Good news: The Clippers are also coming off a back-to-back. Bad news: They lost to the Knicks last night, and scored only 33 points against NY in the second half. The Sixers are riding high after winning in Boston, the Clippers should be angry, very angry, heading into the Wach for the 7:30 tip tonight.
On paper, the Sixers have absolutely no shot to win this game tonight. But on the hardwood...yeah, pretty much the same thing. It'll be a miracle if the Celts don't win by 20+ points. Preview and game thread after the jump.
I'm looking forward to seeing Iguodala match up with LeBron. I'm looking forward to significant minutes for Jrue. I'm looking forward to seeing Thad Young go to work on JJ Hickson. I'm always excited to see LeBron play, the guy is a special, special player. The one thing I just can't stand is all the douchery that goes along with watching the Cleveland Cavaliers play.
In front of a quaint crowd at the Wachovia Center tonight the third-worst team in the league will play host to the fourth-worst. Philadelphia's 29th-ranked defense will be tasked with stopping the 21st-ranked offense, while Golden State's 23rd-ranked defense will try to keep the 20th-ranked Sixers O in check. Jump for the preview, keys to the game and your oh-so-efficient game thread.
The Sixers have a big number chasing them tonight. A dozen losses in a row is nothing to sneeze at, when you hit a baker's dozen national people start paying attention. Unfortunately, they have a formidable foe standing between them and their ever-elusive sixth win of the season, the Houston Rockets. Brief preview/lengthy game thread after the jump.
With Rip, Prince and potentially Ben Gordon absent from the Pistons lineup tonight, the Sixers will be facing a team increasingly in love with the jumpshot, yet oddly unable to convert them (at least from deep). Obviously, there's no better time to get your mechanics worked out than when you're playing the Sixers. Preview and game thread after the jump.
The little guy is back. The Wach is sold out. The coach is supposedly going to start the correct lineup (good), but he's letting Iverson decide his own minutes (bad). Willie Green is the gift that keeps on giving and so, so much more. Your preview and game thread after the jump.
I know how you're going to try to talk yourself into thinking the Sixers are going to win tonight. It's going to start with, "Well, we just beat them a couple weeks ago." Well, that argument simply doesn't hold water. The only reason we beat them on Nov. 18th is 42 unbelievable minutes from Elton Brand. Tonight, he won't even be a starter. It'll take serious foul trouble for someone to even get him 30 minutes. There really isn't much hope at all.
With AI quietly preparing for his Monday night debut, the rest of the Sixers roster (let's call them the forgotten 13) is gearing up to stop their seven-game skid against Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Preview and game thread after the jump.
The Mavericks are more talented than the Sixers, they have a better coach, they have a better owner, they have fans who show up for games. They have porn-star hair, future hall-of-famers, cool nicknames like "Matrix, "Jet" and "Dumpier." They haven't played a game since Saturday and they're playing in the comfort of their own arena. The Sixers, on the other hand, are playing the ass-end of a back-to-back and none of their players was recently engaged to a deranged grifter, so they've got that going for them.
Allen Iverson has dominated by Sixers bandwidth for the past 36 hours or so, tonight's game against the Spurs will absolutely be a welcome distraction. Preview after the jump.
For what I believe is the first time this season, the schedule will actually make a tough game a little bit easier for the Sixers later tonight. The Hawks played last night against the Magic, the Sixers had Thanksgiving off. The Sixers are also at home. It's a small advantage, maybe worth a point or two on the spread, but still, it's something and they're going to need any edge they can get their hands on against the Hawks.
Latest comment: from BrianOk, I thought he was saying riding them as in sticking with the through cold stretches. ...
Gilbert Arenas became Gilbert Arenas under the watchful eye of Eddie Jordan in Washington. Judging from his recent comments, he was apparently coached in media relations by Eddie as well. The Sixers are in Washington to take on a group of angry Wizards who apparently don't miss Eddie all that much.
It's amazing how similar these teams are. Similar, and sad, to be honest. Neither plays a lick of defense, neither can defend the three, neither can shoot the three. They each have middle-of-the-road offenses and bad defenses. Each is blessed with supreme athleticism on the wings. Each has a big center who they receive a ton of flack for signing/drafting. We'll break down the game after the jump.
The Sixers and the Bobcats come into tonight's game scuffling. Both teams are having serious problems on one side of the ball, neither has an identity. I'm fully expecting a street brawl on the floor with Brown clogging the lane mercilessly and the Sixers cruelly inviting Charlotte to hit open jumpers. Here's the problem, though. In a street fight, usually the craziest guy wins.
Latest comment: from tk76Hopefully we can look back to this game as when Brand finally started coming back to normal....
