Eddie Jordan is the Sixers' coach. He's got his system, he's got his idea of the type of players who fit that system. Until he's no longer the coach, he's going to utilize this roster to fit his system. This means, among other things, that guys who may be perfect fits in other systems aren't going to be as useful for the Sixers, even though other teams may value their services. There are four ways this situation can go, we'll examine after the jump.

I came to a startling realization tonight as I was laughing this loss off over dinner with my wife. She asked me why I was laughing when in the past I've basically been catatonic after a game like this. I thought about it for a second and then the reason hit me, it's because I never, ever, not for one single second got caught up in their fourth quarter run. I never believed they'd win the game, not even when they scratched and clawed their way back to tie it at 102. It was a sad moment, definitely the low point for me since I started this blog and I'll explain how I got here after the jump.

Bob Ford's column today is mainly about Elton Brand's newfound position at the end of the bench for the bulk of the second half, and how this must look to the team's owner. Personally, I don't care how much each player is making. In a perfect world, you wouldn't dole out minutes based on salary. Not if your goals are winning and/or developing a roster. If your only goal is saving your job, then yes, coach by dollars. That's not the point of this post, however. I want to talk about the theory behind the moves Jordan is making.

In the course of reading numerous Sixers previews this week, I've come across at least five people lamenting Sam Dalembert's contract. In fact, some have called him the most overpaid player in the league. Make no mistake, Billy King was a horrible, atrocious general manager and he should've never given Dalembert that contract, but when people talk about Dalembert as being a horrible contract, they almost always miss the point.

In the past 24 hours I've read more positive articles about Samuel Dalembert than I read over the entire second half of last season. This may seem like a PR machine spinning out of control, but viewed from a different angle, it could be the key to a successful season for the Sixers.

Most Sixers fans, and players for that matter, seem to feel the team needs to move on without the services of Samuel Dalembert. The Haitian Sensation is owed $25.1M over the next two seasons and his contract includes a trade kicker which would require any team who takes him to pay approx $3.75M upfront (thanks to Tom Moore for clearing this up). In order to move Dalembert at this point, the Sixers would have to trade for a player or players other teams have given up on. After the jump we'll take a look at they type of players who may be available in a swap of bad contracts.

I woke up this morning not knowing what to expect on the Dwight Howard suspension front. In the Daily Dime, John Hollinger thinks the league would gladly suspend the Polish Hammer in this situation, but probably won't suspend Howard. Henry Abbott wonders why Getty Images doesn't have a nice still shot of the elbow. JE Skeets thinks a suspension is coming. After the jump, we'll look at the video, and also the video of some other plays that drew suspensions from the league.
