The Sixers have a big number chasing them tonight. A dozen losses in a row is nothing to sneeze at, when you hit a baker's dozen national people start paying attention. Unfortunately, they have a formidable foe standing between them and their ever-elusive sixth win of the season, the Houston Rockets. Brief preview/lengthy game thread after the jump.
We're seven games into the season and I'm already looking at salaries, the CBA and potential trade partners. Probably not a great sign. After the jump, let's see if we can work something hypothetical out for Tracy McGrady.
Latest comment: from Brian28 huh? I thought he was older for some reason, 30 now. That changes things. ...
In the first half, the Sixers turned the ball over 14 times. They allowed Houston to grab 9 offensive rebounds, a rate of 33%. Thad Young grabbed two rebounds the entire half. The Sixers were held to 18 points in the second quarter. It was almost an unwatchable half of basketball. The only highlights came from Elton Brand, who blocked 6 shots. How, you may ask, did a start like that turn into the biggest win of the season (thus far)? Check after the jump for the answer.
It looks like the Houston Rockets will be at full strength tonight when the Sixers head to Houston. There were reports that resident lunatic Ron Artest could be out until after the All Star break, but word is that he feels fine today and he will play tonight. Check after the jump for the stats and join the in-game discussion in the comments.
The Sixers returned home in style tonight with an emphatic 104-96 win over the Houston Rockets. After outscoring the Spurs 56-42 in the second half on Saturday, the Sixers put Houston away with a 51-41 second half tonight. While Philly was able to score 104 points against the Rockets (they average 94.1 allowed/game), the offense wasn't the story in this one.
No more excuses. On their mammoth road trip, the Sixers showed signs of life, they played well enough to win a couple of those games against tough teams. But they were on the road, and they were missing Elton Brand, and they got an unlucky bounce. The buts have to stop at this point.
Latest comment: from BrianGadzuric kills us every time. I hate that guy....
Hubris brought on by watching a gutsy, come-from-behind win? Probably. But still, that's how I feel right now. After watching the Sixers dominate the Rockets tonight (albeit without McGrady) for the final 14 minutes of the game, I'm high on...
