Pressing Questions - September 3

Summer is quickly drawing to a close. Before you know it, we're going to have actual on-the-court happenings to talk about. Until then, though, we've got a Friday tradition to uphold. I'll kick it off after the jump. Full story

Get Out of Jail Free Card

The last time the CBA was renegotiated, in 2005, a free pass was created for negligent owners. Basically, each team which was over the luxury tax was allowed to cut one player and remove their figure from their luxury tax bill. They still had to pay the player, but as far as luxury tax calculations were concerned, he disappeared immediately. After the jump, let's play a game about the possible strike next summer. Full story

The Countdown Is On

By November 1st, a mere 63 days from now, Rod Thorn will have to make the first in a series of decisions on the young core of his team. The day after Halloween is the deadline for extension of players with three years in the league, still on their first-round rookie contracts. Jason Smith, Spencer Hawes and Thaddeus Young all meet the criteria. Full story

Missing the Point

In his World Championships diary over at Philly.com, Andre Iguodala talked about his one job in yesterday's win over Brazil, "make it tough on [Leandro] Barbosa to score." Iguodala took his job seriously, attempting only one shot in 29 minutes of work, and the results were excellent, though not everyone realizes it. Full story

Crashing the Boards

Through the first two games of the World Championships, Kevn Love has grabbed 21 rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Completely insane numbers, no matter who Team USA is playing. After the jump, some sobering numbers and a quick question to start the week. Full story

Pressing Questions - August 27

Another week closer to the preseason, another edition of Pressing Questions. I'll kick off the conversation after the jump. Full story

Evan Turner Conference Call

The Sixers were kind enough to set up a conference call for a group of bloggers and Evan Turner. A handful of us peppered Evan with questions for about a half hour. Check after the jump for my notes. Full story

Doug Collins Film Study

It's about time to give the Sixers credit for what was unquestionably a positive move. The day Eddie Jordan was fired, it went without saying the team would upgrade their head coach. The jump from Jordan to Collins is probably more than we could've hoped for. After the jump, I've put together a couple videos of games Collins coached back in the day. Let's take a look and see if there's anything to glean from the film. Full story

Rushing To Judgment?

I'll be the first to admit that I have strong feelings about certain members of this team. Mainly, guys who hover on the periphery of the "young core." In the great tradition of Depressed Fan, I hope I'll be proven wrong about one or two. After the jump, let's take a shot at guessing which one(s) will exceed expectations. Full story

Early Predictions: Evan Turner

The final stop on our whirlwind Early Predictions tour is Evan Turner. If winning in the short term, or quickly turning this franchise around in a meaningful way is your goal, Turner is the key. Full story

Suggestions, Comments, Concerns

It's been about 18 months since this site has had a major redesign, and I'm ashamed it's been that long. I've started, stopped and started from scratch again more times than I care to admit in the past year-and-a-half, and I've finally reached my breaking point. Over the next however long it takes, I'm finally going to be rebuilding this site from the ground up. With that in mind, I'd love some feedback from you guys as to what you like/hate about the site and anything else you'd like to share. Specific questions after the jump. Full story

Team USA vs. Spain

Team USA will face their stiffest competition in Madrid at 3pm today. The game will be televised on NBA TV, then re-aired on ESPN2 at 10pm. Yesterday, the US struggled to score points early before figuring out they could completely destroy the Lithuanian guards with intense pressure defense on the perimeter. I doubt that'll be the case against Spain today. Game thread after the jump. Full story

Team USA vs. Lithuania

Andre Iguodala and his mates will be taking on Lithuania in a tune up to the World Championships in Madrid at 3pm today. The game will be televised on ESPN. Game thread after the jump. Full story

Pressing Questions - August 20

Another Friday, another Pressing Questions. I'll kick it off with a few discussion topics after the jump, you guys take it from there. Full story

Early Predictions: Andre Iguodala

The Sixers best player is today's subject in the Early Predictions series. Iguodala is without question the most talented player who will don the Sixers jersey this season, but he's not the most important. You'll have to wait a bit to hear about that guy. Today, it's all about @AI9. Full story
