Depressed Fan is moving to a new server. There will be a period of time when the site will be unavailable (beyond the home page). Please bear with me while I work out the kinks. We should be good to go sometime tonight on a more stable, faster platform. This is the first step in a series of upgrades here. Sorry for the inconvenience, Brian. Be sure to tune in for SixersBeat tonight. Check www.sixersbeat.com for more info.

The Iverson signing has been a rip-roaring success so far. It has clearly accomplished the team's two goals: (1) Make some quick money, (2) Divert media attention away from the deplorable product they're putting on the court. Check and check. While most of the traditional media is still wrapped up in how late Iverson will show up to the Wach. on Friday night, I figured we could turn the spotlight back on things that matter, like 5 wins against 17 losses.

Mike is back with another first-person report after gutting out another ugly loss at the Wach. He'll give us his reaction as one of 12,000+ fans to witness this atrocity with his own two eyes.

With Rip, Prince and potentially Ben Gordon absent from the Pistons lineup tonight, the Sixers will be facing a team increasingly in love with the jumpshot, yet oddly unable to convert them (at least from deep). Obviously, there's no better time to get your mechanics worked out than when you're playing the Sixers. Preview and game thread after the jump.

When he presses it, Andre Iguodala goes back to SF, Thad goes back to PF, and again we're robbed of a decent look at how those to can coexist on the wings. Since we've got 21 games of data, and we may not get too much more, I thought now would be a good time to assess how Iguodala has performed when he's played the two.

Our first confidence reading on Eddie Jordan as the Sixers head coach came back before the preseason schedule began. Most of the votes fell between six and eight on a one-to-ten scale. We've just finished the first quarter of the schedule, so it's time to take the fans' pulse again. After the jump, vote your feelings then discuss in the comments.

Mike was on hand to see Iverson's return to the Wach last night, his notes after the jump. (Sorry, had to get one image of a sick Iguodala dunk on the blog after this one and couldn't find the reverse on the blocks).

It was a charged environment at the Wach for Allen Iverson's return to the Sixers. The crowd seemed to carry the team most of the night, but when all was said and done, this was a very familiar game for Philly. Defense did them in, yet again.

I'll have my wrap later tonight. Tough to see three quarters of harmony and effort dissolve into nothing with a bad fourth, but they did play better defensively, for the most part. Earlier this week I was interviewed by the Philadelphia Inquirer for a piece on Iverson's return to the Sixers. Check it out, I'm basically the dissenting voice, and I'm fine with that. The little guy is back. The Wach is sold out. The coach is supposedly going to start the correct lineup (good), but he's letting Iverson decide his own minutes (bad). Willie Green is the gift that keeps on giving and so, so much more. Your preview and game thread after the jump.

How Bad Has the Defense Been?

We all know the Sixers defense has been terrible. The only thing I've been struggling with is quantifying just how bad it's been through the first 20 games of the season. My gut tells me it's been tragically bad, especially when compared to what we've seen from this team over the past two seasons. After the jump I'll use a mixture of basic and advanced stats to try to paint a complete picture for you of where this team stands defensively. (If statistical analysis bores the living daylights out of you, I've summed up each dorky analysis section with a mini conclusion, then there's a wrap up of the whole exercise at the end. Glance at the charts and graphs, then the conclusions and you should get a pretty good picture).
