How grim has the situation gotten? Well, if the season started today, DeSean Jackson would probably be the #1 receiver and starting opposite him would be either Jason Avant, Hank Baskett or Greg Lewis. Your guess is as good as mine as to who would get the nod. At this point, if they can sign Joe Horn, he's probably a starter, and that's not a good thing.
If the Eagles can't pull off some kind of last-minute miracle trade this offense will sputter. Westbrook will get every last bit of attention from opposing defenses, safeties will cheat up, corners will have it easy. Things are not looking good. Curtis may not be a true #1 receiver, but he was the best they had. He's going to be missed, and the Eagles really need to fill this hole. A hole that's been glaring since T.O. left town, but never more so than right now.

Any rational NFL club would have addressed the WR position long ago so that the loss of Kevin Curtis wouldn't have killed you. Curtis is a slot receiver masquerading as a number 1. Reggie Brown is not a very good receiver, more like a 3-4 on a mediocre team. Desean Jackson looks like he'll be a nice player - eventually. Then dreck. The Eagles love the pass but then don't address the dearth of pass catching talent? Hmm, that makes sense. But that's the Eagles for you. The most arrogant professional sports franchise to ever exist.
