The schedule is out, and the Sixers will open the season in Portland on boxing day. Their West Coast trip lasts five games and features a back-to-back, a tough one, going from Utah to Golden State for their typical New Year's Eve game (my wife is thrilled about this). More on the schedule after the jump.
Since the players and owners can't be bothered to have a legitimate negotiation until August, there's really not a whole lot going on in the NBA these days. We might as well waste some time analyzing the schedule that was released yesterday, even if the odds are against the season playing out that way.
Later today in what can either be described as a "thumbing their noses at us," or "slapping us in the face," move, the NBA will release the schedule for the 2011-2012 season. Typically, this is the day when I take a look and try to pinpoint a couple games I'm going to buy tickets for. It's just another step to build the excitement for the upcoming season. This year, it's just cruel.
Latest comment: from stoned81Well if there can be one silver-lining to the lockout, I'll take it!...
We looked back earlier this morning, now let's take a look the upcoming schedule. Home cooking for the next three games, followed by the Ice Capades road trip and some stiff, stiff competition. Vote in the poll after you recover from the shock of the upcoming schedule.
Latest comment: from DervinThey should actually be encouraging him, "Wait, I can go to a winning team!!!" ...
Check it out after the jump. I'll update this post later this afternoon with some analysis.
Latest comment: from johnemageeI expect they'll hover a couple games within 500 most of the season......
The Sixers and Suns will play an exhibition game in Monterrey, Mexico on October 18th. Exciting, exciting news.
Latest comment: from deepsixersuedeWith the way things are in Mexico, I don!t know if I want my team going there....
Thirteen games in twenty-two days. That's the reality of the situation for the Sixers. A break-neck sprint to the finish line of the first season. Seven at home, six on the road. Some may see this as yet another slap in the face from the schedule makers, and trust me, this wouldn't be the first. Others may see it as an opportunity, I'll tell you why after the jump.
