reminiscent of the 20-9 start. Doug Collins' panic button starting lineup laid an egg, but the bench was buoyed by a seemingly motivated Spencer Hawes. The Sixers gradually pulled away from the Nets for their elusive 30th win of the season. (game capsule)
The Celtics' systematic dismantling of the Sixers on Easter dropped Philly 3 games back for the division, tied with the Knicks for the #7 seed (on the wrong end of the tiebreaker) and one game ahead of Milwaukee for the coveted #9 seed and an early start to their summer. Quite a day. (game capsule)
Latest comment: from mymanjrueyou mean flooding players with so many texts after games that they shut off their phones?...
I'm not going to look this up because, well, I already feel like I've put too much energy into caring about this team, so let's just assume the Sixers are the first team to lose to the Wizards and the Raptors by 20 points or more. The good news, the Sixers did it in less than a week! (game capsule)
Latest comment: from mymanjrueYou are spot on bebop...
The Sixers entered this game with a talent deficit. Even with Dwyane Wade out, the Heat have more top-end talent. The way to overcome that deficit is to identify an advantage and press it. And keep pressing it until the other team has to do something drastic to take away, then you exploit their fix. Tonight, Doug Collins had a huge advantage handed to him in the first half, and he completely let the Heat off the hook. (game capsule).
So that's what it would've looked like if the Sixers got Elton Brand in his prime. This game had all the makings of another disappointing loss. Slow start. Low energy. Terrible offense. Klutzy, soft, ineffective play from the five spot. The difference came in the fourth quarter when the Sixers remembered they had Elton Brand with a mismatch on the low blocks, and rode him for all he was worth right to the final buzzer of a close win over a winning team. (game capsule).
After a horrible first half marred by continued soft interior play and inflated jump shooting by the Bobcats, the Sixers came out in the second half and put the Bobcats in their place. It was a strange night for Doug Collins, one which I'm sure he won't look back upon fondly, but in the end it's just another demonstrative win over a bad team. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from tk76Sorry, should read, Brandon Roy scored half his points on long jumpers......
The Sixers had every opportunity to put the Bulls away early tonight, but they failed to do so. When you give a good team, at home, a second life, they're going to make you pay for it more often than not. Tonight, the Sixers handed a game to the Bulls. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from GoSixersThat's a bit different than 'straight stud' would you not agree?...
After playing three halves of what was entirely unrecognizable as Sixers defensive basketball, Philly's spine finally showed up in a big way for the second half tonight against the Miami Heat. Unfortunately, the hole they dug for themselves was way too deep and they couldn't help but shoot themselves in the foot a couple of times late in the game. (game capsule)
Pretty much every strength the Sixers rely on to overcome their terrible big man rotation failed them tonight. Plus, their terrible big man rotation was predictably terrible, led by Spencer Hawes, circa 2010. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from mchezo3 fouls in three quarters is pathetic. these is no excuse for that kind of officiating. ...
It was certainly a great day at the Garden. The Knicks had absolutely no answer for the Sixers, on either end of the floor. The only time in the second half the Knicks even came close to competing was when their "superstars" were glued to the bench. A trend that can't be considered coincidence in NYC anymore. Game four of the Evan Turner Experience was another roaring success. Great road win. (game capsule).
Contrary to their usual pattern, the Sixers used a consistent offensive attack throughout the game and a late defensive surge to put another double-digit victory on the board over the Utah Jazz tonight. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from massachusetts search engine optimizationwonderful information :)...
The only thing I like more than winning is winning big. The only thing I like more than winning big is winning over Boston. The only thing I like more than winning over Boston is beating Boston like a rented mule and sending them home with their tail between their legs and two games separating the Sixers from them in the standings. Evan Turner, welcome to the party. (game capsule).
Latest comment: from sixerfan1220korver has missed about 5 wide open looks...
The Sixers dropped another close game tonight to the Milwaukee Bucks on the back of two tremendous efforts from Brandon Jennings and Drew Gooden. Evan Turner's first start of the season was unspectacular, some familiar problems reared their ugly heads late, but it's never as bad as you think it is after a close loss. (game capsule).
