The Iverson signing has been a rip-roaring success so far. It has clearly accomplished the team's two goals: (1) Make some quick money, (2) Divert media attention away from the deplorable product they're putting on the court. Check and check. While most of the traditional media is still wrapped up in how late Iverson will show up to the Wach. on Friday night, I figured we could turn the spotlight back on things that matter, like 5 wins against 17 losses.

Much like Mo Cheeks before him, Eddie Jordan's finger has been dangling millimeters above the panic button for most of the season. When he presses it, Andre Iguodala goes back to SF, Thad goes back to PF, and again we're robbed of a decent look at how those to can coexist on the wings. Since we've got 21 games of data, and we may not get too much more, I thought now would be a good time to assess how Iguodala has performed when he's played the two.

It was a charged environment at the Wach for Allen Iverson's return to the Sixers. The crowd seemed to carry the team most of the night, but when all was said and done, this was a very familiar game for Philly. Defense did them in, yet again.

I'll have my wrap later tonight. Tough to see three quarters of harmony and effort dissolve into nothing with a bad fourth, but they did play better defensively, for the most part. We all know the Sixers defense has been terrible. The only thing I've been struggling with is quantifying just how bad it's been through the first 20 games of the season. My gut tells me it's been tragically bad, especially when compared to what we've seen from this team over the past two seasons. After the jump I'll use a mixture of basic and advanced stats to try to paint a complete picture for you of where this team stands defensively. (If statistical analysis bores the living daylights out of you, I've summed up each dorky analysis section with a mini conclusion, then there's a wrap up of the whole exercise at the end. Glance at the charts and graphs, then the conclusions and you should get a pretty good picture).
