What's the Point?

Something struck me earlier this season and it's really been driving me crazy as I've watched the playoffs unfold. Centers and point guards really don't seem to matter. Actually, let me rephrase that. Good centers and point guards matter, but neither is essential to putting together a winning team anymore. Full story

What A Difference A Year Makes

Watching the various first round games last night made me feel a little ill, to be honest. Can anyone remember this time last year? Full story

Sixers' Reactions

Contrary to what we saw on the floor last night, apparently some Sixers are upset that they got blown out to end their season. After the jump we'll take a look at some quotes and Coach DiLeo's post-game press conference. Full story

Game 6: Sixers vs. Magic

Don't look at this game as a golden opportunity. The Sixers come in down 3-2 in a best-of-seven series. This game is not an opportunity, it's a must-win. Odds are, the Sixers will lose this series. It's going to take nothing short of maximum effort to make sure the season doesn't end tonight. Thoughts, keys and in-game discussion after the jump. Full story

Dealing With The Polish Hammer

With Dwight Howard serving a one-game suspension tonight, you'd think both the Magic and the Sixers would have to make adjustments to their game plans. After the jump we'll take a look at what the Polish Hammer means to the overall team keys. Full story

Take Nothing For Granted

With Dwight Howard and Courtney Lee sidelined for game six tomorrow night, the gut reaction of everyone is going to be to punch the Sixers' ticket to game seven back in Orlando on Saturday. That would be a very, very big mistake. Full story

@GeorgeDiaz: Howard Suspended For Game 6

Orlando Sentinel beat writer George Diaz says Howard has been suspended for tomorrow night's game for elbowing Sam Dalembert in the head. No confirmation anywhere else, yet. UPDATE: It's confirmed. Full story

Sixers On The Brink

After playing their worst game of the series in a killer game 5 loss, the fate of the Sixers season will rest in the hands of the man pictured above for the next 24 hours or so. Dwight Howard should be suspended for game six. The league has a clear history on things like this. He intentionally elbowed Sam Dalembert in the face, it was not in the heat of action. It was a cheap shot and he should be sitting out game 6. We all remember what happened in the Suns/Spurs series a couple of years back, the league made it very clear that exceptions are not made in the playoffs. No we have to wait to see if they follow the same credo in this situation. Full story

Game 5: Sixers @ Magic

"We got home court again, and we're going to have some fun at home." That's what Hedo had to say about tonight's game 5. Call me crazy, but I think Andre Iguodala has something other than "fun" in mind for Hedo. Thoughts, keys and the in-game discussion after the jump. Full story

Attacking The Double

For most of the game on Sunday, the Orlando Magic sent a hard double at Andre Iguodala whenever a screen was set for him on the perimeter. It was predictable, it was sometimes effective and it was also the reason they so easily tied the game up at 81. They drew up a perfect play to exploit the double, and I'd like to talk about some other things this particular defensive strategy could open up for the Sixers. Full story

Game Five Links

Let's kick off our game day with a fresh batch of links. Full story

Who's In Whose Head?

It's really a shame that this series is being relegated to obscurity by the powers that be in the mainstream media and the league itself. Honestly, when you look around there are two first-round series completely up for grabs at this point, the Sixers/Magic and Boston/Chicago. After the jump, I want to talk about the psychological edge and who could possibly hold it after four tough games. Full story

A Couple Favorites

Just a few random thoughts about the first 4 games. One, how about Andre Miller covering ground, elevating and getting a hand on Courtney Lee's three-point attempt with 1:05 left in the fourth last night. Orlando did everything right on that play, and 90% of the time, that's an absolutely clean look. No one wanted that win more last night than Miller. Full story

Best Of Three

This series could be over. The Sixers could have swept. At the same time, Orlando could've swept. Instead, we're tied 2-2 and even though the Magic have stolen home court advantage back, this series is far from decided. Full story

Game Four, Sixers vs. Magic

A 2-1 lead in a seven-game series is nice, but we've been here before. It feels good, but not Christmas-morning good. What would feel great? Well, being up 3-1, obviously. Keys and the in-game discussion after the jump. Full story
