Click for full story. Jackassery aside, the Sixers positively gave their first game against the Wizards away. Actually, to be fair, even though they played horrible defense and sent Washington to the line 43 times, they still should've won. A Cartier Martin prayer three at the buzzer sent it into overtime, after all. Will the Sixers be able to exact some revenge tonight, back in Washington?

Click for full story. After a handful of disappointing defensive games, the Sixers bounced back in a big way against Toronto and Milwaukee. Here's my question to kick off this glorious game day: Are they legitimately a top-ten defensive team?

Click for full story. If you want to sum up last night's win in two words, I'd go with defensive effort. The bench was outstanding, there were some eye-opening individual performances, but the Sixers won this game because they got a superb effort on the defensive end from just about everyone who stepped on the floor. Oh, and Scott Skiles might have had something to do with it as well.

Click for full story. The Sixers deficiencies in the front court typically manifest themselves in less-than obvious ways. Poor play on the pick-and-roll, late or absent help when a driver penetrates, offensive rebounds. I'd say about 75% of the teams in the league don't have the type of big who's going to consistently make you pay for having no one to guard him on the blocks. Unfortunately, Milwaukee does not fall in that 25%.

Click for full story. During last night's SixersBeat show, Derek and I discussed the short- and long-term plans for this team. Specifically, what did we think they should be, what did we think they actually were, what could they possibly be. We ran into a couple of big problems: (1) We have no idea what Rod Thorn is thinking, mostly because he hasn't said peep since the season began; (2) There really is no easy answer, no clear path to set for this team to cross the growing chasm between lottery hopeful and legitimate contender.

Click for full story. Twelve games into the young season we've seen Doug Collins use four different starting lineups. We've seen wild variations in the minutes of Marreese Speights, Thad Young, Darius Songaila and Tony Battie. But through it all, one thing has remained consistent. Spencer Hawes has started every game at center. It's only logical to wonder why, at this point.

Click for full story. With all this losing going on, the Sixers are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Their young players need to be developed, but can you trust their production when they're asked to do more than they're capable of to make up for the shoddy construction of the roster as a whole? TK76 asks the questions, foremost among them: What happens if they've become the Clippers East?

Click for full story. The indignity of losing to this Toronto Raptors team is almost too much to bear. Shooting 36.8% from the floor against the 27th-ranked team in defensive efficiency is shameful. Any thought of how this team doesn't miss Andre Iguodala should be wiped away by this point. Without him, they just might be the worst team in the league. The problem: I'm not sure how far from the bottom they are even with him.
